Roseburg was on our short list for our retirement home town. Just be prepared for lots of rain. And the property taxes are pretty high.

Yes you may need to invest in some rain boots and a good umbrella! We get about 150 days of rain a year on average. However very little or no snow!

Houses cost a lot compared to Klamath. Much less than Eugene, Bend, Or Portland
Healthcare really sucks - lived here more than 25 yrs.

Do you know the history of Roseburg?
Was it named after a woman? Rose perhaps a pioneer? Or were there just beautiful roses wild perhaps? I know it was a logging community
    Would like to know more

The city of Roseburg was named after settler Aaron Rose, who established a homestead within the current city limits on September 23, 1851. It wasn't named after a woman or the wild roses you might think of. Roseburg has a rich history, including its early days as a logging community. If you're interested in learning more about the history of Roseburg, feel free to ask!

One of the main reasons I moved back to this area is that it is more open-minded compared to some places I lived on the East Coast.
