So happy to have caught this video right now, I've just begun sowing seeds (Long Island, NY, zone 7A). Thank you for sharing all your gardening knowledge with us, Gary. Implementing many of your tips, my garden last year was the best so far! I recommend The Rusted Garden to everybody 😊 Thanks again, have a great night 🙂🌱🌷🥬🥦

A very thoughtful approach to planting these. Having my “salad bar” tower right on my back deck is a delight. I KNOW I eat more greens this way. I planted mustard greens on my bottom tier - these would be for my hens and the meat rabbits. Hmm. Hens found these immediately and nibbled off the leaves in short order 🤣
So fun picking a salad from one space. Mustard greens are fast growers too,. Thanks! Over 1500 gardening videos on my YT channel. Here is how you can support me, & The Rusted Garden... Please Subscribe & The Rusted Garden Seed & Garden Shop: www.therustedgarden.com/

Planted out my broccoli and cabbage 2 weeks ago. I'm in N.Y 60 miles North of the City. Gonna get in the lower 20s Wednesday night but the wind is gonna make it feel like the teens. Covered the plants over with clear plastic containers and cloche that I bought at the dollar tree two years ago.

Finally ready to pull the trigger on one of these (and I will be using your code). Just one question, does the color of the tower fade? I am trying to decide what color to get. Thanks! You're my favorite youtube channel gardener.
Very appreciated. Thanks! Not really I have had some for 9 years outside 24/7. No significant change. And they havent cracked. The Rusted Garden Red are like 5. years old and show no color change.
Happy you brought up the arctic air blowing in and staying for a bit. I’m in MA (20 degrees tomorrow night and 30’s until next week) and I’m stalling on setting up my Greenstalk. I have the frost cover but after allll this work & attention growing these dang seeds, I’m like a nervous plant mom. Should I just go for it? Don’t know if my lettuce can go another week without up-potting 😕
If you can wait, just wait. If you have the plants outside during the day, growth will slow so I would wait. Thanks! Over 1500 gardening videos on my YT channel. Here is how you can support me, & The Rusted Garden... Please Subscribe & The Rusted Garden Seed & Garden Shop: www.therustedgarden.com/

I understand! My success has been haphazard. I’ve done very well with the greens (lettuce & spinach) at the start of each season. I don’t think I’ve understood how much water is actually needed in this system. I’ve not fertilized either…so duh, pointing finger of blame at myself. I planted strawberries last spring and enjoyed having those berries over a long season. Then….wow….they made it thru the winter. I followed Gary’s advice with compost renewal and fertilizer this spring. Everything is gorgeous & berries are on their way! Good luck to you this season 👍🏻
I water a lot directly into the pockets when the plants are large and summer comes. Use water soluble every 2 weeks too when plants are big. It should help.
Luckily this gets a full rotation of sun though north gets less. But you can buy spinner bases for them and give the tower a slight turn now and then. Thanks! Over 1500 gardening videos on my YT channel. Here is how you can support me, & The Rusted Garden... Please Subscribe & The Rusted Garden Seed & Garden Shop: www.therustedgarden.com/
Good question! I’ve got two towers and I purchased the wheeled bases. I turn them a bit every couple of days. Another nice feature on the wheels is that I can move the towers into a shadier portion of my deck as the blazing sun of NC hits those cool weather plants in summer. Note the wheels are good quality and easily handle rolling over deck boards….yes, easily. Also, they lock 👍🏻

Thanks for all your knowledge I'm learning alot since I found your channel! My question is, what do you do with all the extra leafy greens you can't eat? I can't imagine you consume every bit each season. Do you just give the extra away or how would you preserve the lettuces and greens?
I do give a lot away. Some are for teaching so, I do end up with more. Thanks! Over 1500 gardening videos on my YT channel. Here is how you can support me, & The Rusted Garden... Please Subscribe & The Rusted Garden Seed & Garden Shop: www.therustedgarden.com/

Does your "Rusted Garden" color green stalk get warmer in the summer heat because of color compared to your other lighter color towers?
I dont think so. I never really checked but have noticed issues,
What temperature is safe to do this? Our temperature is still 30F at night, 50-60f during the day.
