Thanks so much, you really help me out :D
Great review again. Thanks. I like best about your reviews is you use other lights for comparison. Keep it up mate.
Great review, great song. I like how the two $25 flashlights in this video kept up so well with the other two.. just goes to show. It's hard to dismiss an astrolux or convoy ever.
Looks like a an awesome light for the money.
Beam looks very similar to my modded R50 seeker with a shaved dome with added benefit of type c charging and anduril.
Colour tint looks ok too.
Thanks for the comprehensive video pal. 👍👍
If you split a normal ping-pong ball next to the weld you got a EC01 diffuser for muggle mode.
That's a nice little hack to know. You could turn it into a lantern for camping that way.
Amazing, just watched this video and then checked the mail and bam, it came today. Amazing light for the price. Astrolux is now my favorite flashlight company.
I can't decide on a fave brand lol. Probably got 5 all tied.
@@FLASHAHOLIC_TV which ones? Lumintop, emisar, astrolux, convoy and fireflies?
@@StagnantMizu Emisar, Astrolux, Imalent, Fireflies and Acebeam.
@@FLASHAHOLIC_TV It seems like these are all good companies with quality products but their lights differ in features and optimizations. That's why reviews like this are good - you can compare them and determine which light is just right for how you're going to be using it.
Thanks for introducing us to Camel's music! Been seeking out their other works since watching this video.
Their first 4 and last 4 albums are amazing.
Superb band and they're just as good live as on record. Had a nice chat with Andy once, after a gig at the Town & Country club. Really nice guy!
Just ordered one! Discount code still working! It will probably be a month until it shows up here in the states. Love your reviews! So informative and exciting!
Great light for the price!

Great review. Just ordered. Cheers from Australia
Thank you for yet another great review!
Nice review and I'm glad I'm not the only Camel fan left!!
Once again, a very good review. I have just bought the EC01 in a very nice sort of bottle green colour.
For the price of roughly £25 including the postage, I think your comment of flashlight of the year is spot on.
Admittedly, this was a year ago. However, I still think that it is still applicable. Keep up the good work mate.
Until next time. Au revoir!
Flashlight of this year so far is the Noctigon K9.3, ufft!!! 🙌
Great reviews and comparisons! I'm going with the Astrolux for night cycling. I need something with lots of throw and your review makes it clear the Astrolux excels in that. Probably not so good for indoor situations though, where you'd want more flood.
Ec01 is perfect for bikes. Bike flasher mode too
@@FLASHAHOLIC_TV I've been looking for some kind of chart showing the runtimes for the EC01 at various lumens. Like, "1000 lumens, 1 hour; 500 lumens, 1.5 hours" etc. ALL other flashlights have these kinds of charts but I can't find any like this for the EC01. There's a lot of information about the EC01 runtime if you start at 3500 lumens and just let it ramp down by itself. The charts say it ramps down from 3500 in a minute or so and then stays around 600 for more than two hours and then it dies. I don't plan on using the ramping feature - I just want to blast 1000 lumens for an hour if I can and then put in another battery. What kind of runtime do you think I could get at 1,000 steady lumens? Thanks for your help!
@@FLASHAHOLIC_TV Another thing I like about the EC01 is the side switch. I use a GoPro mount to attach my light to my helmet because I get better visibility with a higher light and I like to see where I'm going before I've actually committed to turning. I can also turn my head a bit to keep from blinding oncoming cyclists and pedestrians. WIth my current and previous lights, I attach a magnetized Panthervision red blinker to the back of the end cap for added visibility and I can't do that if there's a switch there. This isn't something you'd consider unless you cycle at night but no-tail-switch is an important feature for me.
At first I was committed to getting a light with adjustable beam spread (either rotating or sliding) but I couldn't find any decent lights with this feature and I rarely use flood for cycling anyway. I need long-ass throw and after some research (including your helpful review) I determined the EC01 is optimized for throw.
One reservation I have about the EC01 is the complex button functions. Since the light is on my head, I can't see the switch and I need something with simple controls. Do you think the EC01 would be easy to control without seeing the button? All I really need to do is turn the light off or on and move through a couple of intensity steps up or down when it's on my noggin.
thanks for the review, but too bad you don't have a review for the convoy s11. I want to see a comparison between this one and the s11.
yes, be sure to compare these models
Got one...brilliant!
How is it.?
Nice review!
Please, say. What's better. EC01 or Convoy S11. For bike light.
The question concerns:
1- angle of coverage? who is wider?
2- Who has the brighter fill? Who has the best side-to-side brightness?
and
а) Can you please tell me if the EC01 is fully stabilized like the Convoy S11? Or does the light go out when the battery is discharged?
b) Is it true that Astrolux EC01 will run 30-40 minutes less? If you set the EC01 brightness to 850lm like the S11 at 30%?
I realize you asked a couple months ago, but I will answer as it may still help you or someone else that may have the same question. Answers are based on both lights having an XHP50.2 led. I have the S11 with both an XHP50.2 and an SST40, both are 5000K. I highly recommend the XHP50.2 over the SST40 unless you are looking for a little more throw, as the XHP50 draws 3 amps max and the SST40 draws 6 amps max. and the spill on the SST40 only matches the XHP50 when both lights are set at 100%, otherwise the XHP50 has brighter spill at all other levels. I only have the EC01 with an XHP50.2. One in 5000K and one in 6000K.
1- The EC01 has wider coverage by maybe 15 degrees or so and it fades out to nothing more smoothly. The S11 has a more distinct cut off at the edge.
2-Both are pretty equal, but the S11 may have an advantage here because it doesn't go quite as wide. It's really hard to see the difference between them.
a) No, the EC01 is not stabilized like the Convoy. All lights go out when the battery is discharged. They all keep getting dimmer and dimmer until they hit the minimum voltage limit. Or you can look at it as the maximum output will be less and less as the voltage drops. But the EC01 is brighter to start with when both lights are at their maximum.
b) That all depends on the battery you use in the lights. The S11 may have the advantage here because it can use a higher capacity 26650 cell. But the EC01 can ramp, so its brightness will drop gradually instead of the output dropping in preset steps. All 4 of my black Shockli 5500mAh 20A/30A batteries measure in at just over 6000mAh of capacity. That can't be matched by any 21700 cell.....yet.
Both are excellent lights. I hope this helps someone.
@@craigs7181
Thank you very much for your comment!
I already bought the S 11.
The choice was made in favor of the greater autonomy of the 26650 compared to the 21700. This was the most important selection criterion. Two batteries cover all my tasks for two nights when I am camping in nature. With the 21700, 3 batteries would be required. Also, I made a good light diffuser from a diffuser from another company. With the Astrolux EC01, I couldn't make a good light diffuser due to the large diameter of the head. Plus, the S 11 is even cheaper.
And I am very pleased! For a bike light, I love the way it works. The width of the bicycle light coverage is very sufficient.
I hope I also helped someone in choosing))
@@mmk0775 Yeah, I kinda figured that you had already made a decision at this point in time.
No matter which light you went with here, I'm sure you wouldn't have been disappointed. It's just that the SST40 has considerably dimmer spill at all the lower levels and a smaller, more intense hot spot, so I wouldn't choose that led for a bike light.
I'm glad to hear you are happy with your S11. Happy camping 😊
Hi, can you please compare sofirn sp33v3 3500 lm flashlight in terms of max brightness run time? Sofirn sp33v3 manual says 1.53hrs on 3500lumens, does that mean its not turbo and it can run without stepping down?
Very good review. And a fantastic light. Amazing throw and good flood on it.

Battery questions....
I purchased the EC01 last evening (US $23.99, Banggood with code)
Is a 10A battery high enough drain to let this light reach max performance? If not, then what does it need? 20A, 30A, 45A? Does it matter whether the battery is rated 3.6 volt or 3.7 volt...I realize they will charge to 4.2V .
Any advantages to IMR vs. INR in general, or for this light in particular? Some reviews say flat top only, but some say that the dual springs allow for button tops. Thoughts?
Higher the amps Higher the performance, BT 18650's will be fine as the light can run off the longer 21700. Get a Samsung 40T!

This Astrolux EC01 looks like a better option than Convoy M3 that despite having XHP70.2 outputs the same light!
If it is so, the M3 will probably have better efficiency due to the XHP70.2. But the UI is far better on the EC01 thanks Anduril.
@@PM-wt3ye this is also true ;)

Nice flashlight but what is the difference between ec01 and ft03 XHP 50.2 ? Which of these give more flood?
EC01 has a smaller reflector so it's far floodier
I have both and the FT03 has more light and throws a lot farther. EC01 is still very bright, but way more useful for use around the garden and anything below 30m. Plus, its much easier to carry around
I bought one of these but it's not charging using an Apple 18W charger with USB C to USB C cable. Do I need a USB A to USB C cable and maybe lower watts plug?
About 7.5 to 10w is the max input it will allow afaik. Usually A to C

Astrolux EC01 or Astrolux EC03?
Depends what you set max ramp to.

FLASHAHOLICS thanks! 😍
Btw mate, regarding the Muggle mode issue. I have 4 Anduril lights now including this EC01. ALL of them came with temperature sensor out of calibration. Telltale sign is from Muggle Mode. It's only written in the MF01S manual. Perform a temperature calibration and all should be good. My EC01 can do more than 10 mins at Muggle full ramp without stepping down. It can do more but I switch it off. Good luck mate.
Yeah they are all calibrated but still a little buggy at times, it's an intermittent issue that comes and goes even before calibration.
@@FLASHAHOLIC_TV Oh... But mine are all good after calibration. Maybe it's due to older Anduril version. It should be ok for at least MF01S & EC01. Here's what ToyKeeper wrote :
"That is because the SP36 used an older version. In the older version, muggle mode responded to every temperature warning by panicking and going directly to the lowest level. In newer versions, it tries to adjust in smaller steps.
Additionally, older versions had a lot more jitter in the measurements, so they were more prone to sending spurious temperature warnings. Newer versions put the measurements through a strong lowpass filter to avoid that."
@@leepatricktzeching2405 The D4V2 with Anduril was going to Turbo in Muggle mode when the light was off!!! and causing all kinds of issues. It's certainly a feature that Toykeeper desperately needs to fix.
@@FLASHAHOLIC_TV Oh... Understand...
I just got mine today, any reason it cuts off on high back to low in about 5-10 seconds in muggle mode?
It's a bug, nearly all Anduril equipped flashlights do it in muggle mode. Calibrating the temperature sensor can sometimes help a little. Mine often step down to min muggle ramp as soon as I ramp to max muggle ramp. Very frustrating!!!
I don't know why Toykeeper can't fix it.
