I remember my brother Roy singing this at a concert in 1952. He has gone to be with the Lord now but I will never forget him and his beautiful voice. He sang all his life. Memories are made of this.
I sang this solo on the eve i turned 9 in a concert with our boys choir in the Netherlands. Now I'm almost 25 years with the same choir and with no intention to leave 😊
@@jesse6468 Dat was het Roder jongenskoor inderdaad, wat leuk zeg oud zangers tegen te komen. Voel je vrij om je een keer aan te sluiten, for old time sake.
The 1927 Temple Church Choir, London Recording with Ernest Lough. It is the prime example piece. I hope you found that version, because if this already was a month ago you probably have sung it already. God Bless you and hopefully all went well.
As a Jew I sometimes get jealous of Catholic music because this makes me cry.😢😢 I know Mendelssohn was a Jew before he converted to Protestant at age 7
Your emotional response to this music is of course something that is shared by so many - and I know you're likely being a bit tongue in cheek, but why jealous? I know you know this, but this text is based in the Psalms (Ps. 55) and therefore every bit as expressive of Jewish spirituality as anything else. I'm a Christian church musician (Catholic to be precise) but as a professional singer I sang in Temple/Synagogue for almost two decades when I was younger, and I absolutely loved the music. It's a cliché, but music is universal and surely one of the most powerful means we have to access the Divine!
And yet, there was more. For in this crisp time when autumn begins to fade, the chef brings chicken in habanero, and even adds habanero powder to the crust. But the heat is restrained. You experience the fruity, delicious flavor of this without any spicy pain. I don't need any more pain. Hell, does anyone? In finality, I will say that my experience at Applebee's was sublime and my treatment near that of a gladiator most decorated. But the street parking wasn't that great. Two and a half stars. - Gerald Broflovski

@degroot9914 Welk koor was dat? Ik was jongenssopraan bij het Roder Jongenskoor en ben nu 27.

I sang this in a concert for the Newcastle Festival of Music 2023. It's nice to be able to listen and sing along to this.
Wow!
“O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.” Psalms 95:6
Awesome! 🕊️
Love the chorus' galliard-like entrance, properly timed and styled to contrast with the lyrical sections.

One of the ayatollahs favourites.
I have to learn this solo. I have the music. Can anyone recommend a good version to listen to?

@@lordjesuschristhavemercyon3251 I agree absolutely! I was about to say exactly the same. Ernest Lough under Thalben-Ball. (love your name btw).
