Update March 3, 2023: Many Huel customers, us included, recently received word that they will be discontinuing the peanut butter flavor. Very sad news for us since in our opinion that was the best flavor by quite a large margin. There are still plenty of other good flavors, but just be aware you won't be able to buy the peanut butter flavor after June or July I believe. Original Comment: Hope you guys enjoy this video even though it's a bit different from what we normally do! We just thought it would be fun and interesting experiement, but we would never recommend that anyone does a major diet change without easing into it and/or talking to a professional. Before this challenge, Jason was consuming 1-2 meals of Huel per day consistently so as not to shock his system. :) Also, even though it's in the video I'll say it here too: this video was not sponsored by Huel!
This drink saved my life. It helps a lot with my eating disorders. Due to not eating for days at a time, I have no energy to even stand in the shower. I get nausea and start coughing and breathing heavy. Have to take breaks between small tasks. So I can't even stand long enough to cook. This only perpetuates the problem, As because it takes too much effort to cook and too much energy to even stand, I just don't eat. I nibble on things. My eating disorder started shortly after These girls on youtube started bullying me and calling me fat. The process of putting food in my mouth and chewing is not enjoyable. I have plenty of almond milk to make Huel with. It's high in nutrition and low in effort. So I get to keep myself healthy while I'm fighting this eating disorder and trying to get my diet back on track.
As someone who sees cooking solo as a huge time sink (especially working a 9-5) the idea of being able to make something nutritious in a few mins cheaply is quite appealing. Literally all I eat is chicken/fish, vegetable and fruit.
@@MaggiePiesAmén. I have adhd and this stuff has been an absolute boon from heaven. Whenever I don’t feel like cooking which is most of the time, I drink Huel. Whenever in a social situation, I can eat normal food.
I've been considering Huel for so long, thank you for being the guinea pig for everyone else out there trying to send on a budget! You a real one master Hoops.
@@buffalowick8003some flavors are better than others. I like the cinnamon roll flavor. Chocolate flavor. Recommend soaking it for a few hours in fridge. And add ice fruit and banana
I have ADHD and autism and almost never experience natural hunger signals. So I'm looking for a meal replacement shake to keep my calories and nutrients up. When you don't feel hungry even the tastiest food just doesn't do it. But I can stomach a drink.
Another thing about huel that you didn’t even mention is that it’s vegan. I’m myself not vegan but that does make it desirable to a wider audience which I think is great! I know this video is a year old but I just recently ordered huel for the first time and when it arrives I’m planning on using it for about half of my daily calories for the foreseeable future. I’m not a climber but rather training for strength and agility (hoping to play college football). Should I document and make a video about my experience with huel? If anyone actually sees this comment let me know what you think.
I'm planning to replace all my unhealthy meals(basically all 2 of them) with huel to start my training routine. It would be beneficial for you to record your experience, then you can think about sharing it with us
ive done huel for several months at a time. choco huel with frozen berries and a cup of coffee for breakfast and hot and savory varieties for dinner. now i dont trust protein from plant based stuff solely so i always added some meat to mine....i never had such digestive issues. with the chili i add a small about 1/8 lb of ground beef, with the cajun pasta i will ad a small link of andouille sausage, and i add chicken chunks to the mushroom and pasta...chase it down with a beer and its quick and filling dinner.
I have been using Soylent for a few years, and basically came to the same conclusions: I like it, keep lots of it around, it comprises half my daily nutrition, it's super convenient and cheap enough, I have minimal cravings, and better health than pre-Soylent. I'm a sedentary 67yo retiree. Properly engineered & evolved meal replacements are a great addition to our survival & prosperity kit.
Thing is, I ordered the Black version of their powders and started using it for breakfast. Two scoops, add 50% water and 50% oat milk (gluten-free), and that just gets me through my days. Not just a bit, but better. I have more focus, I have more energy, I feel happier, I feel content, and it makes me feel healthy. The difference with me is quite extreme perhaps, because I never ate breakfast (or lunch) at all because I'm a lazy SOB, and if I did eat something it would be a sandwich with cheese or something (I'm Dutch, sue me). The contrast is extreme to say the least. Perhaps I could accomplish the same with a balanced diet and a healthy breakfast and lunch, but: A. that would take a lot of time; B. that would require regular shopping; C. that would require me to keep track of my supplies; D. that would require more dish washing; E. that wouldn't be nearly as complete as what Huel promises;. F. it would cost a lot more money per serving. I still eat a normal dinner every day. Also a freshly made and healthy and pescetarian meal, 4x a week, that I just need to warm up. Full of healthy ingredients, too. And then once a week I eat in a restaurant, once a week I just order in something (usually sushi), and the last day of the week I have my cheat day and anything goes. Huel won't replace my entire diet, but it'll stay for breakfast and lunch for sure. Just 2 scoops and 10 seconds of shaking and I'm good until dinner.
@@HotTakeAndy Weight loss is the difference between energy in and energy out. Huel won't help you out in any way if you still consume too many calories. I'd consult a dietician, drink more water, stop drinking alcohol, and avoid sugars. And even then, if you eat too much, you'll gain weight.
@@HotTakeAndy As long as your calorie intake is less than your calories used/burned by living/exercising etc, you'd see results. Huel would come in handy by having all the vitamins, minerals and so on to keep you healthy and feeling good. As Maha said below, lowering alcohol intake and sugars (if applicable) also helps a lot. If you were to combine exercise with just Huel / Huel + Healthy other meals + healthy snacks, you'll definitely see results, as long as your calorie intake isn't higher than what you're using. However, if you were consuming the same amount of calories as you're burning, but still exercising well and having a healthy nutrition going, you'll see bodily changes in performance, more muscle and less fat, it just won't necessarily drop those weight numbers, but still affect you beneficially
@@HotTakeAndy A serving of huel is only 400 calories. FDA recommends 2000-2500 calories as general nutritional advice depending on gender. If you go and get fast food, say, a burger, fries, and a soda that's about 1100 calories. So you would have to eat fast food twice to hit that target. In my experience it's actually quite difficult to eat too many calories unless you're trying really hard. An egg only has 90 calories, so the classic eggs + bacon + toast is like 500 cals. Just 1/4 of your RECOMMENDED goal. And most people skip breakfast. Eat homemade lunch and dinner? You probably won't even be at 2000 cals. The easiest way to hit 2000 calories on accident is eating lots of sugary stuff or eating lots of snacks. Even among people who are overweight you would be surprised to find that their calorie intake is not as high on average as you would expect. The issue is the way your metabolism reacts to sugar, which makes your body more likely to hold fat. Once you're overweight the cycle feeds itself. The easiest method I've found to hit your calorie targets is to skip breakfast and if you snack make it something low calorie like baby carrots.
@@matto6019 have you tried apple cider vinegar? I seem to developed GERD symptoms as a long term covid side effect after covid. just recently tried ACV and it seems to be helping, also I’ve noticed certain mouthwashes and toothpastes are a trigger, apparently the mint type ingredients relax the oesophagus.
@@kevedwards oh my , 4 months late but seeing this reply rang true with EVERYTHING i deal with. After COVID i started having alot of Stomach issues, and this may sound gross,... but every morning after brushing my teeth ( mint toothpaste ) i would end up Gagging... NOT vomiting, just Gagging. I thought i was losing my damn mind. But now i know i am somewhat NOT Alone. I just purchased some HUEL Black, and it should be here Tomorrow. I am hoping and crossing fingers it helps sort out Some of My stomach Issues. I know it will take a few weeks to notice the Full benefits,.. but i can deal with the issues if in a few weeks it gets easier. Sorry for the book i just wrote. Just was glad to see im not the only one dealing with issues and especially with Toothpaste... my wife was thinking i was going crazy hahahaha
@@dantediss1 unfortunately the HUEL just caused more heartburn but hopefully it will be ok for you, I still use it as a meal replacement on the weekends before early climbing sessions but if I have it more then a few days on the run my heartburn comes back. Other things that have helped though is I don’t use mouth wash anymore, most of it does more harm then good anyway but I make sure my tongue cleaning is good n point, I think the acid reflux was causing ulcers, not eating too late and unfortunately cutting our Caffeine which has MASSIVE health benefits, sleeping way batter and consistent energy throughout the day.
Very helpful and good timing. I currently have a Huel bottle for breakfast because I’m not hungry in the morning so a drink is doable. And I’m going to start using their savoury meal for lunch and just have a proper complete dinner in the evening. Will save me time so much time during the day.
Thank you for this video. I've been using Huel as a meal replacement for things like Breakfast and Lunch, sporadically over the last year or so... for times when I am pushed for time, or so tired at the end of the work day that I can't be bothered to cook. However I've never considered huel as a total replacement, because I have a wife and daughter(teen) who have their own personal thoughts on a liquid only diet. I did try a 1 week trial of "only huel" but the family situation made it very difficult to achieve (normal cooked meals needed preparing anyway), and in fact I only managed 4 days before admitting defeat and joining my family with their routine. I'm in the armed forces, and I have a period away from family/home coming up so I've been looking up case studies regarding huel only diets. One big push factor in this case is the financial implications. My family at home will be spending almost identical amount of money on the weekly grocery shop as if I were there, so sustaining myself whilst away will be an additional cost to our family income. I will have limited cooking facilities, and likely no refrigerator to keep fresh food from spoiling. There will be a food hall with prepared meals for me, but even with that facility available to me, Huel will be able to give me the neccessary nutrition, whilst also maintaining my own fitness, at a fraction of the cost of cooking or eating in the food hall. Average cost for a breakfast is between $5-10, lunch is roughly the same at $7-12 and evening meal is closer to $10-15.... this is PER DAY. I worked out that if I were to limit myself to the absolute cheapest meals available in the food hall, I would be spending $22 a day or as much as $37. Over a 30 day period that's between $660 and $1110 per month, just on food, for MYSELF. Plus there's absolutely no way that the food hall meals will have the neccessary nutrition. On a combination of Huel Powder 3.0 and Hot n Savoury, that financial implication drops massively to under $300, with the added bonus of being much healthier and nutritious than whatever food hall meal I decide to eat. This video has pushed me over the edge in favour of at least trying out Huel for 30 days, then we will see how I get on with balancing food hall meals with Huel as a way forward. Thanks again.
Excited to hear your results. I started using Huel on and off about a year ago as well. Just purchased Hot & Savory for the first time, and plan to have that once a day along with two shakes, along with snacks/fruits/etc throughout the day. Looking forward to it.
Thank you for making this video I'm recovering from an eating disorder and I'm really struggling with eating at least 2 meals a day and I'm researching for something easy to add so i can get enough calories, vitamins and co through my day until I'm abel to eat normal again and don't rely on the cravings for sweets that make me eat at the moment
Hey I was diagnosed with critically low iron, vitamin D and B1/B16. I've been eating 3 servings of Huel plus normal foods (mostly Tuna, Turkey, Chicken and various veggies/fruit). I've been drinking Huel for 3 months so far and feel so amazing. Before my body was in such critical condition that I was having suicidal thoughts and depression but I'm ok now based on just diet and going for at least 1 hour walk a day
Thanks for the vid! I watched it and decided to still do the Huel only diet, but made sure I get plenty of water after watching.I take multi-vitamin supplements also just incase. So far, nothing negative. For me it's the time saving + easy to count calories. I also like being able to just sip away at the shake as I work, it seems to stop me wanting to snack.
It’s great to see your opinion on Huel. I usually don’t give myself enough time to cook breakfast before work in the mornings so I like to blend a quick smoothie 2 scoops of Huel, a handful of spinach, 1 big chonk of peanut butter, 1 cup frozen blueberries, 1 spoonful of honey, and a nice combination of hemp, flax and chia seeds. The Huel is WAY cheaper than protein powder and gives me the energy I need before climbing. But there’s no way I could see myself going on a full Huel diet.
Everyone has different caloric requirements, but the proportion of nutrients is obviously always the same, so basically you *will* be overdosing on some nutrients. In some cases this is completely fine, like water-soluble vitamins that you will just pee out, but fat-soluble vitamins might pose a problem. The powder really should be split up into two components, one that forms the bulk of the calories and whatever vitamins and nutrients that it's okay to receive in excess, and another component that forms the basis of the other nutrients which need to be more closely monitored. This way each person could combine the two components in the proportion that makes sense for them and their caloric needs.
Interesting to see that the amount of potassium in Huel is apparently lower now than what is appearing in the video (3200 compared to the 4700 here), according to their website
If anyone else published the video, I would have thought they were being crazy, but I know you’re legit so I clicked and watched the whole thing. I love the idea of using a powder to supplement meals when I don’t have time or motivation to make a meal - thanks for sharing!
Hi, I was wondering how much water you drank each day, not counting all the huel drinks? This would help me a lot figuring out how much is healthy to drink aside from my own huel mixes. Also another question, we are now 2 years further, do you still use Huel?
How much water you need depends on your weight and if it is hot and you are sweating a lot. Google says 1 quart per 50lbs of body weight on an inactive day. At 120lbs I try to drink at least 2 quarts a day. It is easy to keep track with a Ball jar. I saw an article saying a woman died from drinking 2 quarts of water all at once so don't try that. In the Army they would have us chug a 1 quart canteen before bed every night and no one died so I don't go past that. Personally I notice that my skin starts breaking out when I'm not hydrated so the state of your skin is a good indicator. If it looks unhealthy you aren't getting enough water.
Question. If your BMR was ~2800 calories a day, how many meals of Huel would you have each day, given that each meal/shake is 400 cal? Is it as simple as saying you had Huel 5-6times a day?
I just ordered some yesterday.. I figure if I can replace the fast food I eat In a week 3-5 meals atleast 😅 It will be good for me. I've wanted to change my diet for so long but a mini kitchen and the cost of fresh healthy food has always given me a copout. Glad to see such an in depth review
@@Enexaya literally just made one fight now for breakfast.. after over 1 month I love it. Get some ice and a blender. I highly recommend the banana flavor. I add half a banana and a couple strawberries to it sooo good. The chocolate is good too and the coffee flavor is decent but the least favorite of the 3 flavors I've tried. Overall highly recommend I've replaced 2 meals a day with it and have never felt better honestly
Great review and loved the silliness and very well organized video! Awesome! I've also loved huel forever so I think I'll start sticking to it more than I have lately!
Hey you've got the same old Vitamix I do! Things a beast! And thanks for the inspo to get back into Huel. I remember feeling much better back when I was having Huel for most of my meals...
i never had huel, but have had soylent. It is a great energy booster for when I felt tired or sleepy. Seeing how huel also have bags for their powder, I'd recommend getting a container to put all the powder in. More easy then re-opening the bags. Also a funnel if you tend to spill powder everywhen when trying to put it into your bottle. Thinking of trying out Huel and see if there's a difference. Only complaint I have with these food alternatives is that I tend to burn calories easy when I do workout, So I would not be able to live off of only huel or soylent.... Plus food taste good and sometimes you should chew to keep your jaw muscles active.
You might be a psycho if you only drink huel lol.. I can do 2 heul and 1 regular meal atleast if not 2 regular meals a day . It is great for a substitute for quick meals when you might hit a drive thru instead like I used to.
Hey, have you considered doing a video on Beta Alanine? I've been hearing about it for like 10 years and some people swear by it, others say it's BS. Would love your analysis.
I started Huel this week to replace my dinner during work hours, I’ve had issues with heartburn and gut health since contracting Covid and Huel seems to be a trigger, after doing a bit of research it seems it’s quite common that Huel is causing acid reflux at a guess it may be that that the liquid is diluting my stomach acid causing my asparagus not to close as most heartburn is actually caused by low stomach acid not high but that’s a total guess. Just something to be weary off if any heartburn sufferers are planning to switch to Huel.
Top video and glad it worked out! Huel has made up the majority of my diet for the last 5 years now. From v1.0 through to 3.0, with all the side products new and discontinued. The breakfast cereal is missed! All the while training 4 to 5 times a week. There is no easier way to eat healthy and count calories imo. The combo I've settled on is Huel for breakfast and lunch on weekdays with a regular meal in the evening. It strikes a good balance of convenience while being healthy and keeping any real food cravings at bay. I will be screwed if Huel ever go out of business!
@@ModMyTech no idea. I'm 44 and natural, so prob not great, but I'm still training weekdays at a decent level. Can do 20 wide grip pull-ups and have no trouble getting it up for the misses 👍
As an SLP, thank you PT brother for this review! Working in the hospital, I do t have time to eat and was considering Huel for the plant based ingredients. 😀
you'll poop a lot more and your farts will be worse for a while. after 2-4 weeks your stomach will be used to getting the right amount of fiber. most people don't get enough fiber so you'll be okay.
Nice to see an non-sposored Huel video. The benefits of Huel has been a sporadic subject for discussion in the saunas at Klättercentret and Klätterverket for some time. Have not tried it yet but seen good results from a friend. Might try huel instead of my Lental-greenpea-celery-agave smoothies in the future. My friend had nothing good to say about the flavor, but that should be fixed with a splash of agave and some pineapple/mango. In the past I made salmon smoothies before going home from the sushi where i used to work, so it should be ok. Thanks for another informal episode.
I‘m using Huel for several years now. It’s perfect, when I come home late after working all day and a climbing session afterwards. I’ve never had a diet with 100% Huel, I’m just supplementing it, when I don’t have time to cook. Thanks for confirming my own results!
I'm considering trying the food bundles, how do they taste to you? Especially compared to regular food. For me the taste and texture are more important than some miracle weight loss thing so I just wanna know if it's actually nice.
Great stuff! Thank you for sharing. Which specific Huel products were you using and which specific products worked best for you? Huel lists quite a few product options on their site, ranging from Huel Daily Greens powder, to Black Edition, to Ready to Drink, Complete Protein, etc…so I’m just curious what your Huel dietary regimen was comprised of. On a side note, I added several Huel products to my daily diet roughly 3 months ago. This was purely by chance as I randomly stumbled across the product while watching Steven Bartlett’s terrific interview with Neil deGrasse Tyson. Steven’s passionate endorsement piqued my interest, so, I did a bit of research and decided to give it a go. I purchased a month supply of “Huel Daily Greens” and Huel Ready-to-Drink (Banana Flavor). The first month went so well that I’ve continued taking both on a daily basis for the past 90 days or so. In the three months since integrating Huel Daily Greens and Ready-to-Drink into my daily routine, I’ve lost 24 lbs of bad weight. I’ve never felt better or more energetic.
I’ve been using Huel for about a year now and it is great. I work morning shift, 7AM, at my county hospital and I would get very groggy after eating sold food for lunch. After switching to Huel for my lunch breaks I don’t get that lethargic feeling after. I do eat my usual home cooked or take out meals after work so I did not completely replace my meals with it. Safe to say it has definitely worked out for me and have added their green drink (similar to Athletic Greens) to my subscription
This was what I needed. I am going to do the same challenge. thanks for your sharing! How many times did you drink Huel per day? I need to loose some fat and build muscle. Any tips?
My tips would be to drink meal replacements only during the day and have a regular meal in the evening. So there's less chance of going to the bathroom at night because of a high water intake. Besides the obvious benefits of a regular healthy meal it's also mentally satisfying so it's something to look forward to and fall asleep more easily. The amount you to drink and eat can be calculated roughly with an online calorie calculator. The ratio of macronutrients is also important depending on your specific goal. You can also track your food intake with a nutrient tracker (I use Cronometer). But it's not necessary if you're sure you're roughly on target. Good luck!
Awesome man I so happened to stumped upon this video and it was the first one I watched from you thank you it was not boring to watch and very informative
Really liked the holistic nutritionist. Was looking for a 3 day a week meal replacement lunch for throwing back during surgical days. Frequently just 5 minute window in my routine that I can eat between 50-70 minutes cases. Generally tiny lunch in two parts, often suffering conversation.
I'm very curious, how many meals do you have per day? How many calories per meal? Do you consume huel asap after training or do you wait a specific amount of time?
I’m quite adhd and fixate a little too much on eating, but now I’m super stressed with school (Electrical Engineering) and eat too little. So now I’ve purchase huel and I can’t wait to get into a schedule food wise, while also getting good protein and nutrition. I’m also dieting and this way I can easily track my macros
I had trouble eating well for lunch with work being a thing. I've been drinking a Huel for lunch for a while now and eating real food for dinner. It's gone great. I love having some on hand.
Personally I love the peanut butter, but I'm a big peanut butter fan in general :) The chocolate is always a classic, and the café latte is pretty nice to add actual coffee to! There are tons of flavor combinations, though!
It would be interesting to study the effects this challenge (or any other meal replacement) has on your gut microbiome. While Huel does claim to have bacterial additions to support gut health (one species of bacteria and kombucha), it does not seem like it would be an adequate substitute for eating diverse natural whole foods. Just something interesting to think about. Otherwise, really interesting video!
I never heard of huel. how does maximum vibrance compare to huel. I have benefitted from max vibrance. I am thinking on doing a 30 day diet on max vibrance
Something that’s also worth considering is food intolerances you may not even know about and how different huel products feed into that. For example, i get on fine with their powder, but their bars have added inulin (a dietary fibre) which i am intolerant to, so they gave me terrible cramps like you described. 🙃
Great video! Been using Huel on and off for years as a supplement to solid food. However, one thing at 15:47 bugs me. The phrase "created in a lab" is so loaded and inaccurate. Sure, it was probably designed in laboratory conditions, but so are many processed/ready-to-eat foods - even chocolate bars are designed by food scientists in a lab. The actual stuff you're eating will be made in a factory, not laboratory. And the majority of foods we eat - bread, chips, spices, sauces, and any fruit or vegetables (non-GMO and organic included) that are packaged will also have passed through a food factory. The reality of mass food production is food laboratories designing recipes for food factories. I understand that in the context of this video you're not trying to scaremonger, but I think that "created in lab" can really put people off. I hope this comment will help people not to worry about it so much!
I got what he was saying. This isn't the same thing as going to the supermarket and getting a head of lettuce and cucumbers and lentils and tomatoes and making yourself a salad or stew. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging that. That's the trade off.
Just ordered some on a whim after seeing someone praise the taste/flavors of Huel over Soylent. I really enjoy Soylent (Original) but the con is that the pre-made bottles are expensive and the powder only comes in 2 flavors, amazing (Original) and nasty (Cocoa). The price is pretty crazy at almost 2x Soylent's though...
Ive recently bought some Huel, but not as a meal replacement, as a meal addition. Im needing to put on weight so Im going to try and chase every meal I have with a Huel to double up on calories
Awesome video. Thanks for being the guinea pig. Interesting results as well. I’m definitely going to get some Huel for days where I forget or am too lazy to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
This video reminded me of the company called Soylent when they first launched their experiment video prob like 10 years ago and I remember they were having some health issues and I didn`t think much after. Surprised how far this powder thing got tho. I was a bit worried whether you had enough fiber since I imagine drinking a ton of liquid would make you have watery stool, but it seems like you didn't have problems sooo I'm definitely interested to add this to my diet in the future as supplements!
Huel actually has a ton of fiber in it, 25% the daily amount per serving. It’s also extremely common for people to not eat enough fiber, so you’re almost certainly eating more fiber on Huel than you wer before
I am recovering from cancer but seem to not be able to recover from the weight loss, lost over 30 lbs., I have never been overweight. This sounds like a great way to get enough calories without have to eat eight times a day, I find it difficult to eat what to most would be a regular size meal. My question is when you say to stay hydrated is there an optimum ratio of Huel to additional water, like 8 additional ounces of water to each 8 ounces of Huel mixture?
Sorry to hear! I don't know of any optimum water-to-Huel ratio from an objective standpoint; I think it just depends on how thick or thin you want it to be. The important thing is to make sure you don't stop drinking water throughout the day because you think you're getting it all from Huel.
i only ever do one bottle of huel in the morning, and thats it for huel, light lunch and light supper, works a treat, the huel in the morning keeps me fuel almost the entire way through the day, the light lunch tops me up and the light supper is because i get better sleep with food in my stomach, i feel that my way of using it is a much more viable way to go, it makes more sense and doesnt overload the body with nutrients
Would this be a good replacement for a daily breakfast? Does it keep you full? I'm looking for something that will be good for breakfast and help keep me full until lunch break. Currently I have eggs and hashbrowns, but I need to swap to something more convenient and healthier. Let me know your thoughts.
Studies and gut mechanics would support more solid foods to help with satiety so this may not make you feel fuller, but also foods with more protein will make you feel fuller.
I may or may not be eating huel whilst watching this (tomato and herb) definatly helps if you wanna consider eating less meat also This is my first day eating huel and gonna drink alot aswel i need to get back into climbing also as i stopped when the first lockdown hit
Although I have used Huel in the past I have tried a dozen of brands that offer the same product to end at Powdermatter, which has a perfect formula and price in my opinion. The last two years I have been eating about a third of my calories through shakes, really convenient and it helps with my weight control and protein intake. And its a blessing for climbing trips, a shake for breakfast and lunch with nuts in-between finished with a normal cooked dinner over camp stove gives so much energy for climbing and is really cost effective.
Wish I was 100% sold on this. Unfortunately I don’t understand why sucralose and all these other fake sugars are still being used. That stuff literally makes me lightheaded so it can’t be that good for you.
I can't have Sucralose either. The Huel Black Edition doesn't have sucralose. Tge Huel 3.0 in the white bag does. Buy the black and you should be good.
Can you make a video about Creatinin, Bcaa and Caffein as climbing suppliment ? and when do you exactly take them. it would be really nice to hear your opinion.
I'm going to order some Huel after watching many videos and trying the ready-made shake bottles. I will likely only have it once a day for a meal that I don't have time or energy to make from scratch. Anyone with IBS probably shouldn't have too much Huel in a day due to the high fibre content!
I want to do something like what you did with Huel only, maybe over the course of a year eating nothing but huel and how it affects my performance in my eSport practice. See if it improves my consistency with my aim and what not. I wouldn't mind doing a year long case study.
hello, I originally watched this video about two months ago and it was the reason why I got into huel and honestly I can’t remember my life before it. Has absolutely been life-changing for me so thank you for this video. i am consuming about the same amount of potassium (6345 mg) as shown at 10:03 and was wondering if drinking more water like you did fully resolved the concerns you had with having too much potassium or if that’s just a Band-Aid and I’m still overworking my kidneys and heart between huel and drinking a ton (at leastttt 152 ounces including huel) of water? I can deal with the insane amount of lethal farts it gives me but the potassium issue you talked about has been in the back of my mind ever since starting huel.
The thing about huel powder is that you reach 100% daily recommended value of all your micros at just 2 servings a day with 5 servings to reach a 2000 calorie diet. So I think its great for supplementing for 1 or 2 servings a day, but having regular food for the rest of your calories.
Sadly, I’m an anomaly / outlier and can’t drink it because it messed up my stomach so badly. Within an hour, had to rush to the bathroom (from premix bottle). Tried the powder one a few days later and same issue. Gave the $160 of Huel products to a co-worker and he was fine. 🤷♂️ Tasted great though. 🙃
I try huel 3.0 since yesterday (just for breakfast ), and i don't feel very good at all...somes stomach issues, and my energy level seems to be very low, i feel tired. Maybe my body needs time to adapt. I 'll continu few days to see what happen (sorry for my english^^)
Oh dang! Sorry you didn't feel as great with it. Everyone may respond differently. Food is definitely a challenging area especially with the many diverse aspects of each persons gut biome.
I looked it up cuz I saw Huel advertising a lot on Reddit 😂 now I’m keen to try cuz the flavors and cuz I’m just lazy and this is gonna super easy and time saving to make
thank you for this. I've been trying Soylent (to those reading this, AVOID Soylent, their company is just horrible) for about a month and they refuse to get their ordering issues straightened out which is their biggest complaint from customers over years - they refuse to be cooperative - so today after your video I ordered mine Huel. I loved powered food form, works for me and helps me mentally and physically as I'm a jogger want the best nutrient possible while maintaining everything else. Thanks again for your video
I have been looking at this because I have Crohn’s disease and due to surgery I don’t absorb all of the nutrients I consume. I also like going out for long scenic walks, and photography, there have been many times were I run out of energy on these trips. This usually happens when I’m alone, if my friends are with me they usually spur me on, which is great but I usually pay those consequences days later. I also thought of this because my appetite is poor, usually through fear of needing the toilet, but a lot of the time I’m just not hungry.
there is a meal replacement company in Russia - digital meal but it costs as much as eating at McDonald's I wonder if huel is actually selling at a massive loss in the west
actually, comparing their best deal meal replacements to 6 nuggets value combo, its about 30% less calories per ruble and they only have 2 flavours which I heard are alright but you can't live off of just banana and vanilla
The interesting point about what the dietitian says, as so many dietitians and nutritionists do, is that the “negative” comments on why she prefers whole food don’t really have anything to do with nutritional content. She says she just likes her oats. I’m not saying this as a criticism, but more to highlight that criticisms of Huel seem to be based on the lack of pleasure eating it compared to “real” food, which is subjective. The rest of the video hits the nail on the head for me as Huel makes the tedious parts of sports nutrition way easier.
I appreciate your work put into this video! I’ve been considering supplementing my diet with a complete nutrition food such as this, mostly for convenience at the crag or after a long day. When you say that you’re continuing to use it, what is your use case? Outside the house or at home? Start or end of the day? Some clarity on this would help greatly!
I have it twice a day (mid morning and early afternoon) and blend it with ice, water, and unsweetened almond milk, so it’s about 900 calories a day worth of Huel. The rest of my calories I get from making regular meals for breakfast and dinner. On climbing days/trips I have about the same amount or more Huel if I’m feeling lazy about making regular food. I believe Jason generally consumes more than me (possibly over 1500 calories) while at work and on climbing days, but I don’t know the exact numbers. My favorite flavors are chocolate mixed with berry, chocolate mixed with peanut butter, and salted caramel. :) - Emile
Update March 3, 2023:
Many Huel customers, us included, recently received word that they will be discontinuing the peanut butter flavor. Very sad news for us since in our opinion that was the best flavor by quite a large margin. There are still plenty of other good flavors, but just be aware you won't be able to buy the peanut butter flavor after June or July I believe.
Original Comment:
Hope you guys enjoy this video even though it's a bit different from what we normally do! We just thought it would be fun and interesting experiement, but we would never recommend that anyone does a major diet change without easing into it and/or talking to a professional. Before this challenge, Jason was consuming 1-2 meals of Huel per day consistently so as not to shock his system. :)
Also, even though it's in the video I'll say it here too: this video was not sponsored by Huel!
You should poke Emil about repeating your trial.
Do you eat the same amount of calories on restdays as training days? Awesome vid btw :)
as a climber do you think there is enough collagen in huel? have you ever used a collagen suplement? great video!
I have no idea what you normally do, but I very much enjoyed this. Thank you

Would you recommend it for weight loss (incorporated with exercise of course?)

A person does not need breakfast unless they do blue collar work.
It should be illegal to be this stupid
Good to know. It's weird they would use the upper limits rather than somewhere in the middle....

Glad to see such an in depth review

i never had huel, but have had soylent. It is a great energy booster for when I felt tired or sleepy.

I‘m using Huel for several years now. It’s perfect, when I come home late after working all day and a climbing session afterwards. I’ve never had a diet with 100% Huel, I’m just supplementing it, when I don’t have time to cook.

I drink almost exclusively Huel for around 3-4 years now. (I can eat fast food once a day with it) Never had any issue.
Huel made me loose weight and look younger and i have much more energy. I swear by the stuff..
Loved the video! What flavors do recommend ?:)
Personally I love the peanut butter, but I'm a big peanut butter fan in general :)
The chocolate is always a classic, and the café latte is pretty nice to add actual coffee to!
That is quite interesting! Great point. It would have been interesting too study that before and after.
So how is yogurt good enough for people then?
@@orionishi6737 eat nothing but yogurt for thirty day.
@@sivartb7273 Huel has more stuff in it than yogurt does.
Just add a fruit and vegetable smoothie in with the blend
Yeah I use for 30 days too here in Brazil (here is branded “foodz” ) and I kind of like it but it’s to expensive to make sense to eat.
It certainly is convenient! They got a lot more flavors and products now too.
I was happily surprised with that as well! Glad that it wasn't an issue
Huel actually has a ton of fiber in it, 25% the daily amount per serving. It’s also extremely common for people to not eat enough fiber, so you’re almost certainly eating more fiber on Huel than you wer before
Is there any sodium in it ?
Wait how didi you get over that over consumption of potassium?
The high potassium was almost certainly caused by dehydration. Once he was hydrated again his potassium levels went back to normal.

This is not a Huel advertisment. Nutritionist, I will always have huel on hand, huel huel huel is my choice of supplament! HUUUUUEEEELLLL
Thank you, this is the exact video i was looking for.
Huel? Hurl?
Thank you for genuine review ❤
You had me at Dietician and topped it off with the comment on "Nutritionist"
Wow! This video is amazing and very helpful surprised to see you only have 24k
Wish there was a way to tell how much water to drink and when
Would this be a good replacement for a daily breakfast?
With a normal bag and camel packs I don’t see why carrying a couple gallons of water should be any sort of problem along with the powder
Now what if I eat regularly but huel it up for like say... lunch time?
That’s what I do pretty much every day
Wish I was 100% sold on this.
What about for losing weight?? I need to.
Can you make a video about Creatinin, Bcaa and Caffein as climbing suppliment ? and when do you exactly take them. it would be really nice to hear your opinion.
Yeah, we’ve been meaning to do that for a while, thanks for the reminder!
The thumb nail says "Powered food" intead of "PowDered food"
Haha thanks for the heads up
How is your monthly food expenses $600-800. How much do you eat??
I’ve been using Soylent Green for years. Now that stuff is perfect.

I'm going to order some Huel after watching many videos and trying the ready-made shake bottles. I will likely only have it once a day for a meal that I don't have time or energy to make from scratch. Anyone with IBS probably shouldn't have too much Huel in a day due to the high fibre content!
Once a day is a great way to go!
Watch part four again in the video
Sad! Yes that definitely does not sound like a fun experience!
How many scoops of Huel did you eat per meal?
Day three and my mental health has improved so much.
That dietician has some of the finest abs I have ever seen. She must have worked really hard to look so great and healthy.

Great video, informative and entertaining!
Been wondering about them since they are easier to buy then Huel.
I also thought of this because my appetite is poor, usually through fear of needing the toilet, but a lot of the time I’m just not hungry.
there is a meal replacement company in Russia - digital meal
but it costs as much as eating at McDonald's
I wonder if huel is actually selling at a massive loss in the west
actually, comparing their best deal meal replacements to 6 nuggets value combo, its about 30% less calories per ruble
and they only have 2 flavours
which I heard are alright but you can't live off of just banana and vanilla
The interesting point about what the dietitian says, as so many dietitians and nutritionists do, is that the “negative” comments on why she prefers whole food don’t really have anything to do with nutritional content. She says she just likes her oats. I’m not saying this as a criticism, but more to highlight that criticisms of Huel seem to be based on the lack of pleasure eating it compared to “real” food, which is subjective.
The rest of the video hits the nail on the head for me as Huel makes the tedious parts of sports nutrition way easier.
this was freaking awesome and inspirational
is this from before they had the greens?
Yes
