I find all kinds of fun stuff inside of this old gear. Bridged power switches are pretty common. Usually folks just say "stays on when plugged in -- no idea why" even though it's obviously been tampered with. I've come across a few like this one with inline clicky switches added to the power cord. My favorite find so far was a pair of big computer fans along with a 12Vdc wall wart shoved inside a Marantz 4100 with jumper wires wrapped around the 120Vac input and electrical taped to the prongs on the plug. Seems like troubleshooting the heat issues would have been a better approach, but I have to give them points for creativity.
