Again Peter thanks again, for the updates, Corruption and greed at play again .where does it end when you see so many Irish people homeless. And what the Council could do with all of these empty places. Keep us all in your updates God bless 🙌 🙏 ✨️
Thank you Peter for more great research and information.. Typical of this two faced government we have at present 🤬🤬. Stay safe my friend 🙏🙏.!!!! Herb ☘️🇮🇪👏
You are spot on there Peter. The whole place was destroyed and derelicted by the owners. It used to be a thriving asset to the whole area. We are ruled by malignant twisted people
Peter, what an absolute eyesore and misuse of a potential site for new retail and or housing. Keep the informative and engaging content going. Much needed and appreciated.
That old Dunnes was gas, it was like an museum of a Dunnes with grocery split into 3-4 small units 😅 at least when Tesco gave up on their store Dunnes ran straight into it. The Dunnes family dynasty have loads of abandoned properties around Ireland. They had a excellent growth strategy in the 60’s and 70’s to buy up small scale old family businesses which were out of fashion and lacked investment and foresight. A lot of these businesses had owned building assets, which they only started shifting recently but some of the locations where never Dunnes Stores or were but closed down years ago, when better retail options became a viable option.
I used to love that shopping centre and the gym & swimming. It's an eyesore now but I've wondered why nothing is happening with it so thanks Peter. It's disgraceful to think it's another year of been like that.
It was a great spot, every unit occupied and wide variety of shops. Speaking of the Sunshine Estate, I have great memories of a huge video rental shop there, think it was called "Video Channel". It had to be one of the largest in the city. Potters snooker hall was underneath it. Closed in mid-90s and is office space now. Do you remember that at all?
@@hector-sauvage No I was well before that early 80's. I was at the printing trade in a small printers there, Classic Stationery. The big thing there was O'Meara's Camping and Shines pork butchers had a factory shop bedside us. We had great nights in the Gate across the road. Forget the family who owned it, one of the daughters was an actress, do you remember.
@@raymonddixon7603 Would have been a bit before my time, but O'Meara's Camping is still there.. Think the Gate was owned by the Dillon family, for most of the time anyway. They removed the big clock from the outside when they got into financial trouble haha..
@@hector-sauvage Hector it came to me about the previous owners were before the Dillons. It was the Doody family they were well known publicans back then. Alison Doody, a daughter was an actress and a Bond girl. It was all the talk in Crumlin at the time.
Used to go into that Shopping Center Every Sunday in the Late 90's With my Mother for the Weekly Food Shop in Dunnes so i could get my Lunch for the week ahead. ^ My Old School up the Road 🤗👍 St Kevins Clogher Road.
Hopefully redevelopment can start as soon as possible and create new construction jobs and in new reatail local councillers are rubbish when it comes to the local community it would be good if you could visit ballymun where the old ballymun shopping center was demolished to make way for a new shopping complex but decades later after ballymun shopping center was shut down nothing has been put in place theirs no heart and soul in the center of ballymun like crumlin no facilithys and a huge empty feel in ballymun you caint even buy a pair of socks in ballymun but also ballymuns super valu store was also shut down both commuintys in crumlin and ballymun have time and time again been let down by local goverment elected councillers and its a discrace and a crying shame these communities are always suffering😢😮😢😮
It's a big club and you ain't in it,...G Carlin. Speculators and developers come 1st in Ireland. Our obsession with land and ownership is a truly poisonous chalice left by the British. People in Ireland simply want a roof above their head, not own tracts of land and profit from it at the expense of the rest...that concept is alien to us...hence why these mates inside government have no allegiance to the country, or the people.
Your wrong on a lot of counts the staff of Dunnes are working in a ram shackle make do of a grocery shop a number of years located in a make do hovel the last shop to leave the main building was Tesco telling the locals it would become the state of the art shopping centre with apartments didn’t happen blamed on a number of make do excuses the jym sauna/sports is closed long before the shopping centre started to close the smaller shops the destruction of this vital amenity was allowed for a number of reasons putting planning permission up a few months ago by Margaret heffernan now the got another year they don’t have to build anything thanks to jack chamber Let’s call a spade a spade let’s not beat about the bush

I had my first job at Quinnsworth in the shopping centre in 1984. It was extremely lively and well used

Corruption at the high level.
Well said and well presented Pete. From Ray Stoneybatter. Fond memories of the SC when I worked in the Sunshine Ind. Est.

St Kevins Clogher Road.
I recall when it opened - sad to see it fell into such state of disrepair.

The first thing that building top brass do is suck upto businesses and clubs and throw them donations so there won’t be objections from them..
