A question for the locals : Can someone tell me what is the isotherm in the mountains surrounding Gulmarg, at the end of May and end of june (basically, what altitude is the snow limit at these times, or does the snow completely melts, and at what time, around Apharwat summit ? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the comment. Plz keep posting. As far as ur question I would like to mention that mountains around gulmarg i.e afarwat and other peaks in pirpanjal himaliyas have good amount of snow in MAY end and mountains are covered with snow almost up to kongduri i.e 10 k feet. However at the end of june afarwat is almost snowless but peaks in pirpanjal like sunset peak, pir takya, tatakuti etc still have some snow. There may be more snow in upper valleys. This above information is bases upon my own observation and confirming the same by pictures captured by me in these times. Hope this is helpful . Regards.
@@Serenelensing Thanks so much for the information. Very useful to me ! It's also quite difficult to find precise information on Protected Areas for which, as a foreigner, I would need to apply for a permit. Would you be able to refer me to the appropriate site or administration ? I'm planning to organize a trek starting in Teetwal (I'm sure in Protected area) but then up through the mountains of upper Lasher valley, Bangus, the summits up to Viji Top, and then from Bunyiar to Gulmarg Top Helipad 1, Alpathar Lake, Apharwat and down to Gulmarg. I'm aware it's a "sensitive area", but I don't know to what level of "sensitive" it is for a foreigner to be allowed there...
