'Bally Boat' 2:30
As you can see in this thread mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=115504, Jean Ritchie claimed that ‘bally’ came from something like ‘good’ in a Celtic language, which does not appear to be accurate. The word is more likely ‘bawley boat’ (a type of English sailing vessel), or a corruption of ‘bonny boat’, a phrase used in other traditional ballads.
2:58 The final syllable of the song is spoken, not sung. This is a feature of traditional Irish language sean-nós singing.

The melody is similar in many ways to the Ritchie version, but is closer to the famous 'Dives and Lazarus' or 'Star of the County Down' tune.
