    I’ve just been diagnosed with major LBBB, my doctor has told me that I can die at any time.I never expected to get cardiac problems, being a sportive person, working out 5to 6 times per week, eating clean, not drinking or smoking, no fizzy drinks at all, I’ve been like that my whole life, I’m 46 years old;I don’t know if i still can to do sport at the level and intensity I used to do, or if I can have a coffee…what do you think i can do doc while I’m waiting for medical tests? I’m feeling exhausted non stop, dizzy, short of breath and having a constant chest pain.
    Thank you for what you do for us!😊

    I just got diagnosed with this today. I had no symptoms and problems of any kind. I only found out about it when I went into surgery for a septoplasty. Of course, they stopped that and referred me to a cardiologist. I see him or her on the 25th. I feel fine! I regularly go to the gym and I ride my bikes between 200 to 400 miles a week. Let me tell you that this news is a shocker! Do you think my physical activity could have brought this on? I don't want to slow down my cycling as I'm very competitive. I can give up the weights, but not my cycling.

      Thanks for your comment! Your description is very common, many people end up finding out about a bundle branch block by accident so don't panic. There are some simple tests your doctor can arrange to assess how the heart is working and provide you reassurance!

    Ischaemic heart disease is a major factor within my family. After leading a clean life, I was diagnosed with the same. Although saddened, I was not surprised.
    More recently, I have been diagnosed with a left bundle branch block along with a deviated left axle.
    I am completely asymptomatic and, generally, three times a week, attend an intense aqua aerobics class.
    Due to various reasons, I have been unable to attend for the major part of ‘23. I do intend to return in the New Year. However, when asking if this is no longer a viable option, I have been left with uncertainty.
    Would you, in your expert opinion, advise against this or may I continue please?
    Thank you very much.

    I had a pacemaker implanted in June of 2023. My diagnosis was a complete A/V heart block. My question is I had a echocardogram in July of 2024. And indeed my report states that I have a abnormal EKG [ RBBB] and a heart murmur. If I have a pacemaker already do I still have a partial RBBB? I just wonder if iam still having electrical problems?

    Thank you for the interesting discussion. Since RBBB is an electrical issue, and AFIB is also an electrical issue, what are the concerns about a right bundle branch block when one has persistent AFIB? How much does RBBB exacerbate AFIB?

    • @HeartMatters
      @HeartMatters  2 роки тому

      Great question Steve, you are correct, both are seen to relate to electrical issues within the heart. There is no direct link however between Afib and a right bundle branch block. Both can occur in isolation or together and show a slightly different issue within the heart (RBBB for example involves the electrical wiring at the bottom part of the heart whereas Afib originates from and around the top chambers of the heart. We will delve into this further in an upcoming Q&A!

    • @stevewaddell
      @stevewaddell 2 роки тому

      @@HeartMatters I look forward to hearing more from you on this. I'll also add to my concern, that because the ventricles aren’t working at exactly the same time, a right bundle branch block creates an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia.). And in AFIB, the signals in the upper chambers of the heart are chaotic. As a result, the upper chambers shake (quiver). The AV node is then bombarded with signals trying to get through to the lower heart chambers (ventricles). This causes a fast and irregular heart rhythm.
      So now we have an irregular heartbeat from a RBBB, and a fast/irregular heart rhythm from AFIB. So combined, they to me are concerning.

    Gr8 video 👌
    In case one has LBBB & 2D echo is normal then Dr says the person is fine. Heart muscles also conduct the signals, so even if one half works that fine, as per medical science.
    Bt I never understood with so much technology & medical advancements, why this can't be corrected/cured? Pace maker I guess is only needed when situation is severe & pumping becomes very low. Isn't at the end bundle branch block is jst an electricity wire problem? Don't we replace electric wires of home if they get broken or become old?

    • @HeartMatters
      @HeartMatters  Рік тому

      You really raise a great question. One new method we are now seeing for those patients who need pacemakers is to try and use the pacemaker leads to restore normal conduction. I have been amazed that things like left bundle branch blocks can be corrected using such new pacing methods (e.g. physiological pacing). I will have an expert on this talk to us about this very topic, thanks for your feedback!

    • @HeartMatters
      @HeartMatters  2 роки тому

      excellent quesion, the heart's conducting system is quite robust, when there is such a significant block affecting multiple pathways then most often symptoms will result. In cses where there is complete heart block, often pacemaker devices may be needed to help support the heart beat.

      @@HeartMatters if there is "damage" to the his bundle, (His-Purkinje System) how would you suspect? Would it result in junctional premature complexes, junctional and fascicular tachycardias, bundle branch reentry (BBR), and the role of apparent conduction in various forms of supraventricular tachycardias (SVT) with or without involvement of accessory pathways? And what would cause this in the his- purkinje system as far as damage? Was kind of curious, if maybe a patient with a his pacemaker had a misplaced, dislodged or an excess amount of "scar tissue" on a his lead(coil/electrode) could potentially be a cause? I understand if you can't answer this.

    Had an EKG done today for work and my Dr. told me it showed I have an incomplete left bundle branch block and he’s going to refer me to a cardiologist. @@epiphanyknows9308 I didn’t go to a cardiologist but I spoke with a family friend who’s an MD with decades of experience for a second opinion about what the NP who spoke to me about my EKG results told me. The MD told me that recent literature shows that an Incomplete Bundle Branch Block, left or right, is not significant and is just a common abnormality in the heart that is nothing to worry about as long as it isn’t presenting any symptoms. I do not have any symptoms and my cholesterol levels and bloodwork results were all in the low-normal range so he told me that he disagrees with the nurse practitioner and does not recommend seeing a cardiologist at this time.

      @@epiphanyknows9308 I am vaccinated and boosted, never knew I ever had Covid until this same Drs appointment when the NP told me I had Covid antibodies in my blood. I also had thoughts regarding if it could be related to Covid or the vaccine/booster I received since I never had this issue before. From what I’ve read online an incomplete right bundle branch block can potentially be revered through conditioning, and a complete left bundle branch block is not reversible, but there is very limited information on an INCOMPLETE left bundle branch block including whether it can be reversed or not. The NP did check “yes” for heart disease on my job physical form under “past medical history” which was shocking to me since I’ve never been diagnosed with heart disease! My MD told me that the NP shouldn’t have selected yes without me seeing a specialist like a cardiologist and an EKG is more of a screening tool and isn’t used to diagnose without further tests. He said he would have put “no” for heart disease if it were him. Regardless I’m not seeing this NP anymore and will be switching back to my regular MD because he made me feel like crap about my EKG.

I've had some elevated palpitations this past week so I decided to visit a Cardiologist. He discovered a RBBB on the ECG. He said the palpitations were called "PVCs". Could the RBBB be causing these PVCs?...he didn't thing so. He things I may have had this RBBB for a while now but I never knew it. I am on 200mg of Levothyroxine for the thyroid issue (he things that is a very high dose and possibly causing these palpitations and are checking on my TSH numbers this week). @HeartMatters  Рік тому

      good question, I will run a short video on this as many people get this concept confused. When we talk about blockages we usually talk about those building up as result of plaque inside the arteries. When we refer to block in the wiring of the heart e.g. left bundle branch block it involves the wiring often not functioning correctly and therefore not allowing 'electrical signals' to pass through the tissue.
