That is the reason why I admire Korean actors who did not undergo any plastic surgery and are bold enough to accept their true self, like Kim Go Eun. I greatly admire her character as a person.
Full disclosure: I’m a cosmetic and surgical dermatologist, so my career obviously impacts my POV. As for as plastic surgery and noninvasive procedures go, there is a huge difference between doing these to change your looks to fit a trend or standard as opposed to enhancing your natural features to be more confident or refine your natural beauty without trying to fit some predetermined mold. Even for Kim Go Eun, she has had a few minor tweaks to her looks after landing roles that eventually caused her popularity to start skyrocketing. She didn’t do anything that changed her natural beauty, it was just refined, which given her career isn’t surprising. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. She is still defying the standard of beauty and confidently embodying her own personal features. Having those few tweaks doesn’t lessen the impact she has in defying the normal standard. She is still identifiably herself, refinements or not.
Yess and everytime i watch her, she’s like glowing and has that powerful aura. She just give me those fresh, inspiring thing. That’s why I like her not just because of her natural beauty but also because of her talent.
I remember how Eugene from Try Guys spoke about his first time in Korea and his relatives wasted no time telling him what he could have "changed" with surgery. It's sad because he's always considered the "attractive" in the US.
10:25 i agree Koreans are becoming more open minded. I suddenly remember Hwasa of Mamamoo she is famous in Korea also. she said if she doesnt fit in the standard beauty she is creating a new stadard/ breaking the stereotype..As long as you embrace and love yourself with confidence thats what really matters.
but still a lot of koreans bashing her for her skin tone. i admire hwasa for what she thinks whats look good for her, not what others would think about her.
yeah and it's so nice seeing that nowadays people are already loving her because of her looks, talent and personality. she became an inspiration to everyone.
The most underrated aspect of beauty is scent. Even if you are 'ugly', no one can resist pheromones that make others feel 'attracted' because of associated chemical responses in the brain.
I still find Sandara Park as one of the prettiest faces in SK, alongside with Song Hye Kyo. Their beauty are still comparable to beauty standards in today's generation.
The problem with preoccupation of societal beauty standards is the loss of appreciation for how stunning diversity can be. The constant striving to have the same features will inevitably result in homogenous looks throughout society. Uniqueness should be celebrated, because sameness is bland. Often it's the flaws that make one unique & memorable.
True. Just my opinion but the Korean shows drama and movies my sister and nieces watch they look a lot a like to me that my my sister and nieces can’t believe there are times I can’t tell them apart. I am Filipino and the diversity in Filipino looks ( although a product of intermarriage and occupation) I still can’t believe it sometimes.
Yeah, it's funny how these "flaws" can become beauty standards themselves. Ancient chinese makeup has a lot of facial markings that mimic scars and skin imperfections because a favoured/beautiful woman had it. Or take Marilyn Monroe in western media, the spot over her lip is iconic (where I live this type of spot is literally called a 'beauty spot').
Being Korean myself, I also went through self identity issues growing up and wanting to look more western because that was what was more worldly accepted as far was what was considered to be beautiful. Korea needs to be just more into embracing individual beauty instead of being so hyper critical and focused on perfection or a next beauty trend. I have gotten nothing done, even though I wanted to growing up. I’m actually happy I decided not to get any plastic surgery. It would be nice if Korea would start focusing on how to enhance your own beauty instead of how and what we can do to look like everyone else. It’s nice to know there are other Korean women out there that have not decided to undergo surgery and is an advocate of natural beauty.
@Trinity M lol wow that’s funny. I also love my natural big lips, hour glass body, long blond naturally curly hair, and natural long eye lashes. I love how fine and nearly invisible all my body hair is and how soft and supple my skin always is. Hear how cringe I sound being all proud of what God gave me? Thank you Jesus. So glad I don’t need to do or add a single thing to myself to be lovely. Wow isn’t that great. Good for you girl.
Yep I don't think why people do plastic surgery. Why do we need to look like someone else.. Lord Krishna has made us like that. We don't need to change. Good decision girl.
"U believe"!?, jessica is beautifull and shes not have plastic surgeries done, so what u said dont make sense. And i knows 4 koryo saram(koreans who born another countries) and two of them have double lids just one have really big eyes
The most important for aesthetics is that the facial (and body) features are in harmony and all the features creating a pleasing look all together combined - no matter what those features are. You can be beautiful with monolids or double eyelids, a small nose or a tall nose, plump lips or small lips, etc... as long as it all goes together well.
That's me I get praised enough for my overall look and I never really thought about the individual facial structures before didn't even notice as long as it suits my face but after getting into kpop-----
I do genuinely believe that beauty standards are made by companies more so than a person. They make people addicted to buying products that achieve said beauty standard and target people who don’t have the money for plastic surgery by making them feel that they can get the “plastic surgery” look for cheaper
Each country has different beauty standards, if you're not beautiful here you maybe be beautiful there......always remember you don't have to reach those standards because those are just standards and you are more than that and thats whats makes you special✨✨✨
that’s what really made me realize that standards are just standards. I have fair skin, and in america, it’s not considered ugly but tan skin is the standard. in korea and some other asian cultures, fair skin is a standard
Jennie is so beautiful, but it can be argued that she doesn't fit some Korean beauty standards. Her beautiful nose is pretty small, and her gorgeous skin is pretty tanned.

When it comes to 'Beauty', your CHARM also plays a role for that, that vibes, how you carry yourself around people. I can't explain it but I'm so attracted to people who I literally sense their charm/charisma than those who already a pretty one or have a make up then have a cool dress.
I think this is what we also call "inner beauty". Inner beauty is your personality and is reflected on your appearance with your way of moving, your facial expressions, your vibes/energies and your confidence. This is what makes you authentic and attractive.
I personally find that accusing someone of plastic surgery is rude and none of any one's business except the person in question. But nonetheless, plastic surgery is a personal choice and we do not judge whether someone wants to change something about their body to feel better. :)
But then there's the question why do they feel they need to change thier body to feel better. Do they actually feel better? Is this a healthy standard to have that only rich people can reach?
@@russellward4624 i guess you could reason out that everyone of us has a different standard for beauty. especially to ourselves. for example, i have suffered cystic acne and i am currently saving for a procedure to help with clearing out the scars my acne left. some people would say its fine to just leave the scars as is. but i personally want it to clear out and i mean i could try and listen to everyone telling me to love my skin as is. but it will always be an insecurity for me. it is sad that cosmetic surgery is expensive. but it is not so much of a priority compared to surgeries that is needed to save lives. :)
Not gonna lie, women who fit those standards are so freaking gorgeous. No one can deny Irene beauty. But it isn't the only standard, there are different ways of being beautiful, for example I like the abg look too.
As a Kpop fan for around a decade, I totally agree that Korean beauty trends change a lot. Just a few years ago there was a trend about having "bunny" teeth and there's also about having a gummy smile , also there was the head shape trends which I find weird. Though I think the trends these days weren't as restricted than that to what it was years ago and varies more.
Love the topic. Glad that Moonbyul of Mamamoo was talked out of it of having a double eyelid surgery. And Hwasa creating her own beauty standard. Reasons why I love Mamamoo, they never listen to the pressure of so-called Korean beauty standards and they songs are self-empowering. only haters and insecure people likes to shout "Ugly" "fat".
@@Pj-mj7wi your comment is the perfect example of how harmful this light skin standard is, it literally blinds people by denying the fact there's darker skin tones in their societies and even celebrities. My co-worker here in Korea looks like she's only in her early 30s . Nagulat ako 48 na pala sya 😅 they really care about their skin + their beauty products helped them alot to look younger.

Thank you. This is the best explanation I’ve heard regarding Korean beauty standards and plastic surgery. I always feel like I’m on self defense mode as we tend to be viewed as being superficial or care too much about looks and appearance. Or whenever someone is attractive it’s believed it’s only because they have had plastic surgery.
I just noticed that the beauty standards in Korea are just too high that it's too much to handle for me because I am not in to be beautiful in the eyes of others, I just wanna be me hahaha. In my opinion on this video, just for me, I think self-acceptance and self-awareness is the key to not having insecurities. Because if you know to yourself that you don't have what others have, and accepted it I think, you could not be easily swayed or be affected by the social stereotypes. It is on the mindset of a person...being yourself, being as the real you, and the natural you are prettier than the beauty standard by the society. It is just like simplicity is beauty. Beauty comes from within Myra-e charot parang PH care lang ni ate Moy.
The older you get, the truer this is. Physical appearance is so much less important than connecting with someone on an intellectual and emotional level. And it is so true that confidence and self-love shine through more than physical beauty. Just don’t tell anyone I said this since I’m a cosmetic dermatologist lol… but that should give an idea as to just how important accepting, knowing, and loving yourself are compared to meeting societal beauty standards.
Beauty is both universal and subjective. It is universal in that it is based on symmetry in faces, bodies, even in nature like a flower. It is subjective in things like skin color, big or small eyes, matangos or pango, etc, cultural or personal preferences.
For someone who has a lot of insecurities, the latter part of this video makes me realize something and kinda gives me more self-confidence. Thank you for this video. 💕💕
Honestly for me guys I do find it hard to distinguish certain kpop group members from each other since almost all of them look the same. Especially if you're not into that certain group or if you're new to a certain group and trying to familiarize each members. But there are groups also who have distinguishable face from each other so it's easy to identify them in a group photo.
i'm american, and i know a lot of people from america assume that korea and plastic surgery go hand and hand, but it isnt right to assume that, koreans are so beautiful and they shouldnt have to undertake a surgery just to look 'beautiful' its heart breaking to know this. i really hope koreans can accept theirself for who they are and realize how amazing they are! 💞
I'm glad that you did a video like this. Because even to me, who doesn't even care about beauty standards was enlightened to what the society is ruling out wrong.
I agree to what Jessica said, that yes it's natural for us to seek aesthetics for ourselves, something that will give pleasure to our eyes and I can totally resonate with that. For instance,I am really a big fan of K-pop and I truly admire how beautiful they are in their own way physically. However, that doesn't mean I hate myself.Well in the retrospect,I used to dislike some of my features even up to this day but as I grew up,I realize i have my own distinct characteristics and features too and that is something that I must be proud of.So now,I am learning how to accept who I am,what I have and what my feautures are for they are beautiful in their own way.Such 'flaws' when it comes to concept of beauty isn't really a thing.DIVERSITY,UNIQUENESS---these are the words that encompasses BEAUTY.
I love Korea but when I watch videos like this, I feel so lucky to be born in my country, India where I am accepted and loved for my intelligence and confidence rather than the way I look. I would not have survived in Korea.

It is very understandable though about white skin, because Filipinos were colonized for so long by White People leaving an impression that they are the standard. That is why Filipinos were confused. But of course, more and more Filipinos started loving our 'healthy' skin. We have more melanin than those with fair skin because we are in a country where we need melanin to protect our skin from the sun.
I guess colonialism affects Us filipino/na, from spanish to american then japan, puro maputi. Its like becoz inapi tayo ng mga puting dayuhan. Para makawala sa pang aapi yung gusto ring pumuti.
iont think that's how it works. We don't have an actual standard, we are actually diverse when it comes to pagiging "maganda". Just look at Kathryn, Liza, Nadine and Kim chui as an example. Magkakamuka ba sila? nope. Pero we all call them pretty, sadyang may preferences lang tayo. Some find Liza the prettiest, But for me i find Nadine the prettiest. Kanya kanya lang ng preference.
Distinctive beauty is more important than just plain perfect. The reason why people like piccasso's art was because even though they are very complicated to understand, it's still got you curious and interested. Same goes with our looks, I'm not saying that it's bad to have an almost perfect appearance but sometimes when you realize that already it just becomes not so special anymore and being normal will become more appealing than being perfect.

hey Jess! I love your mind! I too have the same thoughts about Korea's Beauty Standards and I just love how you explained everything gradually for viewers to understand it easily. Respect!
i've been watching korean shows for years now, specifically variety shows. there were once that a host said that, "its too rare to see a natural beauty (korean beauty) nowadays".
I don't have a negative view of plastic surgery. I like that there are options. What I dislike about korea's beauty standards is how rigid and narrow that standard is. Although some things change about the beauty standard, some other things have remained rather consistent for a long time. Mainly the face shape and skin color, and big eyes, and a small nose, and thick hair. I dislike how prevalent plastic surgery is in the k-pop industry. Last year when I was browsing my fb feed I saw an ad that I thought was a plastic surgery ad at first glance, but then realized was a k-pop ad. I'm still considering going for a plastic surgery consultation. I've been thinking about it for years and have been saving money. My chin is crooked, my jaw is very square (and I've always preferred oval shaped faces), there's not much vertical space between my eyes and eyebrows which makes me look grumpy, and my brow bone is too prominent for my own taste. I'm 37 and anyone who has the audacity to try and talk me out of it can bugger off. I find it really condescending that people who aren't me and don't live in my body and don't have the same preferences as me think they know better about what's good for me.
Walang ginawang panget dito sa mundo lahat tayo ay may perpektong kaanyuan, because we are created by the image of God. Kung ano ang itsura natin dapat tayo ay magalak at makontento at magpasalamat sa Diyos.
Well, sorry to say hindi lahat religious kagaya niyo kaya hindi niyo dapat jinujudge ang mga taong nag paplastic surgery. That's what you believe in then, so be it. Respect na lang and understanding. Huwag nating ipilit yung paniniwala natin sa ibang tao. Or if you're against it, huwag na lang kayong makielam. Skl.
I am Korean, and it's just so frustrating and sad to see those types of comments where they'd think every south Korean has plastic surgery. I mean sure, if you say 'I had plastic surgery' people wouldn't say 'omg really? really? wowwww interestingg' and act as if it's such a big deal. Maybe it's not considered such a huge deal to have plastic surgery, but most people don't have plastic surgery. This is literally as dumb as thinking that every American owns a gun and used it before or something. Do they? No. NO ONE around me had plastic surgery and no one even considers having it, thinking every Korean has it is the stupidest thought ever, idols don't reflect Koreans, idols are idols.
Agree. I have a korean friend and he said it himself that plastic surgery is very expensive there (He's from seoul) so that's why only few of them can get it. Yeah it's common but it's too expensive for korean commoners.
The videos are an eye opener, it sees the world through the eyes of a korean or a foreigner living in the Philippines (both the good and bad) and the similarities and differences of their home culture. I guess, wanted more to see more videos that would educate me as a Filipino on how Koreans are in their home country and their culture (and basically this video nailed it in the head) other than the KPOP and major korean media.
I think, media has also a huge role in setting beauty standards. The ideals of beauty being portrayed in media platforms reinforce the idea that "thin and fair skin, etc. is beautiful."
Everyone is uniquely beautiful. We are made differently to each other to have our own identity, imagine if we all look the same? wouldnt that be so weird? What flawed is the perception of society with beauty, so next time someone called you Ugly, know that your not the problem, they are. Because everybody is beautiful
The real definition of Korean Beauty Standard is Girls Generation Yoona. She 100% perfectly fit their standard from face to body proportion to height. But what amazes me is after all these years, she still has this humble, friendly aura in her. No one in the industry has commented any bad traits or scenarios with her. They always praise her. I know Yoona is not perfect, no one is but being Nation's visual-center-face but still has that very good personality is really rare. No wonder she's popular with different ages and mother/grandma loves her.
I think the Pali_Pali Culture will not help Korea in the long run. It only focuses on being fast on a certain trend or culture in Korea but does not take to account what is happening in other countries.
Remember guys with or without surgery we are beautiful in our own special way, dont be so insecure about your body your beautiful just the way you are. Every one of us are unique in some kind of special way and remember to love your self.💜💜💜💜💜💜✨
"Korean Beauty Standards = Social Status" This is common here in PH. And also Filipino girls nowadays are trying and using skincare products from Korea.
Living in South Korea can be challenging, as it often feels like you have to compromise your own identity to conform to the unrealistic beauty standards that society imposes. While plastic surgery might seem like a quick fix, it doesn't address the underlying issues. Unfortunately, societal pressures and expectations can feel overwhelming, and it's disheartening to witness the extent to which they affect people.

Like what my professor said, culture changes constantly, and I think that applies to beauty standards too. But as we approach a more globalized world, we hope that these stereotypes in beauty change for the better of everyone, and that people would be more confident with their selves. 🙂 Great analysis by the way, keep it up! 😀
sadly, some knetz even call her ugly. her beauty is more appealing to us international fans, although some kfans find her pretty too. even jisoo who is their "visual" is considered second only to Irene's beauty. i was so shocked when i saw that article that kind of said "jisoo who is already a goddess is overshadowed by irene" (that was when they stood next to each other during red velvet's promotion and jisoo was one of the emcees.) i thought that article was too much, but apparently it's like almost everyone in south korea would just agree that irene is the top visual of them all. that's their culture, we can't do anything about it.

I remember having a Korean friend in school and she suddenly asked me "Did you have double eyelid surgery? Your eyes are so pretty!" and I was so shocked because outside of Korea, you don't just ask someone if they've had double eyelid surgery 😂 I told her I've never had plastic surgery and my eyelids are natural and she kept complimenting me. She also asked how tall I was and at the time, I was 167 cm and she kept complimenting me again, saying my height was considered "beautiful" and "tall" in Korea. What shocked me the most was when she took a few steps back and measured my head and kept counting 😂 and I asked her what she was doing and she kept saying "Your body proportion is kinda good! Your body is 7.5 times the size of your head, I like it!" and I was sooooo confused 😂😂😂 till I researched more about Korean culture and actually finally understood where they were coming from. I think I was just shocked because of the cultural difference and how direct she was, but it's great to know about other people's culture because I think it can be beautiful, too 💜 She taught me more about Korean culture and I taught her more about mine, too! 💜 Thank you for this video, Jessica! 💜
Decades ago, a Korean acquaintance of mine told me I have a small head. My initial reaction was wtf, is she calling me a pinhead? But then I came to realize it wasn't said derogatorily, she was paying me a complement, because it makes me look taller than I am.

I am not a Korean, I'm a pure Filipino. But I do have mono lid eyes, short eye lashes, and small eyes. I do have a Korean- Japanese feature. What can I do? I was born this way. All I have to do is to be grateful and thank God to have eyes that can see, a face and a body, for there are certain people who are not blessed with eyes, nose, and other parts of the body. We are all made unique. Why should we base our beauty to a certain standard? If some people don't like what we look like, it's alright, let them be, cause at the end of the day these all doesn't matter. What matter is the heart full of love, kindness, humbleness, sympathy and empathy towards humankind, animals, and nature. We may have different faces, but when we die we are all the same.
I think it is great if people take care of themselves, make sure they look beautiful, and are just generally pleasant to look at. It can be clothes, makeup, even a smile. That I believe is good in Korea, that people want to look good, but they shouldn't fall to the other side of being 'obsessed' with looking beautiful. There is a golden middle line, where we take care of ourselves, but don't worry about every single detail 24/7. We eat healthily, work out regularly, put on nice clothes, take care of ourselves. What I feel in the west is that this kind if 'standard' for looking decent is completely deteriorating. It is trendy to be healthy of course, but if someone comes to work in their pajamas it isn't a big deal. Like seriously, I see people wearing pajama like clothes, looking like they just escaped from somewhere. Certainly the right answer is somehwere between the too, and it will be a but different for everybody.
Great personality is the standard of being beautiful. The personal appearance is just a bonus. Jess you got those things and you should be proud of who you are and what you have😁😁😁

I feel bashing someone for plastic surgery is as bad as telling someone they are ugly.. There's so much that goes into shaping a person's mindset - culture, social conditioning, life experiences... If someone thinks they need to go through a plastic surgery to land a role or to get an opportunity to sing and perform (which is their passion), isn't it the society that is to be blamed? We always form opinions based on consequences that we see rather than looking at the root causes... Beauty standards will always be there, they have been there for centuries, changing and evolving with the place itself.. The best thing is to promote self love and self care.. And it's not easy.. There needs to be a certain acceptance from within, seeing value in yourself, seeing the value in life that's bigger than appearance.. Only with genuine acceptance and love for oneself can we make people feel beautiful irrespective of beauty standards.. Great video! ❤️
If i have enough money, i want to undergo plastic surgery, my appearance is the reason why I experience bullying and i want to boost my confidence. But thank you for this❤️
No, forget that shit. You don't need to nor should you ever have to change your appearance to please other people, especially people you're not ever going to meet or meet again. Just stay as yourself and accept yourself. Other people's opinions don't mean shit.

A weird experience. I do not know the meaning of monolid and double eyelid until recently because I have been watching kdrama, korean variety shows (really funny and entertaining to watch) and idols everyday. Then I checked myself in the mirror and said "Oh, okay, so this is what double eyelid means". In general, everything wee see on television affects the way of how our society thinks. Sad reality. But yes, change is the only constant thing in this world.
It’s sad, when the kids aren’t born beautiful as the surgically enhanced parent(s) because surgery only changes the outer appearance. I’ve read rumours online about men angry with the wives because the kids aren’t born beautiful.
I honestly don't think that plastic surgery is bad though. If it is unhealthy, then maybe it is. But why do we care if a person who's rarely seen as beautiful wants to be one, and finds plastic surgery her way to be beautiful? I'm like, so what guys? Why should we take their happiness away?
She is free to do what she wants. But she also needs to proclaim to the world that she had plastic surgery. If she keeps it a secret, she is lying to people. Her husband will marry her based on her "surgerized" appearance. Her employers, friends, and strangers will choose her and be kind to her based on her "surgerized" appearance. She is essentially lying to people, which is very selfish and bad.

Just know every American girl would think you’re prettier then them. So don’t change. I’m an American white girl. Trust me.
@Trinity M lol wow that’s funny. I also love my natural big lips, hour glass body, long blond naturally curly hair, and natural long eye lashes.
Yessss❤️✨
That's me

I do genuinely believe that beauty standards are made by companies more so than a person. When it comes to 'Beauty', your CHARM also plays a role for that, that vibes, how you carry yourself around people. I can't explain it but I'm so attracted to people who I literally sense their charm/charisma than those who already a pretty one or have a make up then have a cool dress.
Yup
I think this is what we also call "inner beauty". Inner beauty is your personality and is reflected on your appearance with your way of moving, your facial expressions, your vibes/energies and your confidence. This is what makes you authentic and attractive.
Olny some celebrity has inner charisma
Outgoing-ness and confidence. Very important.
How can someone gain charisma?

I personally find that accusing someone of plastic surgery is rude and none of any one's business except the person in question. But nonetheless, plastic surgery is a personal choice and we do not judge whether someone wants to change something about their body to feel better. :)
Exactly
But then there's the question why do they feel they need to change thier body to feel better. Do they actually feel better? Is this a healthy standard to have that only rich people can reach?
@@russellward4624 i guess you could reason out that everyone of us has a different standard for beauty. especially to ourselves. for example, i have suffered cystic acne and i am currently saving for a procedure to help with clearing out the scars my acne left. some people would say its fine to just leave the scars as is. but i personally want it to clear out and i mean i could try and listen to everyone telling me to love my skin as is. but it will always be an insecurity for me.

Beauty is subjective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Stay safe everyone.
Beauty is both universal and subjective. It is universal in that it is based on symmetry in faces, bodies, even in nature like a flower. It is subjective in things like skin color, big or small eyes, matangos or pango, etc, cultural or personal preferences.

Philippine beauty standards are also toxic. There are a lot of people see "white skin" as beauty. But now, it is also changing like being "morena".
Yup, unti unti na ring natatanggap ang morena skin and I love it
It is very understandable though about white skin, because Filipinos were colonized for so long by White People leaving an impression that they are the standard.
Kanya kanya lang ng preference.
parang baliktad. moreno/morena beauty are rampant before. filipino preferred white beauties now. it seems like you're too young for your comment😂
Thats why I prefer attractive to beautiful

It is great that someone like you, young as you are, can talk about these things that a lot of us are asking in our minds. Thank you. Keep it up!

Great points

Here in the Philippines, you already exceeded our beauty standards.
Jessica's face should be in the Korean Beauty Standard.

i don’t think ryujin matches the korean beauty standards though?
@@user-ws8pq8cd2j As a man, we prefer ryujin's eyes because it is too sexy for the average korean girls. Like the foreign media says, they really get jealous of ryujins beauty.
Me too. But I'm neither monolid or double eyelid. Because I'm triple eyelid, due to being thin.
It’s sad, when the kids aren’t born beautiful as the surgically enhanced parent(s) because surgery only changes the outer appearance. I’ve read rumours online about men angry with the wives because the kids aren’t born beautiful.
selflove + acceptance + respect = universal beauty
Jessica is a mixed of korean and pilipina beauty...even without makeup just a simple beauty
YOU ARE MY STANDARD OF BEAUTY! JESSICA! INSIDE AND OUT
Irene is really the best sample
Irene is also ps too buccal fat remover & also rhino
@@visualbeauty3427 what's wrong undergoing plastic surgery?
@@watchWorld100 Do you really need to announce it if you just had minor surgery, like the eyelid one? Like just because you had the eyelid surgery, you will be tied down with the word "plastic surgery" as if you did your whole face? Well, I'm with you though that your partner should know about it if you really did a big change, or at least as you are the future "husband" you should at least get curious how your future wife looks like when she was young, if you are that doubtful of her face before marrying her.
What? You are right! Hard to keep up.😃
