@@ImOldGreggyou think you sound smart but the old taco had either an i4 or v6 with the same auto or manual gearbox as found on toyota's "econoboxes." all manufacturers share power trains between models to save on r&d costs. the V6 has been the same for more or less two decades with incremental updates.
I'd rather buy the poverty trim
Jakub, Zen Monk: That's the problem. You already have that in your head, rather than experiencing what it actually is.
Those seats are such a GIMMICK!!
2025 Tacoma TRD Pro Wish List
1. Make the bouncy seats optional.
2. Optional 3.4L V6 TT from the Tundra.
The V6 is dead in the Tacoma from here on out. As for the seats, yes, they need to be an option.
The 3.4L would make this thing significantly more appealing to me.
But since Ford has the 2.7L and 3.0L Ecoboost in the ranger I can just buy one of those.
There were Concept mentionings of an XRunner (xtra cab 4x2) with the Tundra TTV6
at least you're not asking for a front locker. Toyota has been denying that request for decades.
@@JerryRichards-l1d You might hurt yourself with one of those things. Just like you might hurt yourself if they gave you the ability to lock the rear diff in any mode besides 4Lo.
I mean, could you imagine what might happen if you locked the rear diff in 2Hi or 4Hi 🤣
I bought a Ranger Raptor about 2 months ago, and I am so happy with my purchase. I think this TRD is sick, however the pricing is outrageous, and the power is down significantly. on top of that Ford just came out with a factory tune for the RR, so for roughly $900 you can get about an extra 50 HP and 100 lb ft of torque boost as well.. so I believe Toyota and chevy are falling behind in this Baja segment.
7:36 Yuri spitting on the dipstick. Didn't see that coming today.
The Trail hunter is a better option for most people TBH.
$70K for a 4-cylinder, cast aluminum tophats that can fail, no front locker, suspension seats that reduce backseat legroom by 50%. And those stupid externally adjusted shocks that make you get out of your truck and get on all fours to turn those dirt-, mud-, and/or snow-covered knobs when I could simply press a button in the Ranger Raptor. Get the $800 Ford-warrantied ECU flash and the RR gets 455 hp and 535 lb/ft torque. RIP TRD Pro.
I was a gen 3 Tacoma owner for 8 years and now I own a Tacoma hybrid and to say you guys miss that V6 vs this new hybrid engine with the 8 speed is shocking lol.. You need to drive them back to back!
Yuri. Get a foam roller and roll your butt, side cheeks, glutes & lower back. It hurts like hell.. Also do banded squats to fix your Sciatica.
lol
This person knows their stuff
Never foam roll your lower back, just your thoracic spine.....
@@jackhammerpkayou CAN foam roll your lower/lumbar spine, but you shouldn’t do it in a fully horizontal position, you can do it from a pseudo seated/reclined position w/ the roller just above your glutes & roll slowly down from there, but yeah as a general rule need to be careful
The $50,000 Colorado ZR2 kicks both their asses!
Literally. The raptor is cool but like 10k more than the ZR2. People saying the ranger raptor is a bargain compared to the taco need to look at the pricing for the zr2 because it's even CHEAPER haha
I went with the Ranger Raptor over this.
same, all it took was 10 minutes of driving them both.
@@JerryRichards-l1d Did the ProCal tune too. Its a rocket🚀
Looks really good imo, but can't imagine who in their right mind would buy one. That's luxury trim full size truck money
It's pricey but not luxury truck pricey. Denali Ultimate and F150 Limited will both push you close to if not more than 6 figures
Neither one of y'all were impressed on the launch. Don't 🤥
Over the last few years my once unshakeable Toyota loyalty and love (like decades and decades) has been trending toward shakeable. I’m still hoping Toyota gets its head out of its tailpipe but the hope is waning…
5:50 “nice” had me cracking up😂😂
Portable speaker from the dash is cool. Good idea 👍🏻
I had an 18 Pro I just traded it in for a 24 offroad base manual. Much nicer drive to me. A 23 Pro in Canada was 64k now 84k and my province is 15 % which is 23k in the difference.
You always have to take the longevity vs the other brands. We can proudly confirm most Toyota’s can easy go over 1million miles with the original engine and transmission.
Let's see a Frontier now.
@@JB50713 hey what’s up troll plenty of videos to watch on the frontier more than welcome to go on there, this one is about the Tacoma, troll

That’s a nice looking truck and the power is good too for the size. Should go good!
Yes, my biggest pet peeve Yuri called out, that car companies do not allow you to put the bright/cool interior colors with bright/cool exterior colors. you pick a red car you cant have red interior. I want red on red! (BMW is one of the few if only that still allows this to be a choice)
If you think it’s too expensive, don’t buy it. Don’t worry about other people and what they do with their money.
I picked up a TRD Off Road (TRD Amateur) yesterday for $6,500 off MSRP, so they’re making deals. ❤
Best of luck, hope it treats you well! My buddy traded his 3rd gen trd off road in for the 4th gen. He had his 3rd gen back by the end of the week as his new truck had a catastrophic failure with the entire electronics system which totaled the brand new (still stock) car.
They are making deals cause they are overpriced and are stacking up on lots.
Yuri should design the shirts saying some of the most said lines in the video
"we are going for a DRIVE"
Decisions, decision... $40k Maverick hybrid or this $80k truck (price does not include taxes, fees, advantage dealer installed package that you can't forgo and small dealer markup of $15k.) They should make it PHEV.
With trucks, be nice if you showed the door sticker of the rated payload. Super helpful for towing.
Ill take a Frontier all day every day. Most reliable truck on the road hands down.
80k n 4cyl is complete madness . Nice truck , cool show piece seats , good on paper specs but at 80k it’s a niche edition and you mine as well look at bigger options at this price point new and used .
$55k tops
It looks like a regular Tacoma on synthol
The TRD PRO should've just been a SuperCab, if you're going to put Sim Racing Seats In It 😅
Nice truck, LOVE the Terra color, but I'm not paying that much for a 2 seat truck. Also, we need an FJ Cruiser shirt! Ooops, I mean Nouveau Riche Retro FJ eyes shirt lol!!
Been watching you guys for years, and I'm super happy to see time stamps in the video. However, the title for each chapter just says Tacoma. Can you guys put specifics like Interior, Performance, Likes/Dislikes, etc.?
UA-cam error
I swear all the pro stuff in 2024 are a “not much to offer for an insane price tag.” iPhone 16 Pro, PS5 Pro, Tacoma TRD Pro. And I bet there’s someone out there with all three on orders. 🤣
Speaking of the shirts, I’d love one of the Pontiac Solstice (base) in green.
Frontier Pro 4X is still my choice! Best in the class
But we’re not talking about that truck in this video

Some of us just want a V-6, 4WD truck for $30-35k. That’s all we’ve ever wanted.
I love my 06 tacoma but nah I'm giving it to the Ranger Raptor this time. Not that I could afford either one but still. Nothing against ford either cuz both are great but my money would go to the ranger over the taco
Toyota truck family here, several with over 300K. Recently purchased Bronze Oxide TRD Sport non-hybrid. Paid $48K USD with 14" screen and Sport upgrade. Didn't want sunroof or the bad Toyota fake leather. Plan to keep it "forever". Never go off-road, don't tow, pure pavement and dirt road motorcycle hauling. Seeing 20.2 mpg mixed driving. Sorry, don't know what that converts to "Canaaaadian" (said in Yuri's voice). The back seat is not for passengers: great for keeping bike gear out of the elements, bad for hauling humans with legs.
Guessing the Pro's seats would make the near-useless back compartment wasted space other than doing a Straight Pipes old school box test. I'm diehard Toyota, but for the Pro's intended use of high speed rough off-roading - and not pure pavement use that I'm guessing most will be used for (driving to craft beer store, going to Influencer party at sunset parked next to Sprinter vans) - I would purchase an older Tacoma or mod a supposedly-less-reliable Ranger Raptor.
if you wanted to keep it forever, should have gotten a 3rd gen. same MPG, better offroad ability, better room inside, actually has bumpstops.
@@HAHA.GoodMeme We have all the gens. Third gen Sport given to young nephews who only drive to school and local trailheads. The 4th gen is vastly superior for our trips where a lot of highway miles connect tame dirt roads. The transmission, seating position and adaptive cruise control are night and day better than our previous gens. Changing oil ever 5K and hoping this 4th gen lasts long enough that the nephews' kids will take over.
@@StinkyYamaLinky Yeah, I just traded my 2016 TRD Off Road in on a 2024 TRD Off Road, and it's a better truck in every way. I remember when the 3rd gen first came out people were hating on them too. If you go back and read the comments on the forums or UA-cam, everyone was lamenting the 4.0L engine, and the 4 speed auto. Everyone said the 3rd gen was a dud, that the 3.5L engine and 6 speed auto were garbage and they'd be failing left and right..........here we are 8 years later, and all of that was objectively false. Time will tell if this truck is as reliable as that '16 was, but having owned both from new back to back, I can confidently say that the '24 is better in every way.
The resale value for this Tacoma will out weigh the Raptor's lower cost. Plus the box body for this Tacoma is just sick, I'll take this over the Raptor any day.💯
The raptor hold their value better than most, but the real question is, if this is such a good vehicle then why are you already interested in selling it? Lmfao

Miss the v6
Toyota= reliability
The price for vehicles these days is crazy though…
why is this $25k more than a trd off road? lmfao when the zr2 is only $6k more than the z71 or trail boss

TRD off road is not $40K more like $50K
The hybrid TRD Offroad Premium is knocking on the TRD Pro’s price in the low 60’s, even without the gimmick seats.
This and the ranger raptor should never be in the dame sentence. The ranger raptor stands on its own as a high performance midsized. Well ford basically owns the performance truck category lol
Imagine reviewing a TRD Pro and never leaving asphalt
Did we watch the same video?
I can’t believe the overwhelming amount of disappointment I feel with this Tacoma, and I’ve been a Tacoma fan for a long time and have owned 2 of them. I feel like Toyota is going in a wrong direction with what they’ve done with the Taco and the 4Runner.
Do a review of the refreshed Frontier Pro 4X
Seat shocks are the most ridiculous thing that Toyota has pulled off. At some point these shocks will require a rebuild. What's the point of moving away from reliability? At 100k or 150k , with all these sensors and moving parts, it will be a maintenance nightmare!
I have one of those pumps (non-digital) for the front forks of my mountain bike!
I just ordered a fully loaded 2025 Silverado RST with a 30mpg diesel, 13k tow capacity, etc for the same price as this truck...
I am looking to get a Suburban RST with the baby Duramax..
You're probably right but I do not need a truck with 4 cylinder with a pack of triple A batteries in it... I used to be a Toyota lover, no more now.
You wanna feel what it is a real truck drive the Ford ranger raptor, you'll see 😊
Tacoma over 80K and STILL with the inline 4. What is toyota thinking?
Ya, Nah. Now with Toyotas engine blowing up problems I'll stick to the Raptor
Woah boy that MSRP is wild! Cool looking truck but...damn.
Looks nice but for that price just get a Tundra
But Tundra TRD Pro is over 80k lol
If u have enough $ u can probably customize whatever colors u want. If ur just picking from what’s available tho, they prob don’t have red on red or whatever because they don’t have enough desire for combination’s like that. U got $ tho… they might work w ya.
Gonna say it from the outset: overpriced and already smashed by the Ford Ranger Raptor.

You would think spending so much money as earned you the right to pick whatever available colors you want. Also who greenlit diarrhea brown for the TRD pro exclusive color? Lmo
No bump stops on the frame, and people are blowing their shock top hats or rather top mounts. What a stupid decision by Toyota, and I look forward to them eating crow and putting them back on probably a mid cycle refresh. The truck does look good, but sitting in it. It feels like I’m lying down compared to my 4Runner. Automatic lift gates for somebody that’s ready light and not heavy is just something that’s gonna break in the future. It’s gonna be costly. Interior dash does look good, but I hate digital display for the gauges as again that’s just something that in the future, if it breaks can be very expensive to repair.
