Aye aye aye… Probably wasn’t the best idea to skip a wave, which might make people think that I'm still all the way in wave 3 from the thumbnail. Lmaooooo.
Ethereal Workshop is seriously working its way up for me. It started off strong and sweet Jesus Crippiter is it keeping that strength up like nobody’s beeswax and then some. This is really turning out to be a fantastic, downright catchy as all hell song in my book. These long waits between waves are more than worth it and I’m particularly thankful for the support and criticism and am very satisfied with how things are shaping up in my Remix… Deep down though I am low key regretting not doing a Magical Nexus remix but I just don’t have it in me for that… :(
Venshun’s Impact on the song is EXACTLY what I was looking for in a song like this which is the classic percussive industrial touch. It is called “Workshop” after all, and the collection of turning gears, clicking picks, and shaving saws makes itself right at home in this hodgepodge of unstable experimentation. Not to mention, it’s probably one of my favorite general monster designs to date. This was the utmost challenging monster to work with separating it’s separate noises so I could tinker with them in the mix individually. I had to use a stem extractor and upwards of 10 separate spaces on the mixer for even the most miniscule sounds, but I believe it came out a-o-good!
Piplash is… Piplash. He’s cool and all but he’s not particularly making me turn my head. I love how his bio says absolutely nothing about what it is/does even though clearly by its sound and design, there’s a lot of underlying personality to be found but his sound certainly fills the air… Not like I’m expecting EVERY monster to have more than 1 track but hey, every little bit counts.
X’rt is a very controversial monster to a lot of folks. With a design only its creator can love and a contribution akin to a gargling dog. A true monster! Maybe that’s why I like him so much out the gate. He clearly has a melody going on and is very much on beat so I tried to make him shine just a tad more but that might be eased up a bit in the future. His sounds can get pretty ehhhhh on average.
Pentumbra (A.K.A. Mimic 2: Escape 2 Africa) is hands down my favorite sound in the island BY FARRRRR. Sheezus this dude. Every quad has been a hit and a half and this is absolutely no exception. It’s creative visually and despite MIMICing others, creative auditorily. (Is that a word? Idfk.) It’s honestly the kind of melody I was hoping the song would get. It’s a glorious harmony whilst playing generously throughout the song.
Real talk… Does anyone else get a bit of a Tim Burton feel from his 2nd track specifically? I swear to god it’s the combination of the shadow, the swing of the melody, and the countering harmonization it has with Yooreek. It’s ALL THERE and it really reels me in. How aesthetically appropriate for the shadow quad’s stylings.
Special thanks to @ImVeido ‘s delightfully GNARLY AS HELL bass: • GNARLY BASS on Etherea... which is used in the middle of the song with permission. It’s hearty and rockin’ as all hell but might need some tweaking on my part to really balance it out.
Then there’s a particular thanks to @BlakeAtStake for allowing me to steal ideas for placements of Venshun and Piplash and introducing me Veido’s custom bass to ask for to add… This was when I was available on Discord of course...
So far, this is really shaping up to be quite the community aided mix, so KEEP THOSE SUGGESTIONS COMING. I’m taking all I can get before we reach the finale. Even at this stage I fear this thing still sounds just a tad wonky.

Ayy you managed to make xrt fit more as it actually should in the actual song! Im glad that it CAN sound good because its implementation in the normal song feels off. I also love that piplash actually does more because his instrument is very nice for this island but he unfortunately fell into the playing once curse.
Also its pretty sick that (im pretty sure) you added veido’s castle bass at 2:08 like you said. It complements the extra piplash track
This makes Ethereal Workshop good for me, love all the mixups you did. It's just such a shame you don't get to work with all the VSTs; you absolutely deserve to! It could come out so much cleaner that way, especially the bass.

I really like how Pentumbra modulates from ear to ear in such a haunting way- one of the most fun vocals in a while and finally fulfills my wish for a shadow puppet monster. I like to think that the pentumbra's animations are actually it getting spooked by its own shadow
admittedly I didn't even notice X'rt in this track but I wasn't paying attention that much. Theyre sort of the second coming of Wheezel with a similar role and similarly stunning design. still not sure what to think of it admittedly
but damn your piplash is like 3000% better than the rubbish I cooked up at 5 am, so props to you. I think it's a big highlight of the remix

I agree on X’rt! It’s a rather good sound for the island it’s on. I feel like it might work well with Nitebear after the secret Whaill track.
As cool as ending it off with the Pentumbra track is, it takes away from the unique ending you gave with Auglur a bit. If it also played after Whaill’s secret track and then stopped after one use, it might feel more natural as a decrescendo.
I honestly think you could handle a Nexus Remix masterfully! I know it’s an immense island, but it might help to pace yourself. Like, to pick and choose which monsters you add into updates to an initial mix. I don’t know. It certainly keeps ME coming back to the channel knowing that your mixes sound this good, but aren’t completed yet. I feel like an artificial version of that would be a good way to both drum up attention, and reduce the daunting nature of the island.

all the glaze is crazy, yea it sounds good but it’s really oddly placed out, i see the idea but honestly it feels a little cluttered and unpleasant in some spots but other than my dumb nitpicks it sounds nice 👍🏿
