    Great video! Would you mind sharing the final formatting/Custom Handlebar code?

      Thanks so much! I don't have that particular site anymore, since it was on an old tenant of mine, but I may recreate it to update this video. If that's the case, I'll post it on my GitHub site and let everyone on my channel know!

    How to display the mobile number? What slot should be included?

    • @stevecorey365
      @stevecorey365  9 місяців тому

      As long as you have it mapped to a managed property, you can display any data!

    Hey Steve great Video as always!
    Still got some questions:
    -Why does the person card hover function disable itself when turning on custome mode?
    -What is a good source to learn how to get use to the style change possibilities?

    • @stevecorey365
      @stevecorey365  10 місяців тому +1

      Thanks so much! I appreciate it!
      The person card hover will stay working if you customize the results template, but not if you manually change that layout option to Custom. Let the web part switch it for you, which will occur as soon as you change the results template.
      If you're trying to learn CSS, My go-to site is usually W3Schools, which has been around for a LONG time - www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp

    Which video is the referred "previous video" mentioned at ua-cam.com/video/3QrAcFgYmro/v-deo.html?
    I'm trying to make that query suggestion to my search box, but all I get is circle circling around without any suggestions... meh. :/

      The pinned comment has a link to the whole playlist, but the previous video to the "part 3" video is part 2 - ua-cam.com/video/ooVh8TE2Q0Y/v-deo.html

      I've watched it and it was very useful (as these all are). However, do you have a video of making a custom search query suggestions provider? The internet is empty of that...

      I don't have a video yet that covers this, but I've actually been thinking about creating another SP Search related video. This would be a great one, so look for this soon! Thanks for the suggestion!

    Thanks Steve your videos are really useful. How could I customize search results with adaptative cards? Id like to get to know how to custom a document search result and its filters 🙏

    • @stevecorey365
      @stevecorey365  10 місяців тому

      Thank you so much! For adaptive cards, you'll want to search for the adaptive card designer (adaptivecards.io/). It's how most people build them out, but I'll warn you it doesn't translate very well to PnP Modern Search. The various tokens to represent your data have to be manually added. I'm still working out the process myself to get it working with PnP Modern Search, which is why I haven't added that to my PnP video series.

    can you talk about how to do column sorting?

    • @stevecorey365
      @stevecorey365  Рік тому

      Sure! Is it just the process of configuring sorting, or is there a specific challenge you're facing that I can include in addition?

    • @lancenguyen7975
      @lancenguyen7975 Рік тому

      @@stevecorey365 Already figured out. 1. Add fieldName to Edit Sort List. 2. Pick/Select them in Select sort Field from Manage Column. Thanks anyway. I'm new to Sharepoint and PnPSearch.

      New to SP... AND you're tackling PnP Search? I'm impressed! It's a daunting set of web parts to comprehend while also learning SP itself. Let me know if I can help, but keep working with it and soon you'll love it!

    1:19 I don't see "Department" in that dropdown. "BaseOfficeLocation" is also missing in my list, but i got "SPWebUrl" and "PictureThumbnailURL", which you don't have. The "Department" mapping in Search Admin Center is the same as yours. Do you have any idea why this is and how i can add this to the list? Thank you.
    Edit: Under "Available Layouts" the option "People" is selected. "Result Source ID" is set to "LocalPeopleResults". And "Department" is not available for me under "Selected properties".

    • @stevecorey365
      @stevecorey365  8 місяців тому

      You can add custom fields to user profiles, if you don't happen to have one. Getting the data into the profiles can be done in various ways. Pulling the data out and presenting it was what this video was about.

    • @stevecorey365
      @stevecorey365  8 місяців тому +1

      One other thought. If you do have Department, but it doesn't show up, you can go to the last page in the web part properties and click on "Import/Export" to see the raw configuration data. From there, you can find where the layout slots are, and add it that way. I do it all the time!

      @@stevecorey365 Hi Steve, thanks for your suggestion. The following solved my issue: I opened the PnP - Search Results settings and clicked on the "Selected properties" dropdown. I waited until the List loaded and typed "Department" into the Field and pressed enter. It then added Department already checked to the list.

    Hey @stevecorey365 Great video and channel , finally found an amazing video resource that explains the webpart in detail :) Just had a question I cant find the drop down option of Department shown at 1:20 in the video, how do I get Department into the "Choose a field" drop down list ?

    • @stevecorey365
      @stevecorey365  Рік тому +1

      A couple of possibilities:
      1. Make sure you're already using the People card layout.
      2. Make sure your Result Source ID is set to LocalPeopleResults
      3. Make sure you've got Department selected in the Selected properties
      After setting all those, Department should show up in the layout slot dropdown

    This is super useful. One question though, how to default to current user's department or manager when the page loads?

    • @stevecorey365
      @stevecorey365  Рік тому +1

      Hey Muthu! Well you could try and use jQuery inside the search results template that can attempt to set it, but I feel that's a bit clumsy and prone to failures. What I'd do is use the Extensibility library inside PnP Modern Search to develop a custom component. It'll take some Sharepoint Framework (SPFx) knowledge, but that would be the most reliable way to insert javascript to get the proper values and update the department filter's default value. You could also go with a normal SPFx application customizer, which does add javascript to the page, however since you wouldn't be running inside those PnP web parts, it would be harder to do what you're trying to do. The bottom line is that you need custom code running inside the web parts so that they can "talk" to them directly, instead of simply modifying the DOM of the page.
