As a former Marine in an anti-armor platoon in the second Iraqi war, I could really relate to this one. There were a few creepy things that would happen there.
Such as? 👀 did you experince anything?
There’s no such thing as a *_”former Marine”._*
@@sajp8859 there’s no such thing as an “EX” Marine. Lol, I am no longer active duty.
@@matthewhummel1572 No Son--if you were in the Marine Corps, then you'd know this: _"According to the Commandant of the Marine Corps, no such person exists. “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.”_
@@sajp8859 🙄 Dude, some of us aren’t fanatical about it. Yes, I’ll always be a Marine, but I’m no longer active duty. Therefore, technically I’m a former Marine. There’s no such thing as an “EX” Marine.
Excellent story Doc. , being a Marine from 1974 - 1978 I was at Camp Pendleton for 20 months , Okinawa for a year and finished out at 29 Palms . The desert during war games at night can be a bit eerie the shadows and various other things . Guard duty at night gives your mind plenty times to hear things that can be a bit unnerving . But I enjoyed my last 14 months in the Mojave Desert in the Corps . I'm glad we never had those fucked up sandstorms like in the story . Once again Doc. you pulled another rabbit out of the hat . Semper Fi , Thanks .
*HOLY SHIT.*
I think the only other story I've ever listened to that got me nearly as tense as this was Penpal.
This is some of your finest work yet! Thank you so much for the time and effort you put in to it!
When does it get intense? I am an hour plus in and bored to death.

If the Doc thinks this is one of the best he's read, I can't wait to hear this! Love ya Doc!
many thanks for your kind words!
He says that about them all..
catherine donoghue he has said that about several stories, but most definitely not all of them. And, well, that is what one of the best means.
Not bad but definitely not one of the best. This could easily be a 30-minute story. I normally love the long ones but this was dragged out way way too long for too little action
Yes,Dr Creepen has done it once again, sheer brilliance &that voice!!!!!!!!from another sexy lady.
Hey Doc, I know you probably won't see this, but I love your narrations. Thanks for helping get me through undergrad and other tough times in my life. You have a real positive impact on people's lives. Hope you have a great 2020

I love the long ones, Doc. You do an exceptional job of story telling. Thank you for the skill and labor it takes to complete each work. For me, another well spent evening with one of your works of art. You beat the crap out of anything on TV. 'Til your next one.
glad you enjoyed it :)
Whoever wrote this was either a soldier himself, or certainly did his research. As a soldier I'm very impressed by his knowledge of weaponry, procedures and even the feeling after your first confirmed kill. Brilliantly put together. Only 20 minutes into it, but loving this story so far.
yeah, this one was brilliantly written!
@@DrCreepen he should seriously consider taking the next step in writing and try get into the publication of his work on paperback and hard copy.

Ciara storm here in London 80mph ! Again perfect timing. I’ve just spend 2h completely emerged in to the story while the wind is crushing in to my windows.Thank you .
This story started out like a regular war story and a man with a phobia.
As it proceeded, I found it had some nice touches of Lovecraft. Thank you. Have a wonderful day and stay healthy ♡
WOW!!! I had to spread this story over 3 different devices. I don’t often get a full 2 hours to just sit back and relax and listen to your stories. So I did the next best thing. As I said, this was spread over 3 devices, so I would sit back and listen to about a half hour then put it down and do some work. Then on to another device in a different place, the only “problem “ was that I would have to go back a little and repickup the story. This would go on for a while until I finished the story and it was definitely worth it.
Thank you for this epic video. I still have a few more longer episodes but I put them on my Watch List, so I’ll have some great videos to listen to on long trips.
Apologies for the profane username, decided to strive for anonymity when I was younger. Started listening when it was the only entertainment I could handle during a concussion a while back. Started out of necessity, stayed because it’s high quality. Love the vids, man.

Same, the longer the better. I pretty much invariably listen at work, so the more time I can spend actually listening as opposed to looking for something to listen to the better.
I actually stayed awake during that one.. usually fall asleep during your longer narrations, but this one.. I could not stop listening even when I had planned to take a break half way through.
2 hours is a lot!
This is one of the very best stories narrated on your channel. My only question: Why didn't either the military or the civilian psychiatrists think of hypnotizing the narrator? And why didn't the narrator think of contacting parapsychologists to see whether they had ever heard of something like his experience? Those questions aside, a great story. I heard it all the way through in spite of pain in my back that wouldn't let me sit still for very long -- In kept shifting around to keep it under control, then took two pain pills to deal with it so I could listen to the rest of it without distraction. Wonderful story!
that is a good question.
Well it is implied that the Pentagon knew about similar phenomena and kept questioning him about his experience. Plus I believe his account was supposed to be non disclosure and classified.
I love this channel you where right this was absolutely amazing and the way you read all these stories is just brilliant this is probably my favourite creepy pasta channel

Wow! This one WAS good! You weren't kiddin' Doc! I've gotten to like the military/supernatural story, because of Breach and similar stories you've had. I have a Marine son-in-law, as I've mentioned before,so I had great sympathy for the characters, especially the protagonist. His PTSD came from fighting a foe no one would believe existed, poor guy. Hi Dr. Creepen! I love the long stories but this one was so good it went by in a flash! I love this author snd your voice togrther. This story really came to life for me. Super cool
Yay! I think I voted for this one.
I remember about 1966, my parents & i were on a long ship cruise & we left our ship in Port Said in Eygpt to spend a few days in Cairo, ostensibly to visit the Pyramids & Sphinx & shopping too
After our visit we had to rejoin our ship at some port along the western shore of the Red Sea.
A special coach had been organised to get all of the ships passengers who had opted to go to Cairo, back to meet the ship.
It was a surprisingly long journey from Cairo to the Red Sea port, & we were set to enjoy the trip.
However once the sun set it was unbelievably freezing travelling through the desert!
We'd been told to expect cold evening weather & its hard to imagine when the daytime temps are scorchingly hot
So on our coach which was a luxury coach with heating & A.C.
Even with heaters on the cold is
Like travelling in a freezer!
We were so grateful my mother had bought some pure wool Pashminas in Cairo, as we swathed ourselves in them for warmth.
Also we ran into a sandstorm en route, to see it approaching was very scary, as it looked like a monstrous, gigantic herd of Sky Buffalos approaching on the horizon & is reddish brown
The ferocious swirling wind & sand is frightening to be in,
Our coach battled through as much as possible until visibility was nil & we had to stop.
The noise of the wind & the abrasive scraping of blown sand against our coach was truely scary & we half expected all the paint from the coach to have been sanded off, you cant tell anyone how frightening it is,
You have to experience it to know how dreadful it must be to be caught without shelter during such a sandstorm!
Our coach was rocked like a cradle in the winds
Luckily ours didnt last that long
At least not the days it could have lasted, but we were late in rejoining our ship.
We had to board a large fishing boat to get to our ship & because of the notorious currents in the Red Sea & esp at night, it took hours to board because as we approached the ship the currents pulled us away & so we stood on board, the fishing boat, freezing to death on the Red Sea for 3 hours trying to reach our ship ( it should have been a swift 3o - 35min trip during the day) we eventually boarded our ship at 3.45am feeling frozen & bedraggled!
But it was worth it
Seeing Cairo & the ancient monuments.
Ive still not experienced going through the Suez Canal though!
As we left our ship before it went through.
I have been through the Panama Canal & its an amazing experience & a tribute to the captains piloting skills as the space between the side of the ship & the wall of the canal is almost reachable if you lean over the side, its just inches to spare.
Thank you for this story it brought back memories from my desert experience
Regards & Peace

@@DrCreepen You got it. ! It's the best thing to cure those winter Blues.
When we first got to Fallujah, the Hummer that we were using was not an armored Hummer it was more of a transport vehicle. ... Lol it was one of the older Humvee trucks instead of the SUV and this thing was an absolute beast. It had an 8.6 twin turbo diesel and that b**** hit a hundred miles an hour so fast. It would do zero to a hundred and back to zero in just over 13 seconds.Just to give you an idea of how fast that is. A formula 1 or F1 IndyCar race car does zero to a hundred and back to zero in less than 9.5 seconds . One of our wrote, Hummer skyline R33 GTR v-spec on the back of it with a sharpie. He got reprimanded for inappropriate use of a combat correspondent tool.
I was an M1 tanker with 11 ACR in the 80s. Can relate to alot of this. As a note, the driver almost always slept in his position (very comfy), but the rest of us slept on back deck. No way to get comfortable inside. If we crashed inside, we were beyond tired and always woke feeling like crap. Great tale.

Love from Texas ♥️🤠🌴
I knew that when the US Army 82nd Airborne deployed their entire division to Saudi Arabia in 1990, we would be getting into one hell of a big firefight, and I wanted to be in on it. We don't deploy that many paratroopers somewhere unless we intend to seriously kill stuff to death. So, in August 7, 1990, I quit my band and cut off all my glam metal hair (I saw the beginning of Full Metal Jacket and didn't want some sadistic barber butchering my scalp) and strode into the local US Marine Corps recruiting office and confidently declared that I wanted to be a Devil Dog tank crewmember. The recruiter, naturally was ready to sign me up, saying that the Corps would gladly welcome a highly motivated, highly dedicated young Marine recruit into their force of M60A1 Patton tank battalions.
"WHAT????" I said. "The Marines don't operate the new M1 Abrams? Look, I like the M60 Patton and all. It's a great tank. But the Marines are still operating the older M60A1 and they are going against the best tanks that the Russians had to offer! Hell, the Saudi Arabians are operating the more modern M60A3!"
The Marine recruiter shrugged, "The deployment came faster than our transition into the M1. We'll get the Abrams soon enough. But for now, we are going to war in the M60A1."
I, at least, had to admire his honesty. But, if I wanted to go to war in an Abrams, it wouldn't be with the Marine Corps. With a heavy heart and a lump in my throat, I crossed the hallway and entered the US Army recruiting office. Thirty years and five combat MOSs later, I finally retired. I still managed to serve with the Marines, though, during my last deployment to Iraq. There were a little over 300 of us, mostly Marines, surrounded and outnumbered hundreds-to-one by ISIS lunatics on a small compound we still owned inside Al Asad.. The Marine colonel in charge welcomed us Army guys by saying, "Gentlemen, we are outnumbered and surrounded. There are 12,000 screaming ISIS fanatics between us and BIAP. They got us exactly where we want them."
Marines are a never say die group of warriors and I'm glad they are on our side. I love this story about a Marine M60 crew completely decimating some ancient evil. I can only imagine how the AAR went:
After Action Report: C2/3, Charlie Company, 1st Armored Battalion, 1st Marine Division,
"Surrounded. Outnumbered. Blah...blah...blah... What else is new? Told my loader to load beehive, gunner, target a bunch of prehistoric Scooby-Doo spook rejects. Told driver to run tank in a wide circle as me and the loader engaged with coax while the gunner fired beehive. Target scattered. Told loader to load SABOT and instructed gunner to target the Halls of Montezuma looking thing sitting in the middle of the desert. Ancient god, smoked. Nothing follows."
Come to think of it, I have some stories of weird stuff which has occurred after 30 years in the Army and several years of being deployed. Maybe I'll drop you a note?
Quick question, if your tank is inexplicably lagging behind and the radios stop working in a sand storm exactly like this one, wouldn't it be wise to fire off a short burst of 762 into the lead vehicles turret?
The armour would obviously stop it. And the whole platoon would suddenly start paying attention, thinking they're in enemy contact.
I doubt that's legal, but desperate times, right?
@Florida Ladybug maybe,. LONG term regermortis? Just Joshen ye. !😁😁😁🙏🐸
Got to thank you for your service. Sir. 🙏😶😶😶😶😶😶😶

Inspired by the ‘lost city of Ubar?’ Also similar to Lovecraft’s ‘nameless city....’
recommendations!
It was very Lovecraftian in theme. But you can't go wrong with that. I loved the story. Excellent author, and, as always, excellent narration.
So good!
I very much appreciate the effort and time you put into these.
Thank you 😁
