Such as Spectacular Spider man and Spider Man 1994, each ended on cliffhangers and 1 ended with an open plot

I've kinda noticed that after the movie, anytime Green Lanterns are referenced or a cameo in Warner Bros media, it's always as a joke, like it's become the new "Aquaman is Lame" joke.

@@sami5614 seriously why couldn't people move on from that crap. It is because that stigma we haven't had any animated projects centering around the green lanterns for a long time. Before that shitshow, dc put a lot of effort in their animated movies to bring more spotlight to the lantern corps. Even showing the backstories of the non human lanterns which shows the scale and potential of lanterns.

It pained me when I was little that we wouldn't see Razor as a Blue Lantern, that was a pretty good ending to the season.
Not sure if that would be possible within the universe's rules. Red Lanterns barf up all their blood when they join, after that only the ring is keeping them alive. If he took it off for more than a few moments he would die. But, ya know. Fuck that noise, I wanna se that too.
@@GaleHUN The GL Animated Universe took liberties with the comic book rules for Red Lanterns. Razer's ring ran out of power and was removed several different times. His character arc was really enjoyable though, seeing him overcome his hatred and being filled with hope again.
@@GaleHUN Not true, while removing a Red Lantern Ring will indeed kill the User, doing that is next to impossible in the first place due to the fail-safes in the Ring itself.
Furthermore, if a Red Lantern has their Ring replaced then that'll disallow any repercussions for disconnection with The Butcher and vice versa, as is the case with Guy Gardner.
Even having being disconnected from The Butcher other times has shown to not mean immediate death, since at one point it leaves Atrocitus yet The Butcher doesn't claim him.
@@GaleHUN The blue lantern ring is the only one to my knowledge which cures the effects of the red ring. It administers "antitoxins" and heals the user.
@@GaleHUN that's in the comics. In the show, Hal takes Razer's ring off in the second episode, Razer spends almost the entire third episode without his ring, there's an episode where all of their rings lose power, and he's still alive. Atrocitus also had his ring removed after Hal defeated him in Oa, and again when he's defeated in Zamaron. They also take off Zox's ring in some episode. Red Lanterns can survive without their ring in the show. Besides, in the comics, blue rings are the "antidote" for the removal of a red ring, I think. So even by the comics' logic, it would be possible for Razer to become a Blue Lantern.
I think dc and marvel have a hard on for cancelling great recent animated shows. Literally every good superhero show in the last 10 years has been cancelled early. from young justice, this, the good spidemans, that batman show, and others
Sic Semper Beats I know right, it’s like marvel and dc both concluded in 2013 to cancel everything, within a year they were all cancelled :/

It’s finally coming back. Just 1 more season is going to be made, but they may expand it if they get the results they want. It’s going to be on HBO Max, but there is no release date as of yet.

I remember waking up every Saturday morning to watch Green Lantern: The Animated Series. What a great show and I wish this had a second season. I hope one day it will have a revival like Young Justice.

I loved this show when I was younger. I actually preferred it more than Young Justice. Shame that it never got a second season and doesn't have the same following that YJ has.
Agreed, as a Child when it aired. I loved it, would sit down and watch it. It was possibly my first real interaction with DC. Ofcourse I knew about Super Man, but he wasnt my kind of hero and I never really got Young Justice at that age. I loved GL and the Blue Lanterns, rewatching it, I remembered all the episodes I saw as a kid and it almost felt like I watched the entire series then when it aired. With that said, GL is my favorite Branch of DC because of this show and I love the Blue Lanterns because of it too.
I actually sorta relate to this.
If I were to write a second season, I'd have Sinestro join the main cast, but for only one reason that I'll talk about later. It'd be inspired by the animated film, First Flight. The first half of the series would focus on the yellow lanterns which Sinestro finding in secret, until he says 'screw it' and going full yellow before attacking Oa. The second half will focus on the Blackest Night. The black lanterns and Nekkron serving the same role as the Anti-Moniter in season one. Along the way, we'd meet new faces like the indigo tribe, have a crossover with Superman and Adam Strange, bump into familiar faces with bigger roles this time like Tomar-Re and Larfleeze. We'd have Razor as a blue lantern, etc.
Razor needs to get added to the comics his character was such a good idea

One of the saddest ends to a show. Killed for the failure of a movie that wasn't given true effort. That movie pretty much killed DC Nation. Damn shame

When I first saw the show, I wasn’t interested because of young justice and the art style,but I decided to give it a try anyways. Tbh, I thought the show was gonna be trash but it was surprisingly amazing. It looks and feels a lot like clone wars because of the space setting and animation and it really expanded a lot on the green lantern mythos.
Billa Vanilla I had the same hesitations going in man, I had bad experiences with 3D animated shows but clone wars turned that all around
I just fucking hated the art style and when I did watch the show I was confused because I watched randome episodes. But im starting to open up. But im going to have to ask is this show super cheesy. Because I only can take that from Spider man (2002).
I spent a large chunk of my childhood wondering what razor would look like as a blue lantern, and I was so shocked when i found out 10 years later on a completely different show :-)

Hal Jordan is my favorite Superhero, and this show was an awesome experience for me. The Green Lanterns have struggled in comics and other mediums, but this show was able to take the best of what came before, and add to it going forward. Love this show, and wish we could have more seasons to explore Sinestro and his Corps, John Stewart and other Lanterns, and other stories of the GL mythology.

Joakim Comic Center yeh it’s very reminiscent hey, really similar struggles,same sorta path, I’d say zuko is written to be more subtle, razor is a bit more melodramatic

Giancarlo Volpe, the creator of GLTAS, did also work on ATLA, so maybe he drew inspiration from Zuko’s journey?
He also drew Zuko, Razer, and Tom from Star Vs together a few years ago, lol

Fantastic review man! Great clip choices as well, I love the one you chose of Razer saying machines don't have souls. It really showed how much feeling Aya truly had, as her feelings were hurt by that statement.

I miss this show. I always liked that Green Lantern was the one superhero book that would change and to me they were mostly good runs and interesting characters. I wish we'd get more Green Lantern content outside of comics

With the recent success of Aquaman, I really hope they make a new Green Lantern movie. Deadpool 2 already acknowledged that, as far as Ryan Reynolds is concerned, that movie is dead and he personally killed it. The time is right to give it another shot. Let's keep up hope for a good Green Lantern movie!

Another series review !! This time the Green Lantern series, I'm starting to go through the DC animated shows so bare with me for the next couple uploads, but have fun guessing which one I'll dive into next... I'm not giving any hints !! After I've finished the DC shows I'll be taking requests (Transformers Prime, Ben 10 etc) so let me know what you'd like :D

I praise Young Justice for canonizing this series into their continuity. Hopefully they continue the story every now and then.
This show was incredible. It is criminal that it got cancelled on such a high note. I rewatched this show over and over again as a kid, and it never got old. It never will.

I think all of us were frustrated when they cancelled all the action cartoon shows for them cheap overly goofy shows like ttg!
Honestly I think the next season was going to focus on the Sinestro core and we had a LOT of hints that they were planning to go into the Blackest Night once all the cores were established. It’s really too bad that the series was cancelled.
Also... I’d actually say it’s 2 seasons as after the Red Lantern arc the show took a long break, and they seemed to play it as a “Season Finale” although I think now they are calling it just 1 season like they did with Justice League Unlimited Season 2-3 (where they now say it’s more of 2 seasons... not 3...)

I was already interested in this show after seeing Razer's moment in Young Justice then you mention Josh Keaton voicing Hal? Ok i'm definitely putting this on my to watch list.
I LOVED this series when I was younger. The romantic plot just happened to appeal to me bc it’s my taste, but the show itself was awesome. I kinda wanna watch it again now

Yes I watched it on Cartoon Network when it aired. I like how they ended the series with a blue lantern hope ring chasing after razor.
In a few days this series became one of my favourites

If you're looking for more comic book adaptations that stay close to the source materials and don't shy away from more complex themes I recommend Iron-Man TAS and Hulk TAS
Out of the 90's Marvel cartoons I feel like these 2 are the most underrated. I barely see anyone talking about them.

Bro I loved this show when I was a little kid, I would record it and watch it with my dad on the weekend. My dad and I would get in arguments whether I'd be a green or blue lantern. This show was honestly amazing and I wish it lasted another season.
This show could have been remembered in the same way as the clone wars if it got more seasons.

I LOVED this show and really wanted more. It was faithful to the space Jordan of the late 70's early 80's which is so integral to Green Lantern.
I like this show because of the Red Lanterns! They were a tough core and the leader was sympathetic! Tight!!
I loved this show! And I had a crush on Razer. He kinda reminded me of Zuko from ATLA. And the ending was heartbreaking (but also epic, because of Razer's transformation.) I wish they made another season... that was a hell of a cliffhanger
This is simply one of the best cartoons/shows ever made it made the lantern lore cool asf and introduced the pink, blue and orange lanterns for the first time on screen and Razor is easily the best character his development is almost as great as Zuko from avatar, and how sweet and real Aya was
That was an awesome series that died way to soon.
They had so much potential with the sinestro set up and maybe even blackest night.
But sadly , it got canceled.
My only real problem was the design of atrocitus.
I felt like they only got to lay the groundwork, totally spot on hey, cancelled too soon :/

Kilowog in the Justice League International of the late '90's might interest you. There, for a reason I can't quite remember, he's on Earth taking time off from being a Green Lantern. Initially he's there to hang out with JLI resident GL Guy Gardner, but decides to stick around using his technical intelligence to basically do for the JLI what Forge used to do for the X-Men. So here he's not the gruff drill seargent, more the visiting uncle who's idea of a holiday is to tinker with anything around the house that doesn't seem to be working as well as it could. Just discovered & enjoying your videos. :)

Both Green Lantern and Beware the Batman are criminally underrated and died too soon
I recently got into this show and omg… It is INCREDIBLE. The second major arc of the show is genuinely fucking mindblowing and had me absolutely ugly sobbing with the last episode. Razer absolutely captured my heart and I’m simply obsessed with him because of how incredible his character is

I watched it before or after don’t really remember but it played before or after starwars the clone wars so I watched it almost everytime watched tv! And I loved it a bit less than clone wars and I think clone wars is one of the best shows ever even as a child!
So, with season one having the Green Lanterns, Red Lanterns, Star Sapphires, Blue Lanterns, Larfleeze, and the Manhunters. What would we have seen in a second season? The Sinestro Corps War, the Indigo Tribe, maybe a backstory for Abin Sur, or even the Blackest Night?
I loved GL-TAS and I’m so happy they have brought back parts of this in the young justice phantoms
Razer is a character DC barely returned too and I feel he is needed to be given more of a spotlight.
Like spectacular Spider-Man this show needs another season. I believe if there was another season then the show would be better.
something I always liked about the show is that the main cast all have distinct speech patterns. Of course, that happens all the time in shows, making characters sound unique from each other is really useful when writing dialogue, but this is the first time I really noticed it. I'm willing to bet that you could just make up something that one of them would say, and without hearing their voice I'd be able to tell who you had in mind. Hal is snarky, but optimistic, with sarcasm acting as a vehicle for honesty. Kilowog has this military hardness to him. Razor talks in a very formal way, probably to keep his anger under control, but occasionally gets sarcastic, but unlike Hal, it's a form of aggression. And Aya is, well, robotic.
If the Green Lantern movie was a success, we could’ve gotten so many more seasons. So much potential was missed up.
Such a phenomenal show. I practically cry after each rewatch knowing it never continued. It was nice to get some closure in Young Justice

I'm late to this party... but I really appreciate your review. I will say, that in some ways, I'm glad this series had one season. And that is coming from someone who loved it. I say this because this series really functions as one long movie. It has an arc, a clear progression, and an ending. It was total eye candy, which is not a negative. But as you said, compelling storylines and characters that you truly invest in. With many surprises and misdirects along the way. I could go on and on, but suffice to say this series is an under-rated gem. Great review.

Arkan NOA sadly just for one episode, Warner Bros wanted him for a sequel (that never happened) same with the yellow lanterns, thus why neither was in the show
Only for one episode that set up his arc. They planned on doing an adaptation of Sinestro Corps as the next arc in season two.

Razor is one of my favourite characters in the series because he joined green lantern and kilowog.
And he's such a great character

Yeah thing is the kilowatt they show in the series that's the one from the comics the scientific genius the toughest Nails Drill Sergeant the soldier who would give his all and more to safeguard the members of his Troop that is kilowog. Enough willpower to crack a planet and a heart so big and tender it Rivals that of Superman. A lot of people don't get to know him because you have to read a lot of green Lantern Comics to see his character Arc and how it unfolds
I literally always used to watch it on tv every week when it came at 9am on Saturday’s as a kid. It was amazing.

My guess is season 2 would have had sinestro as the villain for the first half and then the entirety of sinestro core for the second half. Especially because razer was going to get a blue ring. I forget if the indigo core was made in the comics yet but if it was, then it could be interesting.

Green Lantern has always been my favorite superhero and this show was a great version of the mythos. I felt like they gave Hal a personality very similar to Captain Kirk and I thought it fit perfectly for him.
I loved this show a lot. A childhood favourite of mine, I am glad to see more love being shown to this series.

Wow, wow, someone really talks about this animated series in-depth. I really love this series. The most attractive part is when `Aya Happened`, oh man, really excited moment.
I remember it was 2015 when I first saw it during my 1st-year at university.; it was an everyday routine to see the same episode again and again. I remember I kept telling my roommate to watch but they thought it's a kid series, LOLz.
I really recommend others to watch this series. In fact, for me, I was first inspired in AI to watch Aya :P
I liked it! I didn't get THAT into it, but that's largely because it didn't get the chance to really go places. It was very good for a one season show, but it never got the chance to realize it's potential. :(
The fact that the blue lantern ring was headed to razor as the Final scene of the series pissed me off to this day.
I would do ANYTHING to revive this fucking series man. Anything.

Watching this show really engulfed me in the green lantern mithos. Before this all I had was the justice league show, but now since I’ve watched this show, I doodle little blue Hope symbols on every desk I’ve worked on. And I’m sure I’m not the only one that found appreciation to Green Lantern through this show.
Most reviews give just a summary of each episode then say if the entire show was good or bad, thank u for not being 1 of them
It broke my heart that we never got to see Razer as a blue lantern.
The movie flopped but the Animated Series was magnificent and immortal, as usual DC animation takes the best storylines from the comics and knits them together.
And in this story they deepened Kilowog, the Guardians and gave us what may be DC's most touching love story between Aya and Razr.
I wasn't keen on this show when it started, but after a few episodes it really grew on me, there are still a few things I'm not keen on, I really like it when they are closer to the source, but even these things grew on me due to good writing and I think they should have given it a chance.
Outside of comics there really isn't much love for the characters within the GL Corps, either crammed into League/DC projects that don't have much time for them, or the three movies that are out there, the 2011 movie that rushed so much and what I think is similar in tone to every Marvel movie but nobody likes; we have the animated First Flight which is okay but just like the 2011 movie it kinda rushes things, and we also have Emerald Knights, which is a compilation of shorts which is probably the best one.
There is also a game based on the 2011 movie which is quite fun, and has an average story, it's unsurprisingly better than the movie too.
Season 2 could have had blue lantern Razer, a Sinestro arc, Parallax and some other DC heroes. Why was it cancelled!!
I wish we get a season 2 of this show since Josh Keaton both voiced Spider-Man in Spectacular Spider-Man & Green Lantern in GL:TAS. Both series where Josh Keaton voiced a Marvel & DC Character. Never got a new season after 1 or 2 seasons.

It’s a real shame this show got canceled after 1 season because we never got see the Indigo Tribe or Sinestro become a yellow lantern and create the yellow lantern corps.
Saint Walker became my favorite DC character through this series
I was upset when they ended this series. Even more now that I know the stories of the corps.
Cartoon Network had a video game of on it's channel for this series. It was really fun.
This show definitely needs a second season or more so will somebody please tell the executives at DC or AT&T whoever is in control of this to get off their lazy asses and make it happen

This show and Wolverine and the X-Men are the Freaks & Geeks of the animated superhero tv genre. Great shows that ended too soon.
