I think it might still be true if we're strictly talking about DF powers that *actually confer their eaters with the power of flight, and not about creative ways that some DF eaters use their abilities to fly. In the former case, we only have 3 confirmed/canon DF holders with the innate ability to fly.

So, my conclusion is that he was simply misinformed. There are 3 types of devil fruits. Zoan types are like chopper and the head warrior where you transform between your normal form, a beast form, and a hybrid form like a werewolf. Logia types are like Crocodile, Smoker, and Ace where your body is made up of a substance like sand smoke or fire. You can also control those substances and emit them. Last is Paramecia types which are sort of random and don't fit under the other 2 types of fruits

im sure someone on patreon has said it but i needed to comment something: 5 fruits are KNOWN to provide the power of Flight. very few can and there are of course people like smoker and all that who can propell themselves forward but aren't truly flying.

Oda once stated that if a regular human were to eat Chopper's fruit they'd be gifted enlightenment, and trying to each a second fruit kills you, or more specifically makes you explode
And humans are another animal! Zoan is just the ability to transform yourself into any known living thing, but of course specific and only 1 animal besides your own.

Also if they really need information or understanding about something that's already explained then I'd guess Patreon members already help them out with that. Honestly the one piece community is pretty good as a whole, but it feels like every other person wants to leave a hint. Some blatant, others notsomuch. But with a million hints its hard to avoid figuring things out.
Hinting is annoying but explaining information they missed or need is fine. These guys reactions are great but they pick up on things extremely slow. The guy thought Pell (the falcon) ate the same fruit as Chopper. Like… clearly not. One becomes a bird, one a human. Starts to get frustrating when they can’t use their brains and always make odd theories that don’t even make sense.
Theory crafting is great, but the theories these guys make have no base and are already proven wrong the moment they vomit it out of their mouth. Like in naruto they think danzo and tobi are the same person, how would that even make sense.
They dont read youtube comments. Whenever they talk about comments, its usually for Patreon. Tho I do hate that people keep hinting stuff lol.

Yes, you should get excited about this story. Alabasta is one of my favourite arc, and this is where shit actually gets real. One Piece has literally just started.
The Pell quote about only 5 types of fruits that give the power of flight is highly contested in the community lol. It could be that maybe only 5 at the time were documented as we know there are some that ARENT documented. Or it could be that only 5 give the specific ability to fly like a bird does through the use of wings. But when it comes to this fact, its better to not invest in it too much as being an absolute truth.

And yeah, to what you said about being interested in this part, I'm almost caught up with the anime, and Alabasta is still one of my favorite arcs in the entire series. It might even be my favorite, because there's so much cool interesting stuff that happens in it. So I don't blame you for being amazed by it.
To be fair, the word "crocodile" references an animal we can all reference. I don't think it's wrong to question the names as Oda is very intentional in his naming.

There is OBVIOUSLY gonna be more than 5 fruits for flight I think they just mean categories because they would have just worded it 5 fruits instead of 5 types of fruits
But we already know the categories of fruits lol unless were counting every single animal type as a type of fruit? Which I would not. There are only 3 types of fruits though, not 5 or more. Those would be individual fruits, not types of fruits. I think a translation error happened honestly.
@@ZappyZ21 You misunderstood what I meant as we do NOT currently know anything about Devil Fruit's besides the fact there multiple types and the ones that do turn you in to an animal are part of the Zoan family. We don't know other categories like Luffy's fruit or sub categories yet

Remember the little hints of information dropped here and there, like how sea prism stone is just available at a specific sea. Then the name of the Whale where they met Crocus. Even the paper that Ace gave Luffy
The thing with one piece is that the first arc is still building erery character and the story itself, over that strong base the full and crazy story develops

well right now counting all ep and not adding the movies and any side eps that do not count for fillers. there is around 1086+ eps at the time with the final sea arc being the last of the show. we can get about 490 more eps with them to come, and that not adding more eps then 2 at a time. plus they do the fillers. but they mite be cutting a good number from the list, so the count will be 300 at most with any added ep that is still to come.

My understanding is the five devil fruits that allow flight line has always been a misnomer either from the character or the author if not both.
Overall there are three kinds of fruits Zoan, paramecia and logia. There are five types of devil fruits that grant the ability to fly.
the reason you're this invested in the story (alabasta saga) is because we're past the introductory phases of one piece which is east blue saga, and we're now getting the first large and cohesive story

Devil fruits are complicated to explain without spoiling, but there are many many kinds of devil fruits but there are types and like subclasses of each type.
Someone that is caught up, this whole part was interesting to me, I think he meant 5 different types as how he said bird bird model falcon fruit. So bird devil fruits are the flying class he is talking about but there is probably 100s of bird bird type fruits out there. The model is what is different, there should be no other bird bird model falcons in existence

Devil fruits are basically three type:
Zoan: Basically gives characteristics of any animal (actual or mythical) like Chopper, Pell, etc. These usually have 3 transformations. One human type, one animal type and one hybrid. Only Chopper has 7 transformation due to his Rumble Ball
Logia: They are known to be strongest where their whole body is made of a certain element. So, they can't be harmed by physical attacks since it goes through them. Example: Smoker who is made of smoke, Ace who is made of fire, Crocodile who is made of sand. These are most rare fruits and most powerful
Paramecia: Every other types are these like Luffy or anyone else u seen. Thesr are most common and can be strong based on how it is used, like Luffy
Not many fruits grant u flying. Mainly those with zoan that has a flying animal characteristics
if you watch longer, you will know that there are not only five classes that can fly.. especially in the newly released episodes, there are new classes of Dfs that can fly
no spoiling but the quote in the scene refers TYPES and not the total number because there is OBVIOUSLY more than 5 species of birds in the world

its more like oda didn't plan for the series to go on so long and he had a much shorter version of one piece planned before it became a phenomenon in japan. and just didn't have the devil fruit powers planned far enough ahead at that point

Being spoiled free, here’s just an explanation that doesn’t hurt to know by now as you’re fairly deep in and should be common knowledge. Devil fruits are split into 3 types: paramecia, logia, and zoan. Paramecia gives you qualities of something (ex luffy is rubber). Logia give you an element (ex smoker is smoke and ace is fire). Zoan let’s you transform into something (ex pell is a falcon and chopper is human). Not gonna go further into it from there but yeah. Also I’m caught up and watching this I have no clue what Pell is talking about when he says 5 types of flight. Probably early writing mistake

I think it might've been the 5 different types of Zoans that can fly (and there are multiple different models of each of those types), not literally every individual Devil Fruit that grants it user the ability to stay airborne.
