Fascinating! A glimpse into a world which though only just over 100 years ago, seems so distant now. Where people lived in the same village all their life and often never travelled at all. Where songs, stories and even current affairs were passed from one to another in an oral tradition. Thank heavens Grainger had the foresight to record this.
Sounds very similar to the Irish balled tradition. Only a couple of songs in, but the songs are great. (Age is impressive -- weird to think this over a hundred years ago...)
