LSX Sloppy Stage 2 Cam and Spring Install

I have had these parts on the shelf waiting for this install for over a year. Finally I had the opportunity to dig into this LS motor hoping for a smooth install. Unfortunately, the further I dig into this motor, the more I find how not well maintained this was. Hoping to do just a quick cam install while keeping the heads in place quickly turned into a bigger project. As you all know, it is time to get this thing running.
So I pull the cam and find the horrible lobe wear caused from the worn lifters which means the heads need to come off for the lifters to be replaced. So further into the rabbit hole we go.
I went with the PAC springs because they can reuse the original spring hats, seals and retainers.
Also at this point, I'm thinking a oil pump is necessary as well as the trunnion upgrade kit ( I was going to do this after I got the car going). Please let me know what else I should do while I am in here.
As far as lifters replacements go, I was thinking of using GM replacement LS7 lifters or Morel lifters. Please let me know your thoughts.

be cool if they made a 4/7 cam swap for the LS
That would be cool! I am curious as to why no company offers one.
I would definitely be changing thosee lifters. Its worth doing as much as possible while you have it out the car to make sure its going to be a solid engine.
Side note, any stickers left? Would love one in my workshop.

I noticed when your spraying it looked like you didnt always release the trigger when changing direction. It can end up giving you a line of heavier paint.
Engine bays are hard to paint anyway you got a damn good finish there. 👍
Hey I’m looking to do a cam swap where can I get them sticks
I got them sticks at ACE Hardware. You can get them at a Lowes or Home Depot as well. This makes it simple. Unfortunately for me I had to take the heads off due to needing new lifters. But this method certainly worked.
Sorry for late comment. just watch this. If not already addressed the lifters need to be swapped. That scoring on the lobes is bad. Also it's cheap insurance to go ahead and replace the oil pump for a Melling 10295. You remember how the oil pan looked, the pump can't be any prettier.
Thanks for the advice! I have not done anything with the motor since. I am waiting on $$ for the new lifters, trays and oil pump. I got held up with paying for two sets of kids braces unfortunately. I am afraid to dig into this thing any further in fear of finding more wear and neglect.
Absolutely replace those lifters any time you put a new camshaft in I would do it just for safety sake
@@trentdemoss2218 Thanks! I was just trying to be cheap and get the thing started quicker. Oh well.. I did the right thing and replaced them. Only two were boogered up.
