Eddi Reader performs In a Big Country live at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on 21st January 2024 as part of the Songs of Modern Scotland: Celtic Connections Concert.
This brings tears. Reminds me of my first year at uni with my flat mate playing this in his room, sitting talking till 2am, missing lectures, experiencing life away from home for the first time, as growing up with never forgotten memories.
What a strange experience, as a mid 50s cynical old fool I stumble on a cover by one of the greatest live bands ever ( 17 times with Stuart) and for some reason my vision becomes very blurred , then I read the comments and realise it’s not just me it’s had that effect on . A man much missed but Eddi did him proud . Stay Alive!
I’m at a loss as to why it’s took a 25 years after his departure for this iconic music to be aired again, However, hopefully people can enjoy as I did listening to this most wonderful music, LONG LIVE BIG COUNTRY X
I was shot through the heart by this song 40 years ago. Their first album with this song is one of the best albums of my life. And I used to listen to Eddi Reader a lot. Her singing voice is cute and transparent, and it's awesome.
I love this beautiful rendition of this Big Country classic song. All involved did an amazing performance that brought tears to my eyes.I t makes me think of Stuart so much.He is so missed and so remembered by his family, friends and people like me who were his fans.
Until the tempo picked up I was wondering why everyone was loving this. Once the band kicked in though, I got it. About time Stuart's songs got more airtime.
I'm lucky enough to see BC 2 times. Eddie once. Steeltown defined my late teens. I met Tony Butler in 94 and chatted for hours. I met a guy in Dudley on sunday who saq NC on Saturday. Steeltown. 40th tour. We clicked. I saw steeltown 30th in glasgow. STAY ALIVE
I don't know if your like me and somtimes think Stuart Adamson is forgotten I don't even know who Eddi is but what a lovely tribute to my idol when she said this is for Stuart Adamson wow thank you Eddi x
This version certainly took the smile away from my face. It's a ponderous to the point of ostentatious version by someone who is nothing more than a Club singer at best. Light blue toych paper...
Every Big Country fan will spent a tear here. Nuf said.
Somewhere, somehow Stuart is looking down from above and smiling. Just a majestic performance.❤
i hope so
Definitely, Stu would be glowing watching this.
