Im getting ready to plant the same for screening from my house and the road. Im curious what to do next year when it needs to be replanted, do you have to cut it down, till it in, or seed over the previous years dead laid over egyptian grass, maybe you can go over the process for next year planting
Hey rob, thanks for checking out the video. I guess it depends how big of an area you are planting and what type of equipment you are using. But I would give it a light till. If you’re using a smaller tiller I would also cut the grass and clear the area a little bit before tilling it so it doesn’t clog it up for you. If you till it up with all the 7’-10’ stalks on the ground it might cause some clogging issues for your tiller. If you’re using farming grade equipment then cutting the grass wouldn’t be necessary. I will definitely do a video on replanting the Egyptian wheat next year before planting season!
@@NWIWhitetails Did it come up and grow with broadcasting? I thought sorghum needs to be planted deeper. I'm waiting for my plots to pop in WI because we had a 3 week drought. I disced, broadcasted and rolled.
@@kurtcaramanidis5705 yes, it’s coming up. I used the knobby tires on the side by side to get it packed it. You can tell where it’s a little patchy where the tires didn’t evenly get the entire area. The ground was moist when I did it, so that helped the tires get the seeds in a little deeper.
Good stuff! We’re about to get our plot going. I’m going to have to come back and reference these!! Keep up the good work!
Weather is finally starting to break here so we can start. Good luck!
Nice video man, I like the map. Thats a nice touch!
Thanks!
good info as always!
