Anchors are great! I use one in a 4-3-3 with Lyon, bought Morten Hjulmand from Lecce for the role with my Lyon team. the role uses their cover shadow against a lone striker really well, from what I have found. He also shifts from the left half-space to the right half-space and back if the opposition defenders are playing the ball around the back, and is really good at blocking diagonal passes from the wing to the striker because of his cover shadow. Facing two up front, my Anchor tends to stay in front of the deeper striker, blocking central progression into the opposition's attacking midfield and letting my two centre-backs deal with the main striker.
Nice explanation 🫡
Nice video mate. I love the anchor and I always use the role now. Because after I switched the DM from DM (defend) to anchor then immediately both my defence and attack became significantly improved. It's a very solid role. In defence he's focusing on filling the holes and making the defence compact. In possession it gives the freedom to the attacking players to go forward because of he's deep position. It is also a great help when you are in the final third, because of it's deep position, so it's often playable and a great help for retaining possession. So it is the biggest key role in my system.
Think I'll use it more for the reasons you talk about
@@StingerNeilD Nice to hear. I also ensure that the player has more direct passing PI and decent passing and vision. In that way he also become some kind of a deep lying playmaker in possession. Then he absolutely excels. Also give that a thought.
Anchor was a key role for me in my FM23 Leipzig team. Really underused role
Very good content. Please make more of these types of videos. Thank you
There are some more in the guides playlist 🫡
One of my favourite roles. Always use them.
I use them a lot more now 🫡
Thanks for the video man, can you make a video on how regista/roaming playmaker can benefit from having an anchor?
I think the Anchor video shows that man. He'll be free to roam safe in the knowledge the Anchor has the defence side covered
In the same formation shown in the first few seconds… all you need is a roaming midfielder and deep playing midfielder. Play with two wingbacks, and inverted wingers and you’re good. Ideally you want one big targetman and one fast advance forward/poacher.. or just two complete forwards. Play a high line, tikitaka playstyle with creative freedom and you’d have an entertaining, high octane games. Only CBs and GK are set to defensive. Midfielders are supportive. The rest should be on attack.
Whenever I play an Anchor man I always change their name to Ron Burgundy. No exceptions.
Quite rightly too
Anchor died when they brought the half back in
Love half back, different roles though but agreed most people will opt for that
So on fm 24 would the Half back be better suited than an anchor when behind two CMs on attack in a 433 shape?
@@coldlarva7819 I personally wouldn’t run two CM-A because of the imbalance. I prefer to have a creator, a runner and a defender - I won’t go into it now but to answer your question go with an Anchor.
@@by__elijah thanks a lot man
Depends. The half back easily gives your team a shape of 3-2-5 given your fullbacks are pushing up and the wingers tuck in. It's a good roles dictates the shape of a team. J can't give you an opinion on the Anchor man I've fairly use it. @@coldlarva7819
what kind off role would suit martin zubimendi
He could pretty much do any DM role or CM role other than maybe Reg or AP due to a lack of Flair. Great player though
Could you see two anchors ever being effective
Never say never but I can't see me tying it
