Lindsay, please don't use quotation marks when you say you are a full time author. You are. You got a juicy book deal, kids are reading your books, your advances are the main source of your income. You are a proper full time author. In fact, you are a definition of one.

Thanks for talking about all of the possible things to write off your taxes. I work for an accountant so I’m hoping one day he will be doing my author taxes! 😊

I'm a new subscriber and loving your videos! As a capricorn who also maths real good, trust me, you are crushing it. Good luck on your 2024 goals, I know classroom visits can be daunting but the kids love them so much. :D

This is wonderful! Thank you for sharing all of this! Before your video, I just learned what can be written off for taxes for 2022 (I’m a freelance sensitivity/authenticity reader), so I also wrote off my office supplies (my desk is also in my bedroom, lol), air purifier, some books, etc. Really cool that it’s a thing. Thank you for reinforcing this! I love learning stuff like this! 💜

Thank you so much for this incredibly informative + fun video! All of your advice on taxes + expenses is super helpful (and how smart to have a card solely for author expenses - if I ever get published I'm stealing that idea!).

Just a litter encouraging discouragement: even those of us with "full-time" jobs that isn't authoring still need a partners income to not be homeless 😅.

I'm in Canada and have a school aged child which means I can go to the Scholastic book fairs. I was so sad when I didn't see your books at the last winter one, but am hoping they'll be there in the spring one. Gonna add to the Canada pie piece if I can lol

Don’t feel obliged to answer of course but why would a disability not enable you to work? I only ask cos so many people work from home now and if you can sit at a computer you may find something suitable to go alongside your writing career. Don’t discount yourself, you seem capable of anything.
