- Worms are probably the most commonly occurring parasite in pig breeds, so it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the signs and symptoms, as well as the dangers and treatments.
And as always, you can find out more at www.RaisingKuneKunes.com
Yep, you're absolutely correct, KP. I've wormed my kune-kune pigs using an Ivermectin dewormer paste. I gave a good dose of paste tucked/stuffed inside a sweet cinnamon bun. After ingestion, it did not take long before worms were sprawled throughout the pig's dump area. Once worms are discarded, the pigs are as frisky as ever, eating like pigs, and gaining weight. One time, a five month old piglet showed signs of being lathargic so I paid close attention to her as well as her sibling piglets for signs of worms or anything else out of the ordinary. Thanks much for the informative video. 👍🏽🤠 12/26/22
Love the vids I will definitely getting kunekune in the future
Thank you so much! And you'll love the kunekunes, I'm sure of it! I hope we can be the ones to provide you with your kunekunes!
could you do a vid on how fat should a kunekune be?
Do you know if chickens can eat the dead worms to sorta "clean up"? Or do you just leave the expelled stuff to decompose?
Eta: I'm a new Kune owner. Our Male is soooooo sweet and loves belly rubs. Our girl will tolerate a couple of rubs but turns into a bucking bronco when we touch both her sides, at once. She's also a "screamer" when it comes to being fed. Lol
As a precaution, if you have the ability to remove the worms, its probably better to be "safe than sorry" on this. But if your kunekunes are out in open pasture, you'll likely not ever find the discarded worms. I dont actually know the safety of digesting them for chickens, but we've never had a problem with them, and have only ever sparingly actually found the discarded worms.
