The 2.7 had lots of issues with the exhaust heating up the oil and making the timing belt break. You have to use full synthetic and make sure the timing belt is OK.
That car looks to be in pretty good shape. They were pretty decent on fuel and rode nice. That will make someone a good daily driver who doesn't have alot of money to spend on a vehicle. Great find
Excellent video Glenn :) I remember my late uncle bought 1995 werid spot battery was in trunk wheel well fender in abs plastic box on metal tray on right side on back seat area! Was strange car but fun work too and looking forward more videos soon ! Hi to mom too!
@@MyLegacyGarage I know it so wild even one surprises me on Volkswagen Bug or Bettle car in back seat or General Motors Pontiac Aztec in underneath the passenger front bucket seat Lol ! It surprises me too Lol were put batteries in anything anymore in vechiles and shake my head to say Why?
My uncle had a 2000 Dodge intrepid base model just like that one but it was blue in color, and cloth seats and all. He drove it the day he bought it until 2011 when a deer ran hit the side of it, and left a huge dent in the back-left door of the car, he drove it a few times, but then after he got a new 2010 Ford Taurus, he left it abandoned and rotting for 10 years outside my grandparent's garage, I did a tour of the car myself back in 2021 when it was already abandoned for years, the battery was certainly dead, moss was growing on the wheels, hood and roof, and the tires were deflated. It was only just recently when my grandfather decided to haul it off to a scrap-yard, because my uncle didn't really do anything with it and left it basically rotting in the hot sun and freezing cold winter for over 10 years. I don't know the full story, but I was told my uncle wanted to do a "project" and my guess was it was too expensive to fix up the car, so that's why he didn't do anything with it for that long. I think the lack of care and respect people have for cars now have definitely shown why cars of the last 20 years have been scrapped, neglected and left to rot.
It's tough to beat a free car for sure. Thanks for watching and especially for the editing praise. Made Jessica's day as she likes doing it, is quite skilled and doesn't get enough credit. 👍
Yeah I've got one of the Concordes are the same thing if I remember right they all should have the flexible plastic wheel well which I would just push with my hand turn the battery on its side pop it right out also I saw your job that's true as soon as you connect the cables back up the horn always blows good work nice little getting around town car
It'll make somebody a good beater car. I've no use for it but they were in a pinch to get it outta the driveway and free was the right price. 🤣 Thanks for watching as always!
Do what we can. Pretty limited free time these days. The last two videos got started shooting months ago. Have one other one that's like half done too I'm looking to wrap up in the next month or so. 👍
That 2.7l engine is a very bad design- internal chain driven water pump and oil return jokes too small in the cylinder heads and the oil sludges up . A/C evaporator cores always leak along with the a/c condenser. Transmission too- it’s not the greatest car but drive it until it dies, take the license plate off and walk away. Good luck 👍🏻
It certainly displayed a will to live. I was not expecting it to just fire right up. Hopefully someone can get some use out of it. Thanks for watching!
Not the worst cars in the world, we had one of the 94 3.3 variety when I was a teenager. Definitely their weakest link is the transmission. Luckily the one we had, the battery was in the normal spot. This particular variety they should have put the battery in the trunk. Did you know Chrysler used the Intrepid as a concept car for the Chrysler 300 Rear Wheel Drives. This variety should have been Rear Wheel Drive, also.
There's nothing wrong with a free car. Apart from the stupid place they put the battery... Jump start? Forget it... Cool heater, btw. (How did nice stuff get to be called 'cool'? Give me warm anyday)... 🤔🇬🇧👍

Now this was truly a flip where I did basically nothing. Sold it for a grand though so not terrible. Thanks for watching!
Me and my family went on holiday to Florida in 2001 and hired an almost new 3.5 V6 Intrepid. It could really shift and was very reliable
Love to hear nostalgic memories these videos bring up. Thanks for watching!

Yeah I figured it'll be worth it to somebody who just wants some cheap transportation. Thanks for watching!

What ever happened to normal battery locations? 🤣 Thanks for watching as always!

That's how cars end up sitting for years and years. Somebody always has a plan but life often gets in the way. Thanks for watching!
I see a couple different opinions in these comments. Mine is that you can't beat a free car! Good video and editing too!

Loved those cars loved to find one we had them in our family don’t see them around
I have one in my yard I'm gonna put up for sale soon. Just saying. 🤣 Thanks for watching!
My parents had the older body style and this one. I preferred the old one personally.
They were sharp cars back in their day. Thanks for watching!
Keep those videos coming

I prepped these things for sale back in the day.
Nice. I gotta prep this one for sale. Any tips? 🤣

You'll be amazed how quick it is and good gas mileage always has for me
I've heard they have a little giddy up in them. Hopefully whoever ends up with it can appreciate it. 🤣
That's probably the last known running 2.7L engine in North America.

I could see where a rear wheel driver version of this car would have been fun at least. It'll make somebody a good transport. Thanks for watching!
Looks like you got a Corvette covered up there
Sure does doesn't it. Wonder what variety it might be? 🤔
@@MyLegacyGarage I'm going to say a C5 Corvette
@@jamesthev5607 close. Slightly cooler though as it's a C6 with goodies. 😁
These motors were bad for head gaskets, I stuck to the 3.5.
I've never had one of these before. Not gonna have this one long. 🤣 Thanks for watching!
Mint!!
For southeast DC absolutely. 🤣

Remote terminals for jump starting. What a great idea. 🙄 Free cars are definitely the best cars! 🤣 Thanks for watching!
