Yeah it would have but when writers do this they want to give the new characters identity from the originals to show you how different there journey will be
I was sceptical of the new Turtles at first, but I have to say I really warmed to them and their dynamics and I'm excited to see what adventures they get up to next!
I Love How they’re similar to The old Gen but also have differences to make The new turtles themselves rather being just replacements. Like them having two female turtles, and different turtle species
The last ronin stories are the best. I’m hoping to see more back stories. Continue those flashback stories where splinter and the turtles were taking down the foot and shredder. That would be nice to see. Loving this ronin universe. Hope to see it in animation ones day.
Mikey can not catch a break ... This is something that took me years to piece together. Mikey is a MAD combat genius. When Splinter gave the turtles their weapons, he gave them weapons that contradicted their personalities. Leo got the most straight forward weapon, yet he is also the one that will look for a peaceful solution. Raph got a defensive weapon, yet he is also the most aggressive one. Don got a simple weapon, yet he is the one who is the most tech savvy. Mikey got a hand-eye coordination tool, that he somehow made work as a weapon (Nunchucks are not weapons they are hand-eye coordination tools, you are more likely to hurt yourself than your opponent with them. Tonfa are a much better weapon, and Mikey uses them. Even a stick is a better weapon over the nunchucks.) That leads into why I think killing Mikey was a mistake from a story prospective. From the snip's we see, Kasey and April were treating the turtles as weapons and not individuals. Mikey would have seen that and treated them as individuals first. Mikey with his surprisingly good adaptability would have had the new turtles be their own individuals and at the same time enable them to work together. They would not be the TMNT Variant B, but a new generation. New generations are built on the foundation of previous generations. These turtles don't have the individuality of the previous turtles. They look different and have different weapons but they don't have that deep individuality that the previous 4 had. Some teaching from Mikey could have helped relieve that.

I honestly would love to see a TV show featuring these new turtles. Yeah sure, the tv show would receive a TV-MA rating (or of similar equivalence in other countries), but I’m starting to get used to these new turtles.
Man, I love me some Old Man Mikey, or, rather, Old Turtle Mikey. Although, it's tough to see him hopeless and dour, though. Mikey lost his groove, but he finds it again.
I would love to see a full R-Rated tv show/or movie series on the Last Ronin, including flashback parts of when the Turtles were young, but more a darker tone, more like the first movie of 1990. That would be awesome to see. Then ending the tv show/movies with the last page of the Last Ronin with the new turtles.

Forgive me, but this just doesn’t sit right with me. I am a huge Ninja Turtle fan, I’ve been one of the since I was a child. But, it’s clear to me that I see an agenda being pushed. It would’ve been so great to see Michelangelo in his final & most strongest mutated form kickin a**, and not only as The Last Ronin, but as the rank of MASTER MICHELANGELO carrying on the legacy & flagship of the Hamato Clan. But more important, it would’ve been great to see Mikey as a FATHER training & raising the new turtles as his father Master Splinter did for him, and his brothers.

I´m a little bit confuse about the turtles eyes.. in some drawings they got white eyes, in others the whole eyeball is there... so even when they tell you Mikey got blind temporally, when his got his sight back, his eyes are completely withe still.
I *LOVED* the parts of the story with Michaelangelo and wish the _entire story_ was his. I'll freely admit to not being a fan of the new turtles. I have nothing against them _personally;_ I just dislike the idea of April and C.M. mutating 4 innocent new turtles and dooming them to this life of service and loneliness. The Turtles weren't exactly fans of the fact that they were the only ones of their kind. In the original Mirage comics they also seemed to resent the fact that Splinter raised and trained them with the sole purpose of fighting HIS war of revenge. It just seems selfish of them (particularly April who actually KNEW the Turtles, versus C.M who only heard of them through stories and only BRIEFLY knew Michaelangelo) to create these new turtles _just_ for nostalgia's sake. Them being turtles isn't necessary to protect the city. With that said, I REALLY didn't like some of the art in this book. _Particularly_ the way Michaelangelo was drawn in the last portion. His face was extremely narrow and he didn't look like himself _at all._ The artist drew his facial shape and features very humanlike and he did not even resemble himself and just looked very alien-like. (For the record I avoided calling Michaelangelo "Mikey" as he didn't strike me as "Mikey" in this more serious story.) Thank you so much for covering this story! I loved the Idea of The first Book of The Last Ronin has a Frank Miller Feel to it like Batman when it became dark however the Lost Years is a hard NO for me. I Prefer the Original Four Brothers Leo,Don,Mike,And Raph adding a new set of Turtles was a miss for me but its a fun nod for a future generation it would've been better if they made a new set of Four Brothers named after the Originals by adding Junior too it, plus I wouldn't have made them different types of Turtles ijs.
That second series was underwhelming. Not horrible but didn't have any excitement for me. Idk if I'll collect the new series but I'll look at the first issue

The biggest mistake of the last Ronin was Michelangelo dying. Him being a Sensei to these four turtles would have been epic.
