    Dang, all these negative comments.
    First thing I see, Takes off shoes in house, second thing , checking connections and where the cables are run.
    Putting on locking connection.
    Securing all connections
    This is a good and thorough check on install !

    First of all you aren't wearing Steel toe lace up work boots secondly you need to update your fittings and check them to see if they are sucked in or out (never rely on someone else's work) and then you need to check the house and drop for ingress. The major things though are that you need to attach your harness to the hardline, replace the grounding equipment, change the tag for the drop out (putting the house# on it is a blessing as well)

    Why are you not wearing boots? I am required to wear boots with a one inch heal and a lineman's shank.

    I work for dish and we dont have to use those rubber gromets, honestly you dont really need them because as long as you have the connector torqued to 30 inch pounds it will be water tight. I hate when i run across those gromets, sometimes they are a pain in the ass to work with

    twc wants to charge 60.00 to move modem in my home. im tech savy but they have a lock on the box. cables are ran and ready to accept the modem on the inside of the house but network isnt being pushed to that cable. is it basically a spliter inside the plastic case. my question is can i just swap where the 2 cables connect and I will have content pushed to the right location?

    The cable guys do not care about the next guy and if you are customer they all ready have the stick customers with end of service life equipment.If it was me I would make him one label every thing an replace the mutable splitter with one.the more brakes in the cable the more problems when it comes to internet and new cable tv.

    • @trains11111
      @trains11111 9 років тому

      First of all I am sorry you have that opinion. The thing is a sloppy wiring job in any data system can make problems. I live in area that is serviced by a major cable company. I my self have worked network and data systems witch includes cable contentions for t.v. and web. I think you should take the time to talk to a ham radio person where you live and he or she can explain RF interference. You brakes joints in coax cable can equal rf bleed or single loss. Let me tell you about equipment at end of service life. I had this happen to me that is part of the the reason I own my equipment. As computer age the some point will need replaced. We all know this is going to happen. This is on avenger every three to five years.We had a cable box fail no big deal right wrong. The one they replaced it with failed with in the month. The nice thing about equipment makers like Cisco they will post and end of service life bulletin and stating that the equipment is no longer going to supported.
      I look the equipment up and it was past it service life and they did not even tell us this. When we ask the tech about this. We are not allowed to give customers with existing account new equipment. We informed him we would check the service life of the equipment on line and he better give us some equipment with some service life still in it. If you buy a new car you expect it to last at lest 10 years or more. You would be mad if it broke the next day. This is the same most every thing else.

      Safety vest ...don't improve safety ....there for dumbasses that like to be seen as a member of the working class .....If your smart or just not a dumb ass you'll never put your self in danger of shit that a safety vest could save

    You seem like you'd be a cool dude to work with but unfortunately your first impression with the customer was very poor. You just go into the house and say afrw words then leave without actually holding a conversation with him. I know in and out is the best way to save time but not always the best option. Those cables on the outside of the house would really piss a lot of people off. Would you want those cables like that on your house? I know I sure wouldn't. Bringing a job up to code isn't about making sure the connectors are tight. It's about changing the ground cable and strap/lug replacing splitters that are old and have been exposed to water. I'm sure these were since they've been lose since the last guys been out there. It just blows my mind that I was trained by directv and it definitely seems like the cable installers obviously don't care about their work. This is also why I end up cleaving up time Warner installers mess when I go to hook up directv and the customer wants to keep their internet. At least take some pride in your work and do a clean professional job. This last one was very unprofessional

      Bigdirty3thirty direct TV leaves their splitters out in the open for the weather to eat at them, no house boxes at all, yes this tech failed, but direct TV has alot of cable issues as well, Ive seen many

    • @WormHole1000

      Look dude. That comes down to the tech who if they choose, will exercise all policies. I have seen direct tv installs that resemble a rats nest. All video cable companies have their policies its just the techs job to uphold it.
