    LNBF skew refers to the angle at which a low-noise block downconverter (LNBF) is mounted on a satellite dish. The LNBF is the device that receives the signals from the satellite and amplifies them before sending them to the satellite receiver. The skew angle is the angle at which the LNBF is tilted from the vertical axis of the dish.
    The skew angle is an important factor in satellite dish installation, as it affects the polarization of the signals received by the LNBF. In order to receive the strongest and most stable signal, the LNBF must be set to the correct skew angle for the satellite or satellites you are trying to receive. This angle can vary depending on the location of the satellite in the sky, and the location of the dish on the ground.
    To achieve the correct skew angle, the installer typically uses a compass to determine the cardinal direction of the satellite, and then tilts the LNBF to match that angle. The skew angle can also be adjusted by rotating the LNBF around its axis, allowing the installer to fine-tune the alignment of the dish for maximum signal strength.
    For a motorized installation, the skew angle on the LNBF must be at ZERO.

    Thanks so much for replying, and I will remember the RG-11 since I didn't know about that cable. The system is now working fine and I am so happy until people are probably tired of me saying it. I find myself watching this system more than my subscription television and will be buying another receiver this year to use with this system for another room. Thanks so much for the tip on the cable and I will be shopping at Sadoun more in the future.

    The declination angle is the angle between the magnetic north and the true north. It is the angle between the direction of the Earth's magnetic field and the direction of true north. It is measured in degrees, and varies depending on the location on the Earth's surface. Declination can be positive or negative, depending on whether the magnetic field points east or west of true north. It is important to note that declination changes over time and varies with location, so it must be regularly updated for accurate navigation using a magnetic compass.

    The video is very helpful and the only addition I would recommend is the location where you would use to adjust the elevation of the motor which gave me a headache since I was using the wrong one at first.

    The satellite dish angle, also known as the elevation angle, is the angle at which a satellite dish is tilted or angled towards the sky. This angle is important for properly aiming a satellite dish at the specific satellite in the sky that it is intended to receive signals from.
    The elevation angle is measured in degrees and typically ranges from 0 to 90 degrees. A dish that is aimed directly up at the sky would have an elevation angle of 90 degrees, while a dish that is aimed horizontally would have an angle of 0 degrees.
    The azimuth angle is the angle of the dish rotation that indicates the direction of the dish pointing. Together, the elevation and azimuth angles are used to properly aim a satellite dish to receive the strongest signal possible from a particular satellite.

    The motor has two scales. One says Elevation and the other is Latitude. Just use the latitude side and set it to your location's latitude. Simple as that. No need to worry about the dish offset angle. Just set the dish elevation angle per calculator on our website and you are all set.

    My dish, motor, and receiver is working fine now and I love many of the channels I receive. I just have to figure out which cable is causing the receiver to stop sending power to the motor sometimes. There must be a bad cable somewhere in the two attached.

  • @semco72057
    @semco72057 15 років тому

    Since my last comment I have been able to get over 12 satellites and have added some which was not programmed into the receiver. Right now I am losing my power from the receiver to the motor and think that it is in one of the RG-6 cables running to my receiver. As soon as the rain stops here I will start replacing the closest one to see if this problem is solved. I am fairly sure that one of the cables is bad and is troubleshooting the problem.

    Good video. At 1:21 you say the dish angle is at 35 minus declination...how is the dish at 35? Thanks.

    One way to get True South is to use Google Earth and then lock it to true north/south orientation. Then you can locate useful landmarks to get the direction right.

    Still a little fuzzy about elevation. I undrstand setting the motors elevation but where do you get the number for the dish's elevation?

  • @latinomix22
    @latinomix22 15 років тому

    What satellite do you point at once you have the true south?? For example i live in toronto canada and the true south would be 190 W ...... but do you point the dish to a specific satellite or just leave it at 190W??

  • @phpeters87
    @phpeters87 13 років тому

    Easiest way to find "True South"
    Divide the time evenly between Sunrise and Sunset for your location.
    Turn the motor and dish assembly by hand towards the Sun at that time.
    Tighten down the bolts and adjust Dish Elevation according to specs.
    That's it - You're finished.
    Takes about 5 minutes.

    I have the dish set up according to the instructions on the site, but still receiving weak or no signal. The best I keep getting is 9 on signal level and quality. On one satellite the quality signal will flash to 60 percent temporarily.

    I am able to get great video on my Mercury II receiver, but the receiver lost all the satellite Longitude, and Latitude information. After some work I have tried to install the latest information using the loader program without success. The loader program works up to where it is waiting for the receiver to accept the upload. The receiver does not do anything when I turn it on after the loader program is run.

    @mTa700 Yes you can and you will need to use a 4-way DiSEqC switch.

    Hi, I have a satellite dish that has two cables which are Nilesat and Badr (Arabsat) but I also want to add Hotbird with them which means there will be 3. I heard that you can just set up a Hotbird LNB on it and it will work, but I'm no expert and I tried to research but I couldn't understand how to, Any Help Please?

      The motor will not work at your area. It needs to be modified, since the dish will almost be facing up

    What satellite are at 97W?
    There are several satellites that are located at the 97 degrees west longitude orbital slot, providing a variety of services such as Television, Broadband, and Data services to North America, Central America, and parts of South America. Some of the known satellite at 97W are:
    AMC-9, owned by SES, which is a Ku-band satellite that provides television and data services to North America, Central America, and parts of South America.
    Galaxy-19, owned by Intelsat, which is a Ku-band satellite that provides television and data services to North America, Central America, and parts of South America.
    Telstar-19V, owned by Telesat, which is a Ka-band satellite that provides broadband and data services to North America, Central America, and parts of South America.
    EchoStar-105/SES-11, owned by EchoStar and SES, which is a Ku-band satellite that provides television and data services to North America, Central America, and parts of South America
    Note that Satellites at the same orbital slot may have different coverage areas, frequencies and some may be commercial, educational, or government satellites.

    Actually the elevation of the motor is not exactly the Latitude, and you forgot the Dish Offset tilt angle. There is a clear explanation here : satsig(.)net/polmount And a good calculator here for those two values : satsig(.)net/ssazelm It avoid many headaches and time wasting finding correct signals.
