Aftermarket "old school" dash gauge clusters will be flyin off the shelves as soon as somebody makes them! I think they shoulda brought back the ole "dash of class" or corvette dash... that was a good lookin dash. The modern digital trucks today are a huge p i t a on some things. Such as, heated mirrors... I liked it when the toggle switch turned em on and they STAYED ON till I turned them off not till the electronics think they have been on long enough...
Talk about a down grade. And the switches look bulky and ugly, that’s disappointing but the sad part is most new drivers are in favor of this technology bull crap, another legend dies with these “upgrades”.
I have digital dash and it seems my fuel gauges aren’t working right. I have a 70 gal tank and a 110. The 70 gal tanks is almost on empty and the 110 is at a half. I’m not sure if it will start drawing from the 110 tank after the 70 gal tanks gets lower. I have had it at a 1/4 and the gauge for the 70 will light up brighter. Like hello you need fuel. Like is said the 110 is still at a 1/2.
Nothing wrong with "digital" gauges if they are done correctly. Making them look like a traditional gauge seems a better way to go. When you try to make them "look" different and display redundant info in multiple forms, it becomes too complicated and hard to read at a glance. When you have to study a digital gauge to determine the reading....that's not a good thing. Freightliner (to which I'm no fan) actually has some of the best digital displays. They retain the look of a traditional gauge. Think Peterbilt missed it on this one. Nice that they retained some real gauges.
I like it. Sort of like a retro mod vibe. However they should absolutely still offer steam gauges for the folks who want them. We are the ones who have to stare at the dash all day and night, not the engineers or bean counters.
I want to know if it will have a different bumper when you order the lane departure and the camera for safe distance? If so how does it look like for heavy haul. I like it but it is new. Peterbilt has to work out the kinks. I want to see the camera on the mirrors and the camera in front. I like my 22” bumper but I love how the government is going for safety.
@@GB-hk9ou yeah that's why kws are 2 years out and they stop taking new orders.... that new pete dash setup is no different than a volvo.... it's total junk
I like the digital dash. Not so much a fan of the switches. Also it looks like the engine brake is on the steering column, which I would rather have it on the dash. But it sucks if you want a custom steering wheel.. your kinda stuck. Peterbilt should know that their trucks get customized the most. People might start looking for older truck's.
What the hell where they thinking. More fancy crap to go wrong. Never liked the dash in a Pete since they got rid of the switches. Now I really don’t like it.
This new dash and steering wheel looks like ass. That glare on the new dash is unbelievable and would seem to hard to drive by. Least with analog gauges, you can see where the needles are. And that steering wheel is just too much. Too many buttons on the wheel to figure out without taking your eyes off the road. Why try to change things that have worked for many years. Hopefully Peterbilt will get their heads out of they're asses and give the buyers the option of the new digital dash or the analog gauges. Maybe they'll get the hint when their orders go down and the buyers are buying Kenworth, Western Star, Freightliner, etc.
Junk dash dispay...i wont be buying any new petes now...becuase i aready know that dash will be a nightmare and will have to have a computor to fix it...blah..blah..
The dash i could probably overlook but not the switches..they really make the dash look like crap..the fit and finish is horrible. Seriously a Freightliner Cascadia has a better fit and finish. It almost seems to me that this gentleman doesn't care for the dash or anything either but he's trying his best to sell it.
I love the digital y’all old heads have to understand this is for the next generation of truck drivers not the ones close to retirement of course your going to prefer your old school lol
I’m not close to retirement and I prefer the real gauges. Too much to go wrong with computerized crap. Analog gauge goes out you change it. Digital computer screen goes out you’re screwed six ways from Sunday. You got nothing. Then you’re stuck in the shop till they can get a replacement. Then put it in. Then program it. I’d rather spend $100 to replace a gauge, that I can do myself, rather then a couple thousand for a new digital dash and then more for the labor and programming.
I wish they would have at least made it an option before just making it mandatory. As an independent owner operator we spend quite a bit of money to make some custom changes that Peterbilt use to let us do as options and now they just turn their backs on all small mom and pop operators

I WILL *NEVER* buy a new 389!! Good thing Kenworth is still making the W9 without the digital CRAP! I will be buying a new W9 in 2023.
Exactly!
Exactly true am going with W900L as well
Not for long. Paccar makes them both
Funny how so many people can’t accept that the world is changing. Peterbilt told me the digital dash’s will be mandatory after 2023 on all
How do I replace it with the aninlog gauges
This truck is not intended for us. It's for the youngsters out there getting in to truckin.
I'm still an old school gauge man if I'm honest. Just looks a little bit dazzled by the Sun. Nice colour of the truck.
Good way to do away with the backlog build a truck nobody wants.

You can get 16 gauges depending on air rockers
Good info. I did not know that. Thanks Steve!
Any chances of getting old ones

Yup have a 2020 389 what should the fuel filter gauge read after changing the filter
Can you still get the old style gauges?
Not if you order one after July 2021. Any 389 from 2022 and up will have the digital dash
