  • A few weeks later than its expected debut, this is ‘the new sound desk’, freed up by the handing back of the working from home kit. The new case (9U 84hp) is by no means settled- there will be a 296t in due course, and I’m pondering another 258t dual oscillator. That, plus the necessary utilities and the 6hp FX Aid, will likely fill it. In order not to have to constantly be unplugging stuff I’ve got a new pair of Presonus Eris speakers, but I had figured I wouldn’t need another interface because I had a couple of built-like-a-tank Steinberg jobs lying around…
Wrong. Both Steinbergs are 4-in, 2-out, which under normal circumstances is just fine- but if you want to video stuff you need a 4-out interface: two speakers, and lines out to (in my case) the Go Mixer. The cheap and cheerful Zoom u-24 does that just fine, but the only way to get the Go Mixer to work with either Steinberg would be to monitor over headphones only, and I don’t like to do that. Fortunately the Zooms are cheap as chips, and in stock at Thomann, so within the week I should have the two separate systems up and running as I want. The tape and microsound case will then sit with the 12U 104hp rack, and the Buchla set-up will ‘host’ the Syntrx II.
Anyway- this piece is an evolving eight-note sequence from Marbles, FM’d by a fixed twenty-note sequence from the 245t, tape delay courtesy of the Magneto (I’m not yet convinced; perhaps I should rtfm). Interface is the lone Zoom, which will now have to be lovingly detached if I want to use the other system any time soon. Sigh…
Like and subscribe, good people, spread the word and wrap up warm. There will be more of this nonsense when my health improves, which cannot come soon enough tbh.
    Thanks for watching!
