The legend says that the client of the closets is still happy after 50 years of using it :) Really nice i just wish i could buy mdf boards with models in my country. Well explained video.
I’m a Level 2 joinery student and you’ve inspired me a great deal. It is very good of you to show us in detail how you manufacture and fit things and the materials used in making them. It really is much appreciated. There are many videos showing how to make doors, etc. but yours are the best and the work produced is classy. Thanks again and best wishes from Dovedale, Peak District.
Beautiful look Alastair. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Very clean install, Freebird style. Perhaps you can convince Finsa to produce a series of boards with the highlights (raised color black and different background color). Tremendous labor effort (I’m sure Brady would agree), but it’s one of a kind. Great work. Cheers!
that wouldn't be possible unfortunately- due to how the boards are made. The fibres are dyed prior to pressing the MDF, so the only way to have different colours is through paint
Absolutely fantastic work perfectionists I love watching your projects, you've been great inspiration and because of your videos I managed to built 2 alcove units and and 5 floating shelves God bless
You all prolly dont give a damn but does someone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb lost my password. I love any assistance you can give me!
@Abram Nehemiah Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Nicely done...looks great and very unique! A project that has it's deceiving complications that the finished product doesn't show. Thanks for sharing it...
very nicely done. The only touch I am not a fan of is those sticky screw covers - that end up coming unstuck. Are there any other solutions for the screw concealment?
Simply stunning! It was interesting to see the issues you were having with spraying/ finishing the doors but when installed they look amazing. Excellent work! I’m sure the customer is thrilled!
Nice job. Maybe cutting those panels on the cnc in future might make it a little less nerve racking and will help with maintaining consistent gaps etc? Cheers, David
DRMNZ I originally planned to do that. However the thin Kerf of the rail saw blade was arguably more suitable to keep the pattern running across the door gaps
Hi, I do it that way sometimes, more and more actually! I think the main reason I don't is that I sometimes want to measure the scribe to suit a gap to the door, keeping the door fitted and positioning the scribe from the front with a visual check on the door gap before securing it. But you are right that, even then, I could often push the scribe down from above into the cut gap in the skirting. One downside of cutting the skirting is sometimes it is poorly fixed and all starts tp break off and creates another job to fix!
Freebird Interiors yep, I looked at both, very similar. But Hafele seem to only offer one length, TLC offer more options. It maybe they cut down from long lengths.
@@Alastair_Freebird I do like that embossed door material, but I was feeling your angst when it came to sanding the doors back to reveal the black lines. It's almost like you need a sanding system that remains perfectly flat so it avoids the valleys. Abranet on Velcro, stuck on a rectangle of MDF?
Hi Alister, great to see you using improved fittings and technologies as you progress and develop, do you have a link for purchasing these finsa boards? we offer some basic design storage solutions to our customers as part of a complete basement conversion package but would be nice to have more choice, Leeds based
Rubi Kasuto hi, enquire with James Lathams or Falcon panel products. Or as Finsa directly by messaging the @finsauk account on Instagram - ask for Heather
Did you find any trouble with how the tip-on mechanisms functioned being mounted at the top? Do they work as you'd expect when pushing the doors in the middle to open?
Hi. I have been watching your channel for a while now. I'm impressed how you improve. Really like your new worksop. From my point of view, you are missing the ( sanding belts machine ) it may help you with some of your projects when you want to be more accurate. Regards Pawel 😊
That’s a good question but no they were fine. Do you mean the board is unbalanced from the start due to the pattern on one side? Or because the pattern side was part sanded through the paint? It was sealed with a final lacquer.
I have to say I really don't like those doors but they are all beautifully made and fitted as usual. It looked like a nightmare to work with though that textured MDF.
mrghm that idea did come up when we were halfway through!! At that stage it seemed more costly to interrupt the schedule and try and find a provider but if I did this again I would trial that idea first
Freebird Interiors keep going with all the detail- I have been very motivated by your ethic and attention to detail. I appreciate this takes considerable time- so thank you. If you ever do work classes I would be interested. Best
Not my cup of tea but certainly can’t fault the work as usual. Do you have anything in the video catalog that goes into more detail on building cupboards with this frame method rather than full carcasses? Need to expand my knowledge a bit 😳

👍 loved how the finsa board pattern follows from one door to the others.

David Jones it’s a nice trick! The hafele Loox range seems to keep growing and changing
A beautiful bespoke installation.
james gallagher thanks
Can't fault the craftsmanship, however, an Italian guy just rang up from the 80s, he wants his wardrobes back.
Spencer Eagle 😂
They defo scream 80s. Look great
Definitely. I’m sure my mum had a jumper in that design 😂😂
Really unique build Alastair, and glad to see you’ve partially moved into the new workshop. Cutting those panels must have been nerve wracking too!
Morgan Skinner thanks Morgan and yes it was a bit!
A lot of work but a nice job i really like the light set up never seen that before good job
Mark Armstrong yes it’s a nice switch option. It seems there are always new things to discover in the hafele catalogue!
@@Alastair_Freebird Is the lights and switch expensive
Mark Armstrong search the codes at hafele.co.uk for list price, or at hart wholesale www.blum.org

Nice job well done

What did you find that was a good thing to make that sold really well
Not sure what you mean
You need to use a sanding block made of hardwood, no sponge at all. Nice work as always.
Infinity Video Productions - Niagara I see what you’re saying - perfectly flat and hard
Seriously impressive
Simon Charters thanks!
So nice. I like the little bird figure as a finishing touch. Do you make these yourself and leave one at each finished job?
Thanks. Yes exactly that
Bradley learning to use the panel saw, 'No pressure mate these boards only cost £200 each' 😂
For LED aluminium channels I've used TLC direct in the past. Probably similar price per metre, but they do them by the metre.
Bad Robot I may have a loot at their options next time I need some but it’s often similar to stick with what you know buying all from one place

Or, as others have suggested, rent the use of a wide belt sander from a bigger workshop!

David Perkins does that mean showing how my tools are stored and arranged?

Was there any issues with doors bowing as it’s an unbalanced board?

Cheers. How do attach your long, side, grey, scribed panels to the frame/wall. Do you screw from inside? Thanks
A fisher yes on this one I screwed from the inside
@@Alastair_Freebird Do you ever glue the scribed panels?
Yes I sometimes use a good gap filling adhesive especially when I use inset hinges so the carcase edge is exposed to fix to
