- Hey Gang, I'm working on getting our tow dolly ready for a road trip. I have had issues loading our Honda Fit onto it as the car sits so low. Here is my fix for making the tie downs work better.

Again another good hat tip to ArcCaptain
Barry, I may have to put those on my car trailer, an small trailer. Stay safe T/B. 😊
Mikey likes. That ratchet strap is a problem on most vehicles on that trailer. It could be done allot better from the factory. No telling how many of those straps are cut off because you can't get the ratchet to release. Oh and now I want those ratchet straps to weld to my trailer... Love that light in the welder. Getting harder to see in the dark...
Excellent video I had the exact same problem thanks you a million.👍👍👍.
That's a great idea. I had the same problem when I rented a dolly to move my daughters car several years ago. I had to lift up on the front of the car so my son could release the strap. We were just barely able to get it fully extended.
Great job 👏
Another good, well thought out solution.
I’ve thought about doing exactly this but don’t have a welder. I’m sure you know that you can release the original ratchet strap with the screwdriver so that you don’t have to extend it all the way. Did you think about welding on a bracket on the back of the new ratchet ( like U channel) so you can just bolt it to the factory strap where the original one bolts on?
thought about that, but I liked the version I came up with. I can use either one now.
