Thanks for the breakdown. HotOE is such a daunting campaign. I've often thought if I were to run it, I'd run Blood Red Fez as a prequel. So this is definitely handy.
Its a bear for sure. Even making this video took a ton of work compared to the other scenario walkthroughs I've done. I've been listening to The Old Ways podcast recently - they're doing a playthrough of HotOE which has been excellent and has helped me get my head around the campaign. Glad this was helpful and thanks for watching!
Excellent summary! SPOILERS BELOW I really appreciated it. I've kind of put myself in an odd situation of using the scenario, "The Auction," as a prequel to HotOE, but then doing BRFez immediately afterwards. The characters will either be 30 years younger, or it will be one of their parents. Hadn't really considered that this is plot armor for the characters. Oh well! Maybe some will have grown up without one of their parents. Yikes! The goal is to get the Fez to the Prof Demir, but by that time there can be multiple fezzes, right? And the Baron doesn't really care which fez he gets, I suppose. Should be lots of fun. Thanks for the reinforcements!
I really appreciate that you say how many sessions it takes to run the scenario and how long a scenario is. This helps me in deciding if I am going to run it.
I'm glad that helps! I always laugh when people say the number of pages instead... "Hey gaming group, today we will be at the table for 12 pages worth of hours."
I can't thank you enough for this video. I'm a relatively new Keeper and I've wanted to run Horror on the Orient Express for a while now but it all felt pretty overwhelming. I think I might run a Gaslight prequel campaign with this scenario as the finale. The guide at the end was especially summary at the end was especially helpful.
This video was had some great suggestions, I feel like I got a better handle on it after watching. But I have a question for your or other GMs: My Players threw the whispering fez off the train, lol. I found a reasonable way to let Menkaph recover the tome, but I am concerned that they will do it again. How, as a GM, do I play out this scenario if they are determined to destroy or get rid of the book in a way that makes it nigh impossible to recover?
Not sure if you still review this channel but it would be great to see more content. Love the way you break down the scenarios
Thank you so much for creating this video - I'm about to run this scenario as a prequel and this has been incredibly useful!

This was an excellent summary to watch as I prep The Blood Red Fez for my own group of players. Thank you!
