Most people didn't treat her as a black woman, because most people did not know or care that she was black until she constantly said she was.
It doesn't even make sense. How does one treat a woman like a black woman? Don't we just treat people the same. If we like them, it is pleasant, if we don't like them, we move on or stand up to them if they are aggressive and then move on.

The one thing about MeGain’s wedding that impressed me was after the service when Prince Charles and Camilla were about to head down the stairs. He actually offered his other arm to her mother Doria and escorted them both down the stairs. Charles‘ really touched me. He and Camilla seem to be making Doria feel comfortable. Yet MeGain seems to turn everything to make her a victim. She is only a victim of her own actions because she had it all and she let it go because it wasn’t enough.
Megsy never invited her White or Black family members to her wedding, only her mother that didn't raise her. I guess her mother was not allowed a plus one.
Whatever his faults, Charles has impeccable manners.

The look of contempt and the hard swallow when she said " before that most people didn't treat me like a black woman" were IMO both huge tells on her true feelings towards being identified as black. As a person who lives in Wales and Irish by descent we haven't always got along with England but i remember the press she had was overwhelmingly positive, it was only when staff members started leaving and there was friction with William and Catherine that the press started to report these things, and people's opinions started to change but even then it was never about race(many, including myself didn't even know she was biracial) it was about her attitude, which stunk to high Heaven ❤
I am so sick and tired of having it constantly pointed out to my countrymen that Britain was involved in slavery. Yes, we know. It was absolutely abhorrent, repugnant, dispicable, and many, many countries participated in it too; Africans as well to a very large extent. When public opinion turned, it became one of the Royal Navy's major goals to completely put an end to it globally, and my country willingly gave its men and money to further this laudable and virtuous aim. The sad truth is that slavery has unfortunately always existed throughout the centuries and perpetrated by every race against every other race.
Britain itself was colonized at least twice - first by the Romans and then much more brutally by the Normans. For centuries our people were captured as slaves and taken to foreign shores - by the Romans, the Vikings, by the Irish ... yes, that's how Saint Patrick got to Ireland; he was from the west of Britain and captured by the Irish - and even by non white people - yes, they were enthusiatic traders - such as the Barbary pirates and Arabs who frequently raided here, and took captives to the slave markets of the Mediterranean and Arabia. This didn't stop until the Royal Navy became the "top dog" fleet towards the end of the 18th century and beyond. That is the meaning of the words in "Rule, Brittania" about the Brits never being slaves again.
I guess what I'm trying to say in a long- winded post is that history is never simple, it is very nuanced, and looking at the subject by just skimming the surface does our ancestors - of every hue and nationality - a massive disservice 😐🇬🇧
Oh, and by the way, to all those Meghan Markles out there ... I can honestly say that Britain is NOT a racist country. Yes, we've got our fair share of bigots, but the country as a whole? No!
All countries have a past of slavery periods, today it still goes on, should we not focus on stamping that out

What an excellent post, so true, and I believe most people are not aware of how each race has been responsible for participating in slavery on some level. As humans, we've got to do better.
Remember when she made the Sentebale chair Dr. Sophie Chandauk move to a different spot on the stage at the polo game award ceremony? I'm not sure if she was being racist or sexist or just plain rude there.
She brought this up herself. The British people welcomed her with open arms, it didn't take long for her to show her true colours and her real reason for marrying the dim one. Her agenda soon sunk in to people, lie after lie tp suit herself.
For heaven's sake it's 2024. Race shouldn't be such a BIG issue. Most of us have accepted each other as we are. Megs is so wayyyy left behind. She has definitely missed the train.

In the US, the federal government does a census every 10 years, on the decade mark, so the last national census was 2020. I never filled out census forms until I was a legal adult and living outside my parents' home. Further, I never filled out census forms as a child. Even if kids did fill out census forms, if she was born in 1981 as she claims, the first US census after her birth would have been the 1990 census, when she was 9. She would've been in 4th grade, not 7th. (This may feed the "1977 birth year theory", as that would make her 12 and in 7th grade for the first half of 1990, when the census forms are released. However, even Samantha has confirmed that she was born in 1981.)
Additionally, I have two children in public school, and whenever we fill out any surveys or informational forms issued by the local or federal government, they are sent to the parents to fill out, even for the one who is currently in 7th grade. I don't think even standardized tests ask for a child to fill out their race. My kids just finished some standardized testing yesterday, so I could ask them later; however, there are lots of different kinds of standardized tests, so their experience might differ from someone else's.
Finally, I am a year older than Meghan, and I had a close friend growing up who was biracial. When we were applying to undergrad schools, she told me that her older brother always checked the "other" box for race on his applications because it would make college admissions offices wonder. (Both his first and last names were very Anglo sounding so did not provide any hints about his race.) He was born in 1975, IIRC, so he would've been applying to colleges in 1992-1993, around the time Meghan's story would've taken place, and as someone who is similarly aged to her, I can tell you that an "other" box for race on a form would have been normal in that era in the US.
All that to say that I don't deny that she may have struggled with her identity, but I suspect that this particular story was created for her blog.
I remember her telling the story on an interview, and saying how great and supportive her dad always was, and that HE had told her to draw her own box to tick...then dumps him cold turkey!!! No further use when hes not working and has no Hollywood connections. And the 'straight out of Compton' was suposed to be her being 'common' and had nothing to do with colour... same as speculating about what a baby might have as as features...every mixed race marriage speculates, its not new. And Meghan has called herself Caucasian all her life, until she could get sympathy, victimhood and a following if she now identified as a Black woman, even though she was insulted when people noticed or called her a black woman, even if the Queen tried to give her a black staff member!! And how many friends and employees that are black does Meghan have????? Sure, the Billionaire Oprah (although Oprah wants to forget MM) and she's sort of friends with Serena Williams, the tennis player (but looked more interested in her very rich husband....watch out Serena!!), and then there's mummy, who MM is not frightened to give the evil death stare to if mummy speaks when MM was about to!! We've all seen That Photo...it's the same evil stare she gave poor little P.Charlotte at 3yrs old at the wedding... jealous of a child because she was born a princess!!! How evil can you be??? Well, it's MM, pretty damn evil!!!😮
Racism is everywhere. I was mentoring international students from a local college and took them out together. The Korean students didn't like the Taiwanese student (and he was a great kid!) They made remarks about him and it made me angry. I let them know I supported all of them, and i wouldn't tolerate their poor behavior. I'm still in keep in touch with young man from Taiwan!
American here: Crenshaw has crime rates that are 106% over the National average crime rate. It’s incredibly dangerous, impoverished and not a good place to live in.
But here in the UK we had never heard of Compton. It was an American journalist who wrote that.

I am so happy for Megan that, as the offspring of a Caucasian father and a black American mother, raised in a white community, she DID NOT have to contend with being called “oreo” & “zebra” throughout her childhood. That she did not have people turning around in restaurants staring with scowls on their faces as they looked over her mixed raced family.
I am saddened though that she did not have the opportunity to thrive under 2 strong, committed, dedicated parents (now married for 60 yrs) to show her how to value all the aspect of herself, to bolster her self esteem & uniqueness (“ they stare because they’ve not seen beautiful girls like you”), & strengthen her to be a teacher to those whose ignorance didn’t have a place to ask the questions or by example show racists a reason to question their generational mindset.
I for 1, am immensely grateful to have had the above & will always consider in my DUTY to educate those around me, not take offense. ✌🏽🤞🏽❤

Queen Philipa's old paintings depicting her with white skin was normal for that time period. Artists wouldn't paint royalty as ugly, they would purposefully paint them as beautiful as possible. White skin was considered beautiful back than (over other skin colours). She painted her with white skin.
The hypocrisy of straightening her 'curly hair' which she has mentioned more than once as a detriment, seems to be lost on her.
I am Polish & Portuguese and very proud of that heritage. And that's a big part of how my parents raised me, my siblings. So when I first had to fill out a form similar to form in school. I asked my teacher what box I should pick. Because there was no Polish or Portuguese box i was quite young. She picked white for me. I will say I take after my Polish side while my sister takes after the Portuguese side to the point where people think she's can be from many ethnicities and then get very confused, why were sisters? And then we have conversations with people of does Portuguese count as being Hispanic?
But both of us, just pick white as default.

In the US, Hispanic people are counted as white. Then there is sometimes a sub-category of ‘Hispanic or non-Hispanic’ under White.

I am third generation off the boat on both side of my family both culture and heritage were very important for my family to give my siblings and I growing up. I hope that clarify that for you. I am extremely dyslexic so sometimes it's hard for me to write things and get my point across the way I intended so I hope this is helpful.
Okay but Heritage is not the same as race or ethnicity. You are American? And both Poland and Portugal are predominantly Caucasian, correct? Because I'm seeing a lot of these comments about people's Heritage being interchangeable as race/ ethnicity and I don't think that's what those boxes are about. I'm italian-american, but I never had an issue with which box to check. That's my Heritage, and it always was and still is very important to my family, but my race is Caucasian/white.
@mistym.8480 I think both things are entwine, but I see your point. I would agree that Poland is mostly Caucasian. Granted historically in the U.S. Immigrants from Poland, Ireland, and other countries by today standards would constitute as being heavily Caucasian population we're not considered white. I don't know, Portugal would be in the same boat. Because there's a lot of people who are Portuguese and from Portugal are Hispanic, whether they're white percenting or not. And that's where I think the rub is. That just because you're presenting a certain degree of Melanin doesn't always represent the race you are.

I’m UK born and bred. I see a black person here, I initially assume they’re British 🤷♀️ there is racism in this country, true. But thanks to the commonwealth & the Industrial Revolution, the UK role in Abolition we have been a melting pot for hundreds of years. America has different levels of prejudices that don’t really exist here. I went to school with black and mixed kids. I have worked my entire adult life with black people. As British as me ❤ I hate that they threw this shade at the queen who loved the commonwealth & worked so hard for it!

She grew up in LA, a highly multi-racial area. It would be the norm to have many bi-racial children in school with her. She wouldn’t have looked different. My children grew up in Sacramento, which is also highly multi-racial, but not as much as LA. In one school my daughter complained that no one talked to her because she was the only white girl in the class. Most of my children’s friends were bi-racial, and now my son is in a mixed marriage. If M felt out of place growing up it’s because of her own biases. Now she’s using it for attention and to play the victim. As far as the British Press talking about racism, I’m not in the UK, but what I heard and read was mostly positive. The person, IMO, that declared the RF as racist is Oprah, and M agreed with her.
Racism is not just between "black" and "white" people. Most countries ruling governments or royal families are single race

Heads of households fill out U.S. census forms, accounting for all who dwell there. Individual kids in classrooms do not. Not sure what form she was filling out, but it wasn't a census form.

Imo, Meghan's claim to Nigerian heritage is just a diversion as nothing Harry and Meghan do is without an ulterior motive. You just need to find it. About Nigeria, it wouldn't surprise me if Harry seizes the opportunity to represent African Parks' interest, particularly when it comes to expanding African Parks management portfolio in Benin, one of which sits right on the border with Nigeria. African Parks already operates in eleven countries in Africa but not in Nigeria. Another NGO, Africa Nature Investors, has already signed a 30 year deal with the Nigerian government for the conservation of two reserves, the Okomu and the Gele-Gele forests. But there are still about a dozen more reserves up for grab in Nigeria, which I'm sure African Parks would be interested in, and hopefully use Harry's influence as Harry and Meghan are extremely popular there at the moment. This is not a vanity trip per se but an opportunity to seal a few business deals.

The fact that no one treated her like a black woman always cracks me up. What does she mean by being treated like a black woman? Is there a difference in how women are treated based on their skin color? Meghan was treated much better by the British press than Princess Diana, Queen Camilla and Princess Catherine were in their day, so Meghan was treated better, is that what she calls the treatment of black women? Meghan got permission to spend Christmas with the royal family before she married Prince Harry, neither Diana nor Princess Catherine got it, I don't know if Queen Camilla got such benefits. Meghan also got to be in the family photo at Prince Louis' christening, even though at the time Meghan wasn't Prince Harry's wife. So a lot of what we've seen from both the royal family and the British press that shows Meghan was treated differently and better than everyone else, indicating that she's been welcomed by everyone and that's what she calls being treated like and a black woman. But when she says, Like a black woman, both her tone of voice and her body language suggest that there is a sense of humiliation in being treated as if you are a black woman. But since everything we saw and the people in the know suggest that Meghan was welcomed with open arms by everyone, it shouldn't be considered condescending, but it's also not condescending to be a black woman even though Meghan seems to see things that way. I think this conversation that Meghan has with someone that Meghan decided would be perfect for her show shows that she is the one being racist. Prince Harry himself has said that his family is not racist, he meant the royal family, but he himself has shown over the years both by his behavior and by what he says that he may have had some racism. So everything points to the fact that the racists in the royal family are exactly Prince Harry and Meghan herself, and you can also read about it in Omid's book, as you talk about.

I applaud you. This was an excellent summation of the hypocrisy of the great manipulator that is Markle. We often hear "justice warriors' quote MLK that one should be judged on the content of their character and not the colour of their skin. Well, many of us did just that when it comes to Harry's wife. We judged her character flaws. Many wouldn't have been able to judge the colour of her skin because she was as white as the dress and the ginger groom on her arm, the day she launched her brand disguised as a wedding.

As far as forms in the US identifying your race….now and way back at Meghan’s youth as well, there was ALWAYS an “OTHER” box. Yes, I was there in school back then, too.
For years I have chosen to check the “OTHER” box then fill in the word “HUMAN.”
However, if the form is a medical form I will check a box that better fits my heritage due to the fact that certain diseases often follow different ethnicities and doctors can give better care.

As a Scotsman I too have been on the receiving end of racism. it's sadly something we Scottish are subjected to by a percentage of the English.

I always leave the ethnicity box marked "prefer not to say" I mean, what does it have to do with most things????? Off it mattered, i would say because I'm not ashamed of who i am. My skin color, eyes, hair, etc does not define me. Likewise, i do not define anyone else by those parameters.
It has now become obvious how much MM must have researched not only the British RF but also RF from other countries. I recall reading somewhere that Grace Kelly & Rainier had a small civil wedding ceremony a few days before the big wedding…wonder if that’s where MM got the idea to say she & Harry had actually married 3 days before the big spectacle.

I grew up in LA in the 90s. There 100% always was an “other” box for any sort of standardized test info or any sort of anything you would need if gathering demographic information.

There is no room here for the values we fought for alongside Martin Luther King. The positive changes brought about by this truly great man are now being mocked and dismissed by the self entitled WOKE idiots. And yes, I am white, and I stood firmly behind Martin Luther King and gave him my full support. It breaks my heart to witness the attempts to reverse the hard-won rights he achieved. I guess this is what happens when schools stop teaching history because it might upset some students.

Color has nothing to do with anything, America is a melting pot and everyone is equal here. I am a 68 year old for lack of a better term black woman in America and I had no good thoughts or things to say about Megan when I was first introduced to her in 2016 because I seen absolutely no pictures of her with people of her mothers skin complexion therefore I knew That she was passing for White as they did back in the 1920s and up. and when she said, I’d never been treated like a black woman that gut punched me and I have gone through some racism, but that was a gut punch. That let me notice she had a distain for people of color, which means I’m thinking she hated her mother. That relationship doesn’t appear to be a loving mother and daughter relationship to me at all.

Oh yes. I live in the Canary Islands, where there are people from all over the world on a very small area. My husbands family is Amazigh origin, (northern African) and although i personally can see no difference in looks or tone of skin between him and a Spaniard, he has been the target of racism among his own, so to say. ( The Canary Islands is a part of Spain)

My kids father is Italian so our one child takes after him , my other child is very light like me blonde and blue eyes he was harassed all the time at school called a cracker. It was a tough time in his life. They left my daughter alone she has more olive skin, and a brunette.
