  • I've been obsessed with playing this on dulcimer since I first heard it, by the incredible Brandi Carlile but with my own Joni-influenced twists. ;)
Thank you, Brandi, and Joni for being such a part of my inner poetic life.

That's awesome! I simply used a few of the shapes and chords that I know and then followed the melody line on the middle string. What's your favorite Joni song? Brandi song? 😄

Do you play any fingerstyle dulcimer? Funny you mention digging Cat Stevens in addition to Joni. Cat was my greatest inspiration to learn acoustic guitar, and Joni (after David Massengill) was a big inspiration to learn Mt./Appalachian Dulcimer, and I've been planning to post a (fingerstyle) cover of Cat's MOONSHADOW soon on Dulcimer.
I posted a funky dulcimer version of Blondie's Heart of Glass, but it ain't a 'guy' song, so if you ever want to cross-country collaborate w/ a video, YOUR voice would be much more fitting!

Thanks for watching, Mark! That's kind of you. I would love to hear your finger style version of "Moonshadow" especially since that's the namesake of my family music company (commenting from that channel here). May you be well and I look forward to listening. 🙏🏻😁

@@SingwithTeacherBrittany I liked and subscribe to you, not sure if that will give you notification or if you need to do same, but I will try to post moon shadow this week. Wish they sold dulcimer's close to me, but it's not very common up in the upper peninsula of Michigan. I've built three of them, one is not complete yet, but none of them have the sound I'm looking for yet.

@@musicbymark Well thank you so much for subscribing, Mark. That is awesome that you build your own dulcimers, I like the circles on yours. My favorites have birds or moons shapes as the sound holes. I hope you find the sound you are looking for and keep picking away!
