Probably the best repurposing in any season of Power Rangers was the Mystic Mother, where the writers took advantage of the Magiranger counterpart being played by Machiko Soga, who had portrayed Bandora, Rita's Sentai counterpart, in what would unfortunately become her final performance. Honestly it was a perfect tribute to her for Power Rangers to repurpose what was meant as a separate character into a fully redeemed Rita, even having her complain that the Mystic Force villains were giving her a headache in case there was any doubt who it was meant to be. And yes, Thrax should've been more than just a oneoff villain for an anniversary episode.
In any Tokusatsu hero shows produced by Toei, Magiel is Machiko Soga's good guy first and last during her lifetime, Toei really like her villain archetype roles since the late 70s.

Just looked at the list of Power Rangers actors that have passed away since the recent news of Jason David Frank and so many characters I remember have passed away years ago inluding Rita Repulsa. Sad to think about as Rita always stuck in my mind and here I was thinking she would still be alive and well 😔

Too bad we never got to see a live action version of Rita’s mom. Oh well, at least we got her in the comics. I think the flashbacks with Rita’s mom in said comics took place before Power Rangers mystic force.
What I love about the comics they can get more complex. The stories were always hinder because they had to fit into the reuse footage and with comics they can go all out
This was a well done video. Rita is by far one of the most iconic villain from Power Rangers. I really enjoyed how you included the information on Rita that is given to us fans from The Boom! Studios comic series. I think that information is just so wonderful and helps us to understand Rita better.
She was always my favorite of the Power Rangers villains. I don't know how well this would go but I would love a series focused more on her showing her backstory. Kinda like an adaption of the comics.
Netflix brought me here. Also I am not surprised that the story went over my head when I was 5 years old, had to rewind many times just to soak this in as an adult.
Sadly the woman who played Rita Repulsa passed away in the early 2000s after she played the Good Mother. I think she was in her 50s or 60s I think. 😥 😞😳😔.

She is one of the main reasons of the success of the early years of the Power Rangers, a very hilarious villainess. It was quite interesting to see how she made Lord Zedd fall in love for her throught magic just to see how he genuinely fell in love with her.
If this is a joke or reference to the series, thats fine. But in reality the moon rotates like the Earth over time. It rotates at about the same pace as the Earth spins so it doesn't look like it moves at all to us.
Fun fact: Rita and her gang were originally supposed to be defeated and sealed back in her dumpster by the Power Rangers in the episode "Doomsday", much like how her Super Sentai counterpart Bandora was, however with the huge popularity of MMPR Saban decided to keep her around and have more episodes for season 1 filmed. Honestly going back and watching that episode, it really does feel like a season finale and I'm a bit disappointed that it didn't end the way it was supposed to, especially since they ended up writing Rita out for a while at the beginning of season 2 anyways.
Always and forever be one of the best PR Villians of all time. Never could enough of her opening line in the theme song opening as well when she threw her magic wand to make the monsters grow. 😎👍🏻⚡⚡

I never read that comic, and never would have thought that Rita's mom had the dragon shield, but it makes sense to me that Rita would still hold on to part of her past as she made the Dragonzord Power Coin, or straight up inherited the Dragonzord shield and power, then fused it with psyhco-green's evil energy to make it even more powerful. And yes, I love the fact that Rita still uses a dragon motif in Mystic Force as the Mystic Mother when she gives the rangers a dragon option for their megazord.

In the orginal super sentai series Witch Bandora aka Rita Repulsa the main reason she hates the rangers is she blames them for the death of her son. I highly recommend watching the original Japanese series ZyuuuRanger which the first season of mmpr is based on. It has a slightly different feel and gets a little bit darker story wise. All in all can't go wrong with either version.
While japanese give their characters a back story and character development, gringos treat the shows for kids in an extremely basic way, MMPR were like an 80s saturday morning cartoon, with Rita being a basic "runing away at the end of the episode" villain.
Greatest over the top, campy, cheesy, shrieking, actress to grace film. Barbara Goodson's interpretation was an absolutely perfect fit for the show! Pretty interesting back story of the character
Fun fact. In Zyuranger she was actually imprisoned for 170 million years. Not 10,000 like MMPR. Also right after she is let free in Zyuranger she kills the astronauts unlike MMPR when she doesn't. She's a lot more villainous in Zyuranger!

I was so Excited to See Rita Again in Mystic Force, Wish Zed Would have shown up too, But damn did it ever make me happy to see she became the Guardian of Magic and Earth.
My head canon: Rita (now known as Mystic Mother) knows about the existence of Robo-Rita (from Once and Always), the resurrection of Lord Zedd (from his evil essence) via Reaghoul from Dino Fury, and Zedd teaming up with Squid Ink, Inc. in Cosmic Fury. And she also knows about the Morphin’ Masters (my guess is that Zayto later gets to meet him so that both him and Mystic Mother can keep an eye on Zedd, who is now imprisoned in the planet Nibyro).
Rita became the good witch in Mystic Force, I believe I don't know what happened to Lord Zedd after the cleansing wave. It would have been nice, if he was an archaeologist to have discovered a lost Power Ranger powers with Tommy and through then does the new team discover their powers, weapons and Zords, as each Ranger must prove their worth to gain their unique weapon and their Zord. A kind of one shot using a modified Dairangers team suit (to look different to The MMPR White Ranger) I don't know how Thrax survived the cleansing wave.

So Lord Zedd was turned back into his human-like form before touching the Zeo Crystals. Rita was born partly of good, so her bad side was destroyed. Rito must have been pure evil, born of Master Vile and an unknown woman who must be pure evil as well. Rita, as sometimes agreed (not officially canon) to have been pregnant when the wave hit, so how did *Thrax survive to be evil?

The demons in Lightspeed were trapped with magic, so it must have cancelled the wave out as the seal on the tomb must have blocked the evil energies. Master Orc was actually human who ate an evil seed, well the modern day one anyway, the orgs might have survived due to being turned to stone, which hid their evil energies, it's also possible that with orgs that are in a human disguise are able to hide their evil energies, as their horns must be the source of their evil energies. Lothor was human and a trained ninja, his evil grew and was sent away, the monsters he found must have survived as, I assume, some kind of eggs in some special ancient place or waited in a with so much evil energy the Zordon wave was too weak to over come the evil coming from that planet. If Eltar is the Ranger homeworld and a place of good then there has to be a place of evil that breeds monsters. So logically some monsters survived by being too young to leave the planet at that time or are there in reserve waiting to be recruited by a boss matching their frequency that matches a Ranger's frequency, some returned to recharge their evil batteries and that's why some older monsters survived as well, while others survived by going into some some kind of suspended animation or being sealed away, so that hid their evil energies on other planets before the wave came. Evil will always find a way to exist. which could be the answer you're looking for.
there's a theory that much of zordon's energy had been drained by dark specter already. so maybe with dark specter's death it was starting to return to him slowly. but he may have only had enough energy to wipe out the invading armies of rita repulsa, lord zedd, the machine empire, divatox, havoc, and astronema while turning a few good. even starting in galaxy we see reused monsters and footsoldiers like piranhatrons in onyx. if zordon's wave was supposed to take out all evil there wouldn't be a show after in space. no trakeena, demons, etc. also zedd did become an archeologist in the video game power rangers super legends but i don't think that counts as canon to the show though.
What happened to Rita Repulsa? They ran out of Japanese Zyuranger Footage. They had to throw her English shadow double into a dumpster until they found a replacement that was as close to the Japanese face of Bandora that they could get. Then once they got their new actress so they could show her face again, Finster decided to give Rita an on screen facial makeover to get around the fresh look she would have in order to woe Lord Zed. Both Rita and Lord Zed became the main antagonists to the Power Rangers during season 3 while swapping over Kakuranger Footage and their own Power Rangers footage filmed at a nice viewing parkland. Then when Ohranger introduced the Machine Empire antagonists, Rita and Zed decided to become Grey Nomads for a while until they found a Bomb to deliver as the perfect congratulation present to their "friends". Then they almost got back until Carranger had a super sexy antagonist that was too sexy for the family friendly show that required a new American Actress to become a female pirate captain that somehow came from space. And then there was the Power Rangers in Space season that used footage from Megaranger and of course because there was no Bandora in Megaranger, there was no Rita or Zed in Space except in those Alliance of Evil scenes with all the past Antagonist Empires.
In Ryusolger special there is actually a character named Rita who is most likely a cameo to both Bandora (original japanese name for Rita Repulsa) and Rita Repulsa.
I now wonder where her brother Rito comes from, I don’t see him fleeing with Rita and Fienna. And if Fienna passed away, Rito can’t be her full brother. Or am I missing something?
My head cannon is that vile being her father was a lie that was told to her after a memory wipe spell. The truth is that she was the original green ranger hence her having the dragon coin. It also explains why she was "cleansed" instead of killed by the light wave and her strong connection to the morphing grid.
Rita called Jason, Zack, Billy, Trini, Kimberly, Tommy, Adam, Rocky, Aisha, and Kat all by their names instead of their Ranger color designations at times
Oh wow I never knew Rita came back as good let alone played such a seemingly important roll in helping the Rangers succeed, that's really cool. Wish i had been watching while that was going on but honestly i'm not exactly sure what season i stopped watching, i remember them being"in love" but i don't remember them being changed back to human, but i Do sorta remember Rita's dad being around. The last thing i kinda remember was some sorta aquatic alien ranger squad was around? I saw the first two movies but don't recall which one had Ivan Ooze🤷♂️ i'm all kinds of lost😅 but i still enjoy hearing about the Power Rangers. Hopefully i can piece together the timeline i remember and possibly do some catching up afterwards. i Just found out about\saw that dark Power Rangers short 15min live action video.... Yes! It's poetic that Zordon's greatest rival ended up following in his footsteps. And Zordon's greatest _pupil_ (Tommy), also did the same for the Dino Thunder Power Rangers.
You should do a vid on making your own roster of characters that would be in a PR game (Shattered Grid). The roster would be like 25-30 slots big but you can only choose up to 3 characters per season, ex: PRMM Jason - red, Tommy - Green, Rita. Drakkon and Ranger Slayer wouldn't count as any particular team or verse.
I was a HUGE Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fan as a kid, had a lot of their toys and rewatched the episodes countless of times, but unfortunately not sure why but I stopped after Zeo. I wish I stayed a fan but as time passed I grew the mentality of "oh, another power rangers? Geez theyre really milking it"... 25 years later and here I am watching clips and wondering what happened to my Power Rangers, the MMPR's I fell in love with as a kid. I kind of want to sit down and just watch them ALL.
No... Goldar gave him the antidote, but it was revealed Zedd actually REALLY loved Rita. He didn't care about the whole plot afterward, since he came to believe Rita was "the best thing that ever happened to him".

I can't believe that in the classics, this character was portrayed by three actresses.
I had skipped a lot of Ranger seasons and Mystic Force was one of them. Pretty cool to hear that she was the Zordon to that season of Rangers.
After hearing her voice at the beginning of the intro, coupled with that rocking tune, it is hard to forget

Rita was as comedic and funny as she was evil and I always loved her character for that.

My head canon: Rita (now known as Mystic Mother) knows about the existence of Robo-Rita (from Once and Always), the resurrection of Lord Zedd (from his evil essence) via Reaghoul from Dino Fury, and Zedd teaming up with Squid Ink, Inc. in Cosmic Fury. And she also knows about the Morphin’ Masters (my guess is that Zayto later gets to meet him so that both him and Mystic Mother can keep an eye on Zedd, who is now imprisoned in the planet Nibyro).
Rita looks like she'd belong in Final Fantasy 8. She's like a cross between the Wicked Witch of the West and Shredder from TMNT.

It would have been nice, if he was an archaeologist to have discovered a lost Power Ranger powers with Tommy and through then does the new team discover their powers, weapons and Zords, as each Ranger must prove their worth to gain their unique weapon and their Zord. A kind of one shot using a modified Dairangers team suit (to look different to The MMPR White Ranger)

The demons in Lightspeed were trapped with magic, so it must have cancelled the wave out as the seal on the tomb must have blocked the evil energies.
Master Orc was actually human who ate an evil seed, well the modern day one anyway, the orgs might have survived due to being turned to stone, which hid their evil energies, it's also possible that with orgs that are in a human disguise are able to hide their evil energies, as their horns must be the source of their evil energies.
Lothor was human and a trained ninja, his evil grew and was sent away, the monsters he found must have survived as, I assume, some kind of eggs in some special ancient place or waited in a with so much evil energy the Zordon wave was too weak to over come the evil coming from that planet.
If Eltar is the Ranger homeworld and a place of good then there has to be a place of evil that breeds monsters.
So logically some monsters survived by being too young to leave the planet at that time or are there in reserve waiting to be recruited by a boss matching their frequency that matches a Ranger's frequency, some returned to recharge their evil batteries and that's why some older monsters survived as well, while others survived by going into some some kind of suspended animation or being sealed away, so that hid their evil energies on other planets before the wave came.
Evil will always find a way to exist.

there's a theory that much of zordon's energy had been drained by dark specter already. so maybe with dark specter's death it was starting to return to him slowly. but he may have only had enough energy to wipe out the invading armies of rita repulsa, lord zedd, the machine empire, divatox, havoc, and astronema while turning a few good. even starting in galaxy we see reused monsters and footsoldiers like piranhatrons in onyx. if zordon's wave was supposed to take out all evil there wouldn't be a show after in space. no trakeena, demons, etc. also zedd did become an archeologist in the video game power rangers super legends but i don't think that counts as canon to the show though.

What happened to Rita Repulsa?
They ran out of Japanese Zyuranger Footage.
They had to throw her English shadow double into a dumpster until they found a replacement that was as close to the Japanese face of Bandora that they could get.
Then once they got their new actress so they could show her face again, Finster decided to give Rita an on screen facial makeover to get around the fresh look she would have in order to woe Lord Zed.
Both Rita and Lord Zed became the main antagonists to the Power Rangers during season 3 while swapping over Kakuranger Footage and their own Power Rangers footage filmed at a nice viewing parkland.
Then when Ohranger introduced the Machine Empire antagonists, Rita and Zed decided to become Grey Nomads for a while until they found a Bomb to deliver as the perfect congratulation present to their "friends".
Then they almost got back until Carranger had a super sexy antagonist that was too sexy for the family friendly show that required a new American Actress to become a female pirate captain that somehow came from space.
And then there was the Power Rangers in Space season that used footage from Megaranger and of course because there was no Bandora in Megaranger, there was no Rita or Zed in Space except in those Alliance of Evil scenes with all the past Antagonist Empires.
In Ryusolger special there is actually a character named Rita who is most likely a cameo to both Bandora (original japanese name for Rita Repulsa) and Rita Repulsa.

He's what you would call a half brother, Vile must have found another lover after Rita was born.
My head cannon is that vile being her father was a lie that was told to her after a memory wipe spell. The truth is that she was the original green ranger hence her having the dragon coin. It also explains why she was "cleansed" instead of killed by the light wave and her strong connection to the morphing grid.

I never knew Rita came back as good let alone played such a seemingly important roll in helping the Rangers succeed, that's really cool. Wish i had been watching while that was going on but honestly i'm not exactly sure what season i stopped watching, i remember them being"in love" but i don't remember them being changed back to human, but i Do sorta remember Rita's dad being around. The last thing i kinda remember was some sorta aquatic alien ranger squad was around? I saw the first two movies but don't recall which one had Ivan Ooze🤷♂️ i'm all kinds of lost😅 but i still enjoy hearing about the Power Rangers. Hopefully i can piece together the timeline i remember and possibly do some catching up afterwards.

Yes! It's poetic that Zordon's greatest rival ended up following in his footsteps. And Zordon's greatest _pupil_ (Tommy), also did the same for the Dino Thunder Power Rangers.
You should do a vid on making your own roster of characters that would be in a PR game (Shattered Grid). The roster would be like 25-30 slots big but you can only choose up to 3 characters per season, ex: PRMM Jason - red, Tommy - Green, Rita. Drakkon and Ranger Slayer wouldn't count as any particular team or verse.

I was a HUGE Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fan as a kid, had a lot of their toys and rewatched the episodes countless of times, but unfortunately not sure why but I stopped after Zeo. I wish I stayed a fan but as time passed I grew the mentality of "oh, another power rangers? Geez theyre really milking it"... 25 years later and here I am watching clips and wondering what happened to my Power Rangers, the MMPR's I fell in love with as a kid. I kind of want to sit down and just watch them ALL.

No... Goldar gave him the antidote, but it was revealed Zedd actually REALLY loved Rita. He didn't care about the whole plot afterward, since he came to believe Rita was "the best thing that ever happened to him".
@@rychadelko Ah, well that's kinda nice. I like when Power Rangers takes their villain characters and gives them a bit of humanity. Like when Bulk and Skull were running away from a monster and Skull tripped, so Bulk comes back and helps him up, risking his life for his buddy.

Rita is iconic and I like the clips from Zyurangers used in power rangers but I like the history of Bandora and how she became evil better.
