On the river you can't go wrong with a jig and a grub plastic. That's a popular spot in summer in lower waterstreet for pleasure boaters. Few good snags for cats near there

This video reminded me of the time I took a 93 year old world war 2 vet cat fishing. He has since passed away but my dad got Parkinson’s at 47 so I know he’ll be in my boat in a wheel chair when he’s older. That must be tough...

Its all about the bottom feel, always increase weight until you feel it with that technique, then back off the weight as you get better. Drift jigging and snagging too heavy is another story. Rivers are the deal when you start to get the hang of them. Great video good laughs!

John Sanders, pool 2 of the Mississippi from the Ford dam to the Hastings dam is open year round but only catch and release , for walleye, sauger, smallmouth and largemouth bass. And the Mississippi river from the railroad bridge at Prescott Wisconsin south is open year round to keep walleye and sauger(15 inch minimum for walleye).
Do you have a link of the regulations on the river? I was wondering how they were out there legally too
@ Dan Cain I don't have a link but you can download the fishing regulations from the Mn dnr website, page 52 shows the regulations for pool 2 of the Mississippi (twin cities area) and page 63 and 64 shows the regulations for the Mississippi from Prescott south. Hope this helps.
