    Here is Hiromi's part translation. (my poor english tho)
    0:39 When we met 10 years ago, I was too excited to remember anything, but this time I want to enjoy every note of him.
    8:32 Mutual trust comes out in the sound. Each sound is a treasure and every moment is happiness for me.

    This is one of those, “The rules come from works of art” moments. Somewhere out there, people are studying this, trying to catalog it, and creating guidelines for those of us who might want to have a go at it but can’t do it on the fly. Amazing artists, these two.

    Music is fleeting and ephemeral by nature. For all my discomfort with technology I’m deeply grateful that it’s been the key to capturing music’s moments to document, archive and bring delightful joy to the world who wants to listen just one more time to sounds that erupted in the distant corners of time and space on this planet.

    and I'm more or less unspeakably grinning from ear to with tears of joy rolling
    every time I hear Hiromi play ...
    w/ tongue coyly in cheek I'll note that Chick is pretty good too, & trust all here will
    see that for the jokingly huge understatement it is
    I noticed while reading here what I've noticed at times elsewhere;
    some artists emit so much talent+kindness their pages remain troll free
    after watching this twice thru the thought comes to mind that a person living
    this joyfully with this much intelligence & the dietary wisdom of Japan seems likely to
    live to be 130 or 140, w/o starting to lose her chops until her age reaches 3 digits

    They interact perfectly together. In 15:24 Hiromi deliberately plays a note "out of scales" several times. Chick responds and continues this note. This is unique and only possible in jazz. They play on a form, but cannot be restricted in their musical freedom. As a Greek philosopher said: "Art is freedom in form". It is precisely this deliberately "wrong note" from Hiromi that makes art.

    Sie interagieren perfekt zusammen. In 15:24 spielt Hiromi ganz bewusst mehrmals eine Note "out of Scales". Chick geht darauf ein und führt diese Note weiter. Das ist einzigartig und nur im Jazz möglich. Sie spielen über eine Form, lassen sich aber nicht ihrer musikalischen Freiheit beschränken. Wie sagte schon ein griechischer Philosoph: "Kunst ist die Freiheit in der Form". Und gerade diese bewusst "falsche Note" von Hiromi macht die Kunst aus.

    Maurice Ravel would have adored this collaboration. I can just see him tapping his feet. He loved Gershwin too.

      @@mikesierra8156 I have seen it and love it! Thanks for your suggestion. As you know, it was a very jazzy work, with a lot of humor and beauty, like Yuja herself.
