It's so obvious now but it has never occurred to me that simply scraping a dirty hammer handle will clean it somewhat. Just goes to show you are never too old (70) to learn something new. By the way, not sure about the red paint and although the cutting side is too small to be a true axe you had no choice but to remove the broken edge. Can still be used by a roofer or for whittling but the hammer side being so long must have affected the balance.
All it takes is razor blade and a bit of sanding and handle look nicer. I'm glad you picked something up from my video. You are right about the balance. It feels front heavy. It won't be my everyday hammer. Only for special jobs. Cheers
What a great restoration 👍👍
Thank you 😊
Mechanical Wonders Skill Beyond Imagination
Thanks 👍
Too nice to put back to work. Should display it in a shadow box. Thx!
Thank you. It will go on my wall with the rest of the restoration. I will use it in case of emergency 👍
COOL !!
Thank you 👍
Hatchet of Damocles? Mini boarding axe? Oompa Loompa Poleax?
I like it. That's good 👍
The reason the hammer head threw off so many sparks is because it is harden. More that likely the axe side is worn past its hardened metal.
Thanks. That is interesting.
👍👍👍👍👍
👍 thanks 👍

You worked hard.. but you made it too small as an Axe 🪓...
It's a roofing hammer. It still does the job 👍
I don’t see where he had much choice. The only other option was to ignore the broken part. Great job.
