I'm rewatching this after watching part 2. If you go back to before you were born with Diana and Fergie, both had short courtships as did the Dime Store Duchess. Their marriages failed, in part, because of this. Diana was in love with the idea of being a princess, she was needy and hated it that Charles had his own interests and hobbies as well as the amount of work he did. She thought he would lavish all his time on her. Didn't happen. She alienated his friends and resented his interests, she had probably never read a book all the way through plus they only had 1w dates before the engagement. Fergie and Andrew married quite quickly and she was bored with him away with the navy so much, also her ex had been a millionaire and could spend money on holidays and extras. Andrew had his naval pay and about £250K from his mother. Not a lot when you have to buy clothes in order to be seen at official functions and charitable events. Diana had the Duchy of Cornwall income to use. Then we go on to Edward and Sophie, they dated for 6 years before announcing the engagement, it's the same for Catherine she knew William for nearly 10 years when they got engaged. The Dime Store Duchess did not want to hang around too long because people might see through her.

Judging from what even she has said, the family obviously treated her politely, while enduring her numerous tantrums. Why the public initially liked her I don't understand. I thought their public engagement announcement revealed a coarseness in her that was really unpleasant. Can't stand that photo in the white coat where she's arching her back while leaning against Harry. Tom Bower may be right that she never really intended to stay in Britain - though it could also be that because she was floundering socially, she soon came to realize on some level that she didn't possess the dignity or true confidence required to gracefully carry out the required duties while tactfully adapting to the ways of the court.

I was surprised to learn after 18 years my hubby spoke fluent German. I had no idea. I knew he spoke fluent Dutch as his Dad was Dutch and we have been to the Netherlands and family out here. And his parents spoke Dutch at home except when i was there. But German was a real surprise. We went to the Netherlands after and he really struggled. After speaking German for 3 weeks he said he couldnt get his brain to speak Dutch. Lol.

I suspect she saw photos of Sarah and Diana together and misunderstood, thus Meghan’s suggestion that Catherine and her walk to an event arm in arm instead of Meghan walking behind Princess Catherine. Sarah always walked behind Diana when they were both still married.

She failed to understand that royalty is about service to the people and not the other way around. Completely agree about her very bad Character, but not that the Royal Family loved her. Lady C mentioned that even fairly early on, the Late Queen referred to her as a "floozy" and that she was "of the street". (I concur!) The Duke of Edinburgh called her "Tungsten" and apparently often remarked that she reminded him of the Duchess of Windsor. Even in the early days she (and Harry) were aggressive and behaving boorishly, and Kate and William soon kicked them out of their offices. Lady C also mentioned that Harry wouldn't have been allowed to marry her had she not been a person of colour. Judging from what even she has said, the family obviously treated her politely, while enduring her numerous tantrums. Why the public initially liked her I don't understand. I thought their public engagement announcement revealed a coarseness in her that was really unpleasant. Can't stand that photo in the white coat where she's arching her back while leaning against Harry. Tom Bower may be right that she never really intended to stay in Britain - though it could also be that because she was floundering socially, she soon came to realize on some level that she didn't possess the dignity or true confidence required to gracefully carry out the required duties while tactfully adapting to the ways of the court.

And his parents spoke Dutch at home except when i was there. But German was a real surprise. We went to the Netherlands after and he really struggled. After speaking German for 3 weeks he said he couldnt get his brain to speak Dutch. Lol.

Sarah always walked behind Diana when they were both still married.
