- What was once part of the Midland Main Line, Peak Dale previously had a railway station called Peak Forest railway station which closed when passenger services were withdrawn. However, the station building survives as offices for the adjacent quarry as does the line through the station, which is now known as the Great Rocks Line. In the 1990s various types of traction could be found here on workings to and from the quarry as seen here captured on this warm and sunny afternoon in August 1991.
