Pioneer DJ HDJ-CUE1 Review - Beginner Headphones You Can PIMP!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- At just £59/$69/€69, Pioneer DJ's new HDJ-CUE1 headphones are the best value headphones the company has ever released - but add in the £27/$30/€30 HC-CP08-V replacement cable and ear pads, and you can have them in red, yellow, green, blue or pink.
But are they, y'know, actually any good for DJing? Will they stand up to what DJs put headphones through? And how do they sound? We reveal all in this full review.

I love them... I have a headphone addiction and can never have enough... And I've been wanting black and pink headphones without having to go through the trouble of replacing everything on my HD-25's... These seem to fit the bill... Thanks again Phil
You’re welcome!
Something’s not quite right with the mic, but it’s a great review! Thanks 👍
Yeah mic failed and had to default to the camera mic :)
I have the PioneerDJ HDJ-X10. Recently, I picked up the [discontinued] PioneerDJ DJE-2000 In-Ear headphones and I love them~
Cool, good work!
I use v-moda but I am tempted by these! Love the coloured ear pads 💕
Would be great for a spare :)
Thank you for the review. I just decided, to replace my really cheap and bad headphone, and the HDJ-CUE1 looks a good choice, for hobby djing and recording mixes to publish online.
Agreed they are
I'll be the first to put the coloured ear pad on only one side...to instantaneously know which is R or L. Plus it'll look even more unique 😜
Sorry we already did this on our Tuesday Tips Live this week lol ;)
Digital DJ Tips , great minds。。。😁
😄
OMG THANK YOU
I heard these headphones are perfect for mixing D&B on balconies.😋
Perhaps we'll test that soon ;)
I have a pair of Audio Technica M50x that I love.
Yeah, they are good headphones.
Now I'm debating between these and the next model-up as you mention. I had 2 pairs of Numark redwaves before which both broke, so I def want something more durable.
We love these things, especially for the price!
Great review as always
Thanks Vernon!
I'm still using a 20 year old pair of Technics RP DJ-1210E and they still sound unreal. You can pick those up these days for around £85 and would challenge anyone to find a better sounding/just as durable pair of headphones for that price
Nice one JB
Double that and you're nearer the mark. 85 quid, my hole
Looks great may pick up a pair
Nice one :)
valid points. liked and subscribed.
Thanks!
Phil is my guy, he is my light house
Thanks T
revor 😀
Do you talk about sound impressions? I can't find a word?
Though i have pro pioneer head phones and beats pro, this review is well done and new gear looks great for beginners or as a spare. Than you
You’re welcome John.
Many centuries ago when I picked up my second Technics SL1200 in the local Auchan supermarket, I got my first pair of headphones, the Sony MDR-V500. They realy did their job but the plastic swivel mechanism broke too soon. How are these ones made? Will they survive the everyday dj life (in case that will ever come back)? BTW This looks like already the second breadcrum towards a future big product launch by Pioneer (the first was their film from a month ago). Is the theme this time custom colors? It would indeed be a good idea to have a controller/player straight in the right color rather than having to wait years for a limited white or gold edition. Or is the theme affordability? Anyhow it looks like a DJ is at the knobs of the launch strategy. Teasing your track ahead can indeed work to get the track accepted by your audience. Keep up the good work! Great channel.
My MDR-700s (about 5 pairs of them) all suffered the same fate. No way of telling how long these will last, although they seem sturdy enough.
Looks great and it's cheap but still a good quality!! My numark headphones has seen better days and sadly is not used any more...... So I switched over to my Volkano X Active noise cancelling headphones and I must be honest it work great actually better-than-expected.
Awesome, these are definitely worth a look :)
Hey Phil, one of your earlier students here. Do you have a link for that laptop stand you have there on the screen?
Sure, it's this one: geni.us/Hm2vgMc
Thanks, Phil for the reply. Now it's time to use everything you and Steve, and the rest of the team has taught me on this new XDJ-XZ.
Awesome, have fun !
I bought my pioneer cue 1 headphone in 2021 Feb and now it's 2024 July One side of the earpiece is not working Since it's a budgeted headphone i deeply recommend hd 25 plus
We've had ours for a LONG time now and still going strong
Great review!
Thanks Barry
I've just bought a pair 😁
Awesome, enjoy!
Whats your experience?
Super cool
Agreed!
Is there any DJs here who have used it in a big club & pair it with big turntable? Does it sound fine?
thanks for compare to x5. useful information
You’re welcome
Where did you buy the earoads and cable from?? Where do I buy them? Details please?? Thanks
We got them direct from Pioneer but if you search for the accessory packs for the cue headphones on google they should pop up :)
HDJ-CUE1 vs hdj X5? i was wondering if cue1 have enough isolation for club?
Yes they do
Can I use these headphones for listening music?
Yes, but they may get a little uncomfortable after a while as they are quite a "secure" fit (which is required for DJing). I believe they have a Bluetooth version too.
I use a three year old beats mixer headphones !
Still working for you?
Is the cue1's sound quality close to the HDJ X7 or X10?
Not far off it is plenty good enough for DJing
@@digitaldjtips Thanks for answering. Success for your channel!
Hey! Can I use that different colors earpads and cable for HDJ 500? Please respond.
I don't think so, they are made for the CUE1.
does cue1 pad & cable fits also in hdj x5 or x7? thanks
No idea sorry!
Would you choose these cue 1 over the v-moda xs?
Not reviewed any V-Moda headphones for a long time, so couldn't say I'm afraid Steven.
I wear a glasses and a lot of headphones which I have on my head push my glasses beyond my ear into my head
I would like to ask, if this headphones push you into head, if you wear them for a long time.
I would say all headphones would if you wore them for long enough.
@@digitaldjtips Yeah definitely, but these ones are very uncomfortable with glasses?
Phil is really liking these so I'd guess they're fine (as you've noticed he wears specs as well!) :)
@@digitaldjtips Of course, thats why I asked. Thank you very much and Merry Christmas
Does one plug end have 3.55 mm for my phone?
Yes, it has 1/8" and 1/4" and a supplied adaptor.
@@digitaldjtips Thank you so very very much!!!!
Pink’s fckn dope bro
Yeah kinda cool
do these work with smartphones/ps4 consoles ?
Yeah definitely, they're just headphones at the end of the day!
@@digitaldjtips what about the other ones from pioneer ? Like the HDJ-X5-S ? Would i be able to.use them for pc/smartphone/ps4 ? I.m not a dj i just saw many good reviews for these ones so i was wondering would they fit the purpose ?
I wouldn't buy DJing headphones for anything other than DJing really, there's better out there for less money but again yes, they're just headphones as long as you have the right adapter they'll work
These or beats solo
These are better value
Save the money and get a pair of hd25!
Save even more and grab both, these as a back up :)
Pioneer, why u guys copying senheisser? I mean, little lame.
