This OLED Broke Me - Spectrum Black 27 Gorilla Glass Review
Today I have a very special OLED monitor I’ve been waiting a long time to review, because this display could change the way we look at monitors forever, and it’s broken me. I can’t look at regular monitors again. I'm talking about the Dough Spectrum Black 27 240Hz MLA WOLED monitor.

The QD OLED "black image" or basically pure black colors become much lighter when the monitor is being lit up by lightning in the room or just by any ambient lightning, though WOLED does not care at the same time. A lot of reviews show also that WOLEDs are a bit brighter, (im talking about gaming monitors), even tho it is stated overwise on the internet. Maybe i dont know something? Can you elaborate on why do you think QD is better than WOLED, because im not someone who knows a lot about them, im just making this statement after couple reviews/tests i saw on the internet.

Does the BFI mode support HDR? I ask because you can overcome some of the brightness limitations of BFI with a displayscaler like the retrotink 4k in HDR mode. The LG C1 supports this but Asus OLEDs dont :(

Well another reason to never again buy from a chinese company. But they even disguised that. It's scam country by this point. A business like this is state sanctioned over there.

If I plan to use this monitor in SDR mode only, and have no intentions of using HDR, are the colors at high brightness going to affect me much? Or the inaccurate colors at high brightness are only related to HDR content, and I would be just fine keeping it at SDR?

Spectrum black compatible with PS5 ?
I still play a lot of games on PS5 mainly FPS Battlefield 5 and 2042 with my friends.
    Of course also on PC.
Battlefield runs at 60Hz on PS5. The motion blur is very high.
I currently have the Alienware AW3225QF. I can live with it.
Is it then a step backwards with 27"?
Do you think WQHD 27" looks worse than 4K 32" in terms of sharpness?
How will the brightness of the Spectrum Black 32" be? Same as the 27" ?

Display Guy, I would like to know how are the OLED care features when you get the review sample with the coating fixed. I hope they aren't buggy or something since for me that's one of the most important things on an OLED. I'm really waiting on the 32 inch 4k. I spoke with Migelangelo from dough on reddit asking that they should take a look at implementing extra OLED Care features like MSI on their OLEDs. For what he responded they bought an MSI sample to analize it so theres only hope 🤞. I also asked if they would release the monitor on major US retailers and he confirmed that yes, they would. I hope it realeases on best buy for that coating and being WOLED has me for that monitor.😁

Interesting to find Samsung G8 OLED in your list, and also interesting that ASUS AQDM 27" is missing. I have both, and I borderline hate the AQDM. Maybe I can tweak it to be better, but something about it just feels off - may be the matt coating combined with poor HDR. I'm planning on moving to another country now and may bring the 27" in my luggage... sure beats nothing, and I wasn't particularly unhappy with it, until the Samsung G8 34" OLED arrived.

Did you say that stand was optional at $100. Looks flimsy as hell and like the monitor would wobble every time you used the on-screen menu which you did not show.
Never heard of this manufacturer before but like most of the OLED and QD-OLEDs released in 2023 and so far in 2024 they are all offering pretty much the same thing since they are using the same two panel types with different pros and cons, including coatings, features and pricing (which obviously effects value for money). I doubt anyone would be disappointed with any of them personally, as a very happy owner of an Alienware AW2725DF, especially if they are coming from an IPS panel like I did where the IPS glow and low contrast were perhaps its greatest weakness. I don't even mind the purple cast to the screen during the day when the screen is off as it is not really visible during actual use and I'd take that, some slightly elevated blacks with perfect viewing angles, fantastic screen uniformity and rich colours over IPS glow any day.

The reason you see grain is that they literally put a glossy gorilla glass layer over the normal matte coating of the panel. I've read it somewhere in their website or YT comments a while ago, they said it gets the advantages of both glossy and matte but I really doubt that.
You're just that biased towards the glossy look that it feels better to you even when it's just an outer shell, I feel this is more of a Placebo effect than anything. However I think this placebo effect would work on most people since in most displays they've seen glossy ones are premium (TVs, macbooks, phones...) and matte are budget (gaming monitors, old cars infotainment...).

Honestly I’m kinda sick of OLEDs. We’ve gotten used to talking about brightness windows, but it’s still annoying. It’s very noticeable to me when OLEDs dim themselves to show bright scenes. Bring on MicroLED or super high density Mini LEDs. Full screen max brightness and no burn in

Please stop advertising them. Still owe me the NORMAL glossy 4k and I was part of the 1st preorder group. It's now less than I paid during the preorder, and still have no shipping in sight. They are scum of the earth and still owe many refunds or products like me. TO ANYONE WHO DID PREORDER, DO NOT ASK FOR A REFUND.

People really have overreacted to the early problems this company had. They were a brand new company, challenging major corporations in a market that hasn't had any real competitors for a decade.
They managed to build, ship and support first in class tech while also getting all the back end logistics stuff in place.
Yeah, they didn't immediately have all their warranty and customer service stuff in place, but what do people expect? Go with a big name brand if that's what you're worried about.
