- Do you always feel like you run out of time to pray? Do you spend lots of time in the car, maybe shuttling kids to school or commuting to work?
Well, today, Kendra Tierney would like to encourage you to take advantage of that car time with these 5 prayers you can say whenever you hit the road.
Kendra is a "mother of many" living just outside of Los Angeles, CA. She started Catholic All Year as a way to share the practice of celebrating the liturgical year in the home and getting to know the saints and seasons of the Church calendar through food, prayer, and conversation.
If you’d like her guide to liturgical living, it’s available in book form in The Catholic All Year Compendium: Liturgical Living for Real Life and The Catholic All Year Prayer Companion: The Liturgical Year in Practice, both of which you can find at www.CatholicAllYear.com

O Angel of God my Guardian be
In all my journeys come with me
Whether I travel by air, road or rail
Be with me blessed Raphael.
3:49 "Jesus is really in there" 1 Cor. 6: 19
It's a pleasure to see you americans being Catholic 🙏🔥🇵🇷
Puerto Rico is part of the United States.
Is this supposed to be some sort of rage bait and a back-handed complement
@@thomasfleming8169Why would be it be that? USA is a largely protestant country, so it's nice to see content like this. I don't think there is any malice in the original comment.
Puerto Rico is a part of the US. They are full citizens. People in the states have been catholic. Including large groups like Irish, Italian, Polish, etc.
US has a ton of devout pockets! I’m from St. Louis. It’s been nicknamed “Rome of the West.” Our Catholic community is awesome!
Pur family is crazy and struggling, but we do do most all of these ... Maybe there is still hope!
You should cross yourself for any church. “Where 2 or more gather in my name”.
No, Protestant churches don’t have the true presence of Christ in the blessed sacrament. By their own definition, their “lords supper” ceremonies are just symbolic.
I loved this. I live on a farm in South Australia. I say two rosaries on the way to town and two on the way home. Turning my car trips into prayer time has been such a big change that has helped me. I am also a window as you are Kendra.
To review the details:
0:33 Time of day
1:47 Feast day
2:22 Rosary
3:11 Locations
4:16 Opportunity
There are tons of times I just feel like I am failing, this video reminds me how much I do succeed! Thank you
So delightful! I did many of these things when my children were growing up. I especially love making up a funny story about why the person is driving recklessly. I usually say they are having diarrhea.
Maria and I pray the rosary in the car. Probably 2-3 times daily as we drive.
Thank you I pray every day and this gave me some new opportunities to pray when I never thought of it
When I start driving I say The Guardian Angel pray many times as I drive. Then I pray to The Holy Spirit, as many times as needed and the Hail Mary.🙏 They protect me throughout my journey💕🙏💕
I'm very glad to hear someone else does these things too. On days that I end up taking nieces and nephews to school they pretty much know we are going to say morning prayers and I'm likely to be saying a Chaplet if I am the one picking them up.
Always say a prayer for the Holy Souls when getting into the car for their protection during the journey.
Yes! Love Catholic all year.. it was too late for me my kids are grown, but you have so many great ideas.. so great to hear you again! ❤
I'm liking the idea of liturgical driving! I do say the Rosary in tbe car and I'm working on being more charitable towards the crazy drivers that cross my path!
I used my commute to work for prayer for years. I started doing this at a time when things at work weren’t going well. It really helped me a lot. Many great ideas presented here, especially if you’re raising children!
I understand that people have busy lives, however i believe its very sad when we can't spare 20mins for quite prayer. The holy rosary especially is supposed to be a mediative prayer. If you have to pray it in the car or commuting, I would suggest a Scriptural audio version. I actually listen to the scriptural audio version when I pray at home on my own.
What a phenomenal idea. Thank you tremendously for your list. Even with no children in the vehicle, we should be doing these in a safe manner to prevent an accident. You are such a blessing, thank you. 🙏🏻✝️
Beautiful 💕
Before getting in the car or catching a bus, I always ask our Lady of the highway, St Raphael, St Christopher and my Guardian Angel for protection and a safe journey.
Love this
Thank you. This was a valuable video.
I have done this for many years but not daily I must confess. I also pray the Eternal Rest prayer at highway/street markers that mark an accident where someone died. These are great ideas and reminders. Thank you
Thank you! This is truly awesome ❤
I love this
Thank you for a great idea. I will start tomorrow
I'll add the Precious Blood Rosary and Litany to the prayers I saw in the car along with the Auxilium Christianorum exorcism prayers. It's on UA-cam so I downloaded it to mp4 and placed it on a pen drive and play it while driving. It's so meaningful to pray before going to work daily just by driving my car!
Thank you for your great ideas and inspiration. May God bless you and your family.
Beautiful!! Thank you for the suggestions I will apply this in my daily family life. What a wonderful way to involve the littles
Amazing, thank you ma'am Tierney.
God bless you.
We do the same when we pass Catholic Churches, we are starting to do the cementery one AND we do stop whatever and offer prayers when an ambulance in emergency is passing by. I so natural now, I bet when they have families it will be natural/instinctic too.
I keep a set of Rosary beads in my car. I pray the Rosary while I drive.
I'm curious as to how you do that?
@@Psalm_xxiii I also pray the rosary while I drive usually - Only when I know where I'm going and traffic is good (like on the way to work in the morning the drive is pretty easy for me).
In one hand I count the rosary beads and in the other hand I steer lol. Sometimes I just count in my head and don't hold a rosary in my hand.
@@MrSereeus
Meditating on the mysteries is essential to praying the holy rosary. In my humble opinion I don't believe that can be done effectively while driving. I would recommend downloading an audio scriptural version for driving, at least then you can hear the related scripture as you pray along. This method makes using the beads unnecessary and safer as you drive. I occasionally use this method at home as well as it helps with meditation. 🙏🕊️
@@Psalm_xxiii sure but it’s still better than not praying the rosary at all. To be honest, for some reason I’m able to focus better on the rosary while I’m driving. 😅
@@MrSereeus
@MrSereeus
Actually it's not. Honestly, and I'm not judging here, just being honest, I hope you take my comment charitably. I find it sad that we can't find 20mins in our day to pray without distractions.
St Pope Paul VI, wrote a whole document on why, and how, the holy rosary is to be prayed. Here is the most relevant from that document -
paragraph 47.
There has also been felt with greater urgency the need to point out once more the importance of a further essential element in the Rosary, in addition to the value of the elements of praise and petition, namely the element of contemplation. Without this the Rosary is a body without a soul, and its recitation is in danger of becoming a mechanical repetition of formulas and of going counter to the warning of Christ: "And in praying do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their many words" (Mt. 6:7). By its nature the recitation of the Rosary calls for a quiet rhythm and a lingering pace, helping the individual to meditate on the mysteries of the Lord's life as seen through the eyes of her who was closest to the Lord. In this way the unfathomable riches of these mysteries are unfolded.

Peace 🙏🕊️
This is so insightful ❤❤❤❤
Very good ideas, thank you!
Hi and thank you so much for your list! I love these sorts of videos as they are so helpful and reminding us of the kinds of praise we should be saying every day. I personally have a vision impairment so don’t drive a car however I bought myself a one decade rosary and hold that in one hand and pray the rosary while I’m walking with my guide dog. Keep up the great work and God bless.❤
Wonderful ideas! Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great video. Thanks. I pray a rosary and say a daily Mass driving to work.
I got a copy of your book.
Very helpful video. Thank you.
Thank you for these wonderful ideas🙏😍
Thank you, great ideas!

GOD BLES YOU FOR THESE PRAYERS!!
God Bless you ❤🙏
Interesting thanks

#5 accidentally got numbered 4 again and I had to re-scrub through this thinking "how'd I miss the last one?" 😅 Great ideas!
0:36 - time of day prayers

I simply put on my Latin Rosary CD & BOOM 💥💘💘💘
My angelus alarm is set for 6 - 12- 6.
Eccemenical communities (]Christian "churches") pray an Our Father

Praying not saying!
3:43 *sigh*
It’s not that I can’t find the time to pray, it’s more that I can’t find the desire to pray. It also doesn’t help that nobody is listening when I do pray, so I don’t see the point in praying. It makes no sense to pray when said prayer will just be ignored.
Prayers are intended to be our communication with God. When we pray it's not because we're pleasing the people around us it's because we're pleasing him. If you feel that you lack the desire to pray then start asking God to give you that desire and he will comply. 🙏🏽😊
@@JenLopez26 what would you say if I told you that I’ve tried that only to have that request ignored?
@@JenLopez26 I don’t see the point in continually asking God for something that He has no intention of giving me.
Sometimes what we want is not the will of God. We have to be obedient to what he wants for us. We have to follow an obedient heart like Job did in the Bible. Things were great for him and then things went horribly bad for him but he never lost faith. God created us to be faithful creatures to him. Just like Jesus he was brought into this world to eventually suffer death that he didn't deserve but he did it for us and therefore we in turn should expect to do the same for him. 🙏🏽😌💕
@@JenLopez26 are you saying that it’s not in God’s will for me to have the desire to pray? Because that flies directly in the face of your first response to my comment. Is my having the desire to pray in God’s will or isn’t it? Make up your mind, which one is it?
Please. If you are going to "say" the rosary, don't bother. You must always "pray" the rosary.
The only bad rosary is the one that is not done at all. Do the best you can and strive for more.
I have a t-shirt that says pray the rosary not say
I don't understand how people are able to meditate on the mysteries and drive at the same time. Maybe it is just a skull that I lack
Yes, meet people where they are at. If a busy mom of 5 only has time to focus and pray (say) the rosary in the car Mother Mary accepts and loves it. My early Mother wouldn’t mind if I called her from my car my heavenly mother would love to hear from me as well.
Agreed! The holy rosary is a meditative PRAYER, prayers are prayed not said. If you can't meditate, then at least listen and pray along to a scriptural audio version.
Did she actually give birth to her ten kids or are some adopted? She's very tiny.
That's a strange question/ comment. If there's a deeper question, state it, otherwise, judge not.
@@jimbobakabrutus1230 Nothing strange about it. It's a legit question. 5 other people gave a thumbs up to my question. I think you protest too much, Brutus. Seems like you're the judgy one.
She birthed them.
So just ask
@@den.utarbaev Are you Russian bot or something? I did ask. It's weird that you want to comment like this.
If we were best friends and I wronged you and to show you how sorry I was I read an apology someone else wrote. How would you feel? I believe in praying from the heart, not the page.
So you don’t pray the our father??
@@RinaRomo The Our Father I do as it is Biblical. It's also a practical lesson on how to go about your day\life. The rosary I do not. I believe Mary is special but should not be worshipped. And saying other people's words I find meaningless especially if the goal is a personal relationship with God. But I am not saying anyone is wrong. The whole there is only one set of rules to God I find silly. Sure "the gate is narrow" but I believe there to be more than 1 path to the gate.
@@DonaldDeCicco but wouldn’t saying the our father negate what you’re saying because the our father is in the Bible so you are praying someone else’s words, even if they were given to us by God, they’re not your own. Hail full of grace the lord is with thee is what the Angel Gabriel said to Mary at the annunciation. “Blessed are thou among women” is also in the Bible. We do not worship Mary, she is an intercesor, same way as she interceded at the wedding in Cana, she brings our petitions to Jesus and she tells us to “do whatever He tells you” just like she told the servers at the wedding. We venerate her, cause she is the mother of God. We are told to honor your mother and father so we honor Mary as the mother of our Creator.
❤❤❤
If someone else said it better, yes I would incorporate their words into my conversation, be it with the LORD God or someone right in front of me. Ever played a song for someone or quoted from a book, poem, or play to get your meaning across because you lacked a way to say it better? Maybe it’s only me that words fail? A quote or song might not be all I convey, but carefully selected words be they mine or someone else’s can still come from the heart.
Pray to save ourselves from the wrath of a supposedly all-loving god.
Thank you for these ideas, I really like your videos ❤ I’m newly back to the Catholic Church so I’m not familiar with half the prayers you mentioned, but it’s a great starting off point!
