    Hi Ana,
    I've got an Area Manager interview in 2 days and your video has been helpful. One thing I wasn't aware of with this role is the travel you mentioned, especially international travel. Can you elaborate on what kind of trips they've sent you on and how often? I haven't been able to find much on the topic otherwise. Thanks!

    • @AMEditionYT
      @AMEditionYT  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Brian! I wish you good luck at the job interview 🍀🤞😊
      In terms of travel it really depends on your company. It's good to ask them if you're going to travel for work.
      I usually go over to the UK as the head office is based in there and all big events, conferences, and training sessions happen in the UK.
      They're usual business trips for about 1-3 days where people interact with each other. Networking is a very important thing to get to know people better and share some ideas, (drinking helps a lot as well 🤣).
      These trips can be very intense as they're very informative but it's a great way to get out of the routine.

What are some ways I can better prepare myself for the job. Also is there any material I can read or specific research I need to do right now before starting, so I can ensure success once the job has begun. Please let me know.

    Super vidéo merci, I don"t know if you would share the same idea with me, I think that for the fields of Management, Sales, Marketing and on, It is more about good practices and having good common sense
    , You will say Porter's theory and Mintz berg books, I realize that they not funded theories but more about their experiences and how they succeed to make things work (It works it works and that's OK), as a proof I would ask you a question (If I have the right): Are you exportable
    ? (I mean If you could at the moment change your area and start working in another area with the same analysis ?) Merci

    • @AMEditionYT
      @AMEditionYT  5 років тому +2

      wow!!! Great thoughts! :) I like when I can talk about this on a professional level! I agree it's a lot about experience and testing what works and what doesn't in a certain job. And college didn't prepare me for this job at all, it was a lot of practice, common sense and experiments at work!
      Emmm...about being exportable I think it's possible cause the nowledge you get while working as an area manager is a lot about creating strategy, organizing the time and people as if I was to change the industry my experience would still count a lot!
      I know managers who worked in technology, then moved to the food industry and came back to technology! Their knowledge, expertise, skills and abilities were useful everywhere! :)

      @@AMEditionYT "College didn't prepare me for this job at all" I like this dangerous statement Hhhh .
      When I sad area I meant Region ( Country , continent and so on)
      In Algeria, I was working with Ericsson's board ( Ceo, key account managers) I realized that their power was in their network : they know most clients private & gov so they get markets and sell products well, I know this is a high Level of management but I can't Imagine X ceo worked 10 years in X country in other country, he will lose a lot of his power...
      If I would comment on you when u sad identifiying starategy, I think starategy is very high vision of many many components and a set of actions ( aspirations, goals, décisions ... Etc) its about 10 years vision , but I think most managers perform tasks and goals to follow a certain starategy defined by 1℅ people of the company.
      To be honest, after 3 years in Ericsson can't understand the world starategy Lol ,PS: for which company are u working ?

    Hi Ana! So I have an interview for the Area Manager role coming up!
    Its 3x30min panel interviews, what advice/tips do you have for someone who doesn't have much leadership experience so far.

    • @AMEditionYT
      @AMEditionYT  4 роки тому +6

      Hi! :) I totally understand your situation!
      I would suggest you to analyse you small leadership experience. Even it is very small it's still better than nothing!
      There are usually plenty of behavioral questions like: What would you do in a certain situation? How would you invest 100 euro to receive a positive return on investment etc. Try to think about it and what you could answer.
      Also I had a video about how to be successful during an interview: ua-cam.com/video/u0FpzciTXIQ/v-deo.html
      I will leave it in the description to this video so you can find it! :)
      Also get very well prepared and even talk to yourself, imagine different situations. Watch many videos on UA-cam about interviews and Area Managers' experience to gain some insights!
      Good luck to you! :)

    • @AMEditionYT
      @AMEditionYT  4 роки тому +1

      Hi! When is your interview? 😊
      I recorded a video with really good advice one hour ago and will publish it on Tuesday next week. That's gonna be useful for you 💯!
      I'd do a thorough research about the company, watch a few UA-cam videos about the company, read their "About us" page on their website and see if something impresses you. Use that in your interview 😊
      Also try see what pain points they have and how you can help them solve one of their problems, or a problem in their industry.
      Check who are their competitors and mention them as well (this is how they will see that you can help them achieve competitive advantage on the market).
      Dress up well to impress and show that you're a professional.
      Prepare some good questions to ask them like: What's my work day going to look like? Do you support a learning environment in the company and how this happens? What's the size of the team you will work with?
      I also had another video about Area Manager. That might be useful for you as well😊
      I wish you the best of luck!😊

    • @AMEditionYT
      @AMEditionYT  4 роки тому +1

      Hi! Wow! This is amazing! Good luck to you :)
      Will you have an online interview?
      I'd say watch as many recent videos about passing an interview as possible as there you can find really good advice!
      Think in advance what you're going to say. Maybe even talk to yourself and explain to yourself clearly why you are the best candidate for the position.
      Also make sure you have a list of your achievements and also a few tips to how you can help the company to improve its productivity! :)

    • @dunavyndeguzman5186
      @dunavyndeguzman5186 4 роки тому +2

      AM Edition thank you :)
      It is an online interview, the format is 15 minute debrief then a 45 minute interview 15 minute break, then another 45 minute interview. It seems pretty long is that how yours was ?
      And thanks I will brainstorm some ideas. I’m really interested in asking what kind of challenges you face as an AM?

    • @AMEditionYT
      @AMEditionYT  4 роки тому +2

      It sounds like a very intense interview. My interview lasted for one hour but felt like 10 minutes! The time will pass very quickly as you will talk a lot!
      Also, if you're well prepared the length shouldn't be a problem!
      Also challenges that I face as an AM are:
      - building relationships with hundreds of people. It can be very complicated to understand multiple personalities but with experience it gets much easier.
      - investing the budget. Usually area managers receive a monthly budget that they can invest as they want. Also the return on investment should be presented to the company. So at the beginning it can be difficult what works and what doesn't work so it can take some additional time to understand how to invest the budget correctly.
      - self organisation. I suppose that you will have a high degree of freedom and you will have to organize your time and be extremely effective and productive. It can be difficult esp if the industry is changing at a very fast pace. you need to try different ways to organize your time!
      - hitting 100% KPIs can be difficult sometimes as the KPIs can be very high and sometimes they might not totally depend on you! So for example your area is mystery shopped and you can only train the people in your area but the mystery shop results can depend on their mood, the time of the day, their own problems etc.
      - dealing with people who are not interested. Very often I have to figure out how to make people interested to deal with me. It can be difficult to understand what's the best way. Sometimes a little present or favour can help, or you can bring them for a cup of coffee to build some relationships.
      Also, I'd suggest to ask some questions and have them prepared and even written. Sth like:
      How does a usual work day looks like?
      What does the company do in order to support a learning culture in the organisation?
      What opportunities for development are there in the company? etc! :)
      Hope it will help a bit!
      Good luck to you! :)
