Your Canadian accent did indeed sound American, but flawlessly so, very passable if you came up to me as a stranger and started talking in that accent, never would guess you really had a British accent 10/10
@@nononsensegindrinking5152 only nit picky but Americans and canadians do not pronounce the "h" in words like herb. Also, your A, in things like "base" or "dagger" are pronounced slightly different from how you did, like "bay-s" or "day-gir".
Hi Bobby, thanks for the reply on the Bombay Sapphire, have just invested in a bottle of Empress (bit pricey at £32), but i had checked out reviews before yours, am fascinated by it's colour changing quality's and thankfully your trusted taste review has just about confirmed my investment. Cheers!
Have my bottle on order (I live in a small town in Ontario and the liquor stores aren't well stocked, especially since Covid!) Thanks for another great review! Looking forward to many more, cheers :D
After multiple attempts and multiple shipments at my local ABC Store I finally obtained a bottle is always sold out the minute it gets put on the shelves and it is fantastic one of the best gin I've ever tasted and in my personal opinion it needs nothing but ice it needs no mixer it is insanely good if you can find it I highly recommend you pick it up
recipe for empress 1908: -2 oz empress gin -2 oz ginger beer - 1 oz home made simple syrup (the best part) -juice from one whole lemon 🍋 simple syrup directions: boil 1 cup of water, take pot off heat and add 1 cup honey, chopped up pear pieces from 1 whole pear, and 1 sprig of Rosemary, cover and let steep for 1 hour! Throw it all together on ice, add a spring of rosemary and voila! ☺️
A few years late here. I love this gin and I live in Vancouver, not too far from where it’s made. I would love to try the Australian Ink Gin and compare it. ❤ And, I thought you did a perfect Canadian accent. You nailed the nuances 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
In Canadian English, we have what is known as the "Canadian raising" it sounds similar to extremely raised Scottish vowels (that's where the "aboot" stereotype comes from) the ou in about, house, etc... are between the standard British English ou/ow and Scots oo. (perhaps like the ou in the Scots word doun?)
Empress is a staple in my home...so is Ungava....you need to try that one as well. I may also be a year late on that....and its about $55 for the Empress and about $39 for the Ungava...both are delicious.
If youre on a Canadian kick try Violette gin from Quebec, if you can find it. Huge very floral taste not too bad a price. Great with elderflower fever tree
Thanks, Bobby! I've been reluctant to try this gin because like you, I'm not a fan of violet flavored gins. Now, I'll take the plunge and open up my wallet to try this little beauty. It sounds great! By the way, I don't know if it's available in the UK, but if you can get your hands on a bottle of Farmer's Gin from Minnesota, it's absolutely spectacular!
Bobby, there’s another Gin on Vancouver Island that puts this Gin to shame. Sheringham’s makes some of the best Gin in the world. You should try their London Dry and West Cost Gin ... they are absolutely delicious!
In the past I used to switch between Vodka and Gin. Since Covid Costco became a main destination to do my shopping. This is where I discovered Empress 1908 gin. Bonus is knowing I am supporting a Canadian. I started to think about the other gins I have bought, Tanqueray, and Bombay Sappire. I have also bought Beefeater, Gordon’s and Boodles, the more common and readily available gins. And Tanqueray 10 a long time ago. After finding Empress and absolutely loving it so much more than any of the other gins, I started to wonder why? The basic answer makes sense, juniper is the only common ingredient then infused with the unique ingredients that makes each gin unique. I have just started to take a much better look at the gins on the shelf at the liquor store. I would like to hear your comments on Mediterranean Ginfirex premium citric gin. Thank you for your seemingly ordinary man videos on yours and mine favorite drink. Looking forward to your comments on my new find.
Hey, Bobby! A friend of mine down in Puerto Rico has access to Wint & Lila, a Spanish gin. I don't have access to it, so perhaps you can find it in the UK. Of course, I'll have to trust your review and taste notes to try to figure it out!
Thanks for another enjoyable, informative, and entertaining review. Glad you enjoyed it eh? Next we need to have you try a clear coloured Canadian Gin! Next up for me will be one of the Dillon's gins and perhaps Steinhart
Damn Bobby every time I find a gin that I want to recommend to you I do a search and you have already tried it or I have no way to get it to you. Luckily this one is available to me. Looking forward to trying. Thanks from Canada
This gin is indeed lovely to look at but reminds me of Avation in the sense that it is another anti-juniper gin. Didn't find it too enjoyable on the palate
Hello my friend, so looking at the video I just want to say that I totally hate Gin I think it's disgusting but looking at you serve this wonderful gin I think I'm going to go ahead on and purchase me a bottle of this beautiful sight .wonderful video

If you like ice in your gin/tonic, you can have ice cubes out of butterfly pea powder drink. That'll turn your regular gin into purplish.
recipe for empress 1908:
-2 oz empress gin
-2 oz ginger beer
- 1 oz home made simple syrup (the best part)
-juice from one whole lemon 🍋

boil 1 cup of water, take pot off heat and add 1 cup honey, chopped up pear pieces from 1 whole pear, and 1 sprig of Rosemary, cover and let steep for 1 hour!
