Meguiars no contest!! It may cost more but considering you can use the Clearcoat on at least 4 sets of headlights is cheap!! There is no point in double coating once is enough,😉🤔👍
Tell you what I used the newer version McGuires with 4 sanding discs and once I applied the seal coat wipe 3 applications in a straight line wipe allowing 3 minutes befor the new application and the headlights look factory new.
Just did mine today with Meguiars and it looks great, took about 30 minutes for both headlights. Took longer to tape off than actually scrubbing down and clearcoat spray my headlights.
Never used a headlight kit before.. Yesterday, I used 2500 wet sandpaper to remove the nasty film, applied Turtle Wax T-43 Headlight Cleaner & Protectant (polish) to a drill adapter foam pad (China knock-off) and worked the polish at low RPM until it looked like deli mustard (lol), wiped it off and reapplied a small amount at a higher speed to polish w/o sling. The lights came out amazing! Just reapply this Headlight cleaner/wax after a car wash and it should look great for months and possibly longer. *This car is 19 yrs old and derelict the past three years, its a project coming to an end (01 Ford Minivan).
I used a 3M kit on one car and initial results were really good. I sold the car a year after so I can't speak to longevity beyond that. On my current daily driver, I used a different (maybe lower model?) meguiars kit. Instead of a spray clear coat, it had a wipe on self leveling clear coat and a foam thing with hook and loop for the sanding discs. It's been doing well for two years now. The vehicle is out in a fully exposed parking lot 12 hours a day, five days a week and garaged at night. I'd do the meguiars kit again when I have to.
I think the turtle wax was better. I think it will win. The reason I think it will win is that I .Ike hands on small jobs like that as you can feel the lens as it smooths out. I also love the turtle wax product. I have tried lots of the others and keep going back to turtle. Plus reasonable! Thanks for comparison.
I didn’t use the turtle product like this at all I did it very sloppy and didn’t follow the directions the sandpaper is to small and it did clear up my headlight assembly and for $10 they make my headlight look brand new. The way I did it was to put the compound first I didn’t even buff it in good i then sprayed the lubricant on pad #1 then dried it with the towel then pad #2 on one headlight then dried it and on the second headlight I did same thing but with pad #3 and #4 then the base wipe on both didn’t even let it dry then quickly put the sealing wipe on both like I said very sloppy job but surprisingly they still turned out very clear
The Turtle Wax process seems to be designed to actually remove the oxidation, rather than simply adding a clear coat. Turtle Wax gets the win for the effort to correct the basic problem.
@@BlockchainDaddy Just buy 600, 1000, 2000 grit sandpaper, 2k clear coat in a spray can and some rubbing alcohol That is the proper way, and probably cheaper than any kit, even Turtle's.

Jimbo, I made my own service kit for headlights with a Meguirs wet sanding sponge, 2000 sandpaper, a drill adapter foam polishing sponge (the cheap knokoff stuff from China), leveling compound for 2000 scratch removal, Turtle Wax T43 headlight cleaner/polish/sealant.. If the lights are all jacked up, sand with 2K until smooth, buff to clarity with fine compound, finish with headlight polish.. Looks amazing.. After a year, the lights look hazy, just buff with the cleaner, takes 10 min for two applications on each light.
1 minute in opposite direction lol. I bought the Mequiars and did 6 vehicle with it. I used their plastic polish before the spray top coat. Last vehicle I did I applied Seal and Shine the next day after Top Coat. Great value for the money and I still have plenty of the polishing compound left.
I think you should have used a little paper with tape on the Meguiar's headlight coating spray side to protect against over spray. Are you going to do an update video??? I just made a video "Meguiar's headlight coating spray".
I used the Turtle Wax on my Caravan. I was quite surprised how well it worked. After seven months there was some slight clouding beginning to appear. I got rid of it around then, so I don't know how fast it would fully cloud over.
i used Meguiar's 2 step on my 2003 Honda Pilot about 3 years ago. The headlights look good if not great still after all this time. I do keep my vehicle garaged however, but it definitely gets driven as I've got 215K on it. I am doing my 2004 Acura at the moment with the left over stuff and expecting similar success. I put more time by hand into the Step 1 than what you see here in the video. I've only tried the Meguiar's but happy with the long term results.

That meguiars spray, when it says wet coat make sure you do a wet coat. I put on my brand-spanking-new headlights and I didn't do it quite thick enough so now there's a haze that I've got a polish off, and start again.
Not to nitpick, but i got both the TW and the Meguiar's, and was reading along with the instructions. Both say that when switching from one sanding pad to the next, you're supposed to switch directions, alternating between side-to-side and up and down. Might have gotten even better results. That reason is to remove the edges in the scratches created by the previous pad. Going against the grain will pull more material ultimately creating a smoother product.

As light shines in a cross hatch pattern. I have used both. And found the turtle wax kit as you get what you pay for. And McGuire if used right will last and can actually do a few headlights. I have 3 cars and did them all with one kit of the middle box the first time. And ended up going with the yellow box recently. Like I said I appreciate the content and what you were trying to do but the results wont be fair to the product if you don't follow the steps as the company states

I tried both and I prefer turtle wax. I like how the meguairs leaves more of a newer look but every time I sprayed it, it starts to run off and just ruins it. I even tried misting it softer and still was runny
I guess it just depends on how you spray it, I used Meguiars and had no running or misting whatsoever. Next time I will try Turtle wax to see if it works just as good but for a cheaper price.
I like meguiars I actually just buy the spray coating from meguiars and buy a sandpaper and that gives me the best results at the cheapest price and with better results

In my opinion bang for my buck the turtle wax but I think the meguiars durability will be better even tho both look good awesome video jimbo yet again
I like meguiars I actually just buy the spray coating from meguiars and buy a sandpaper and that gives me the best results at the cheapest price and with better results
2 years later I’m still waiting for results lol 😂
Can I use this on my face?
You never showed after pictures. Side by side would have been the best. So how did the results compare?
Turtle wax is the winner. Don’t want to spray clear.
1 year later what's the results I don't have the car so idk 😶
best way to restore is just to hit the light cover with compound and polish, then seal... the kits are just ok
I like to WORK SMART, NOT HARD (and frugal)! 👅You can purchase a jar/tub of Turtle Wax compound, (for around $8 in Canada).
I used my electric drill with a sponge mechanism on the end. OMG, I was done in less than a half-hour!
Oh so clear, shiny ad bright! 💎
Be sure and wash the headlights, before you apply the compound. to get rid of all the dust and dirt, so that it does not get sanded it into the plastic of the headlights.
Before and after?
it is now 2022.
the Meguiars version is only sale right now, only $65, down from $80.
This guy has a problem with rinsing off after each sanding, any kind of spray needs to be wiped down with alcohol before spraying.
