I'll only buy this thing once the new AC game comes out. I hope we'll get it soon, I'm excited! Switch 2 looks nice and sleek. I hope it comes in white too or have an animal crossing version like last time, that'd be cute
Realistically it will probably be another 3-4 years unless they decide to launch with a new game which seems unlikely. I’m hoping NH will still work on the switch 2 though so I can have 2 islands lol Sorry I wrote this before watching the video and realized he also talked about everything I said
yea new horizons was probably one of the most succesfull animal crossing games so it would be stupid of them to not make a new one. i just hope they make it just as good as horizons or maybe even better instead of making a cashgrab
@@mrblack332 i think they need to bring back a lot of the older features/vibes of animal crossing specifically a lot more shops and the personalities of the villagers and a lot of people were really mad about no minigames/activities
They have historically not put their releases into “where the popularity is” lol acnh had so much success and stopped updating the game only a year into it being out but they were still releasing updates on games like super smash bros or splatoon years later. Idk it’s just hard to know where their head is at
There's no way they WON'T have a new Animal Crossing. It was a MASSIVE system seller last gen. They'd be absolutely stupid not to do it again. They want to sell as many of these as possible and AC will do just that
I am PRAYING switch 2 has that old Nintendo charm back within both the console designs and games. I like what you said about how new horizons was made from scratch I really hope this means new horizons will be packed with content because in any other animal crossing game for me new leaf I still have the same town since 2015 and every time I play I can almost always find something new or exciting that I can say oh neat where with new horizons you run out of stuff to do so quick because there is a lack of content
Either Animal Crossing 6 comes out first or Splatoon 4. If the former, we expand on what New Horizons began, into new worlds, new directions, breaking the limitations of how we build our happy home community.
I doubt Splatoon 4 will be a launch title since Splatoon 3 ended back in september and still has 2 extra splatfests planned out for it! But who knows! Either way, I think Animal Crossing will be there day one almost guaranteed. New Horizons simply sold too well
Lol I'm gonna move my oled island onto my 2 because I'm trying to have a FULL island and make a new one on my oled bc mannn is it starting to run like shit with all of my items
i definitely appreciate that they haven't changed the console all that much, just tweaked a few things to make it more functional/convenient, etc. the switch is already a near flawless console imo, and definitely my favorite even though i've only had one for about a year. but i will say i'm a little wary of the magnetic joycons. aside from being oddly attached to the sound it makes when you slide them in/out and the little click when it's secured and how much i'll miss it, i do have some concerns about magnetic controllers staying in if you drop the console or even if you just move it too quickly. maybe it still has some kind of latch i'm missing, because it looks like there are still buttons you have to press to take the joycons out, in which case that would ease my concern a bit. idk about the size either... i think the bigger screen will be nice, but the switch's current size is so great for travel because it's very compact without giving up anything. i guess i'll just have to wait and see how i feel. i'll probably still get it, but like most others i think i'll wait until a new animal crossing comes out to buy one. i did just buy my oled last year. i really don't need a new one this soon.
1:07 I’m not thrilled about the handheld console part being bigger, since I have dwarfism and my hands are very small, but I’m guessing some of that was unavoidable because of the hardware improvements. I’m probably gonna wait until this summer to buy it, just to see others opinions, and to treat myself with a new console after doing a one-year certificate at a college nearby :3
Congratulations on your 1 yr certificate from college. I so understand , even though I don't have dwarfism I am very vision impaired, I was born at 24 weeks years ago so have smaller hands and am not so thrilled also at the larger size either. But am thrilled about the new system, as my Switchlite is starting to show its age. I am sure we will both find a workaround in our own way like we always do.
I worry about it being bigger too because I have arthritis in my hands and my hands can’t hold big and heavy stuff anymore. But we’ll see. I guess I need to start saving my money.
i feel for you, theres definitely going to be accessibility challenges when it comes to making a bigger console. but i am hopeful that 3rd party company's will make some good joycons that are designed smaller
hoping the next animal crossing game has the city again, missing features left out from NL, and Pocket Camp type items and (free) events! big ask… but they already accomplished so much with NH that I have faith lol
When I first heard about NH I wasn't really feeling like getting it, I knew I'll probably end up forgetting about my older towns (NL and CF). But what really sold NH to me was the fact that I could build and place things outside freely, which was something I thought we could do in NL since I've seen screenshots of people with benches and other things outside, or even in the box art, but I was disappointed to know we couldn't. I got NH, I loved it, but they were lacking in a lot of content, like some highly requested fixes to inconveniences that never came to be (Bulk crafting or having only one island). And personally, there's also a lot of classic/legacy features that gave the games their personality, like NPCs, music (Animal Forest is so funky!) in NL you could change some building exteriors. I'm kind of getting the same feeling again, I'll probably stay in NH until I see a more "complete" or "definite" version, it was kinda fixed with 2.0 but man.. When the Easter update came, I thought we'd get a 3.0 or even 4.0. I know Nintendo can't really drop frequent updates if it's a one time purchase but that could've been easily fixed with more DLCs, which I also really wished for when HHA dropped. Anyone else feels like waiting for the next two or three generations of Animal Crossing to pass? I feel kinda lonely lol.
I'm pretty sure the "certain games" their talking about are probably indie games that got late switch ports that may not get immediate compatibility with the switch 2
Bob’s Gang! I already confused my local electronics shop by asking them if they have any news on when preorders open up. I will buy day one, though I do need to hear about the compatibility thing they spoke about. I have a pretty massive Switch library! It honestly has everything I hoped for - docked and handheld play, more power by the looks of things and backwards compatibility. I am pretty excited to be honest.
When Nintendo left Tortimer island and all of its multi-player features out of Animal Crossing New Horizons, they provoked my bull! And *they'll get the horns if they make that mistake again with the next Animal Crossing game!*
I like the idea of the magnetic joycons. Not to long ago I gave mine to my brother for a party and he exidently swiped them from the bottom into the joycon-doc and my dad had troble to get them of for me. So big plus
Wonder if they'll let you choose your own setting for this new animal crossing game. Maybe we want to relive the early game with a simple valley set up. Or like some cities? The island will always be nice. I wish to see my trains again.. And nookway
that bit about not all games being supported is probably about the features that didnt make it to the new console. mainly the IR sensor on the right joycon. it also likely includes games that had specialty peripherals that are unique to the first switch. (labo and others)
I doubt we'll get a new AC soon and I think it might take a couple of more years. NH is one of their best selling games and keeps selling well, which makes me think that they don't see the rush to come out with a new one because of it. Also, games take years to develop, so I doubt they started working on a new one years after NH came out, especially since they still updated the game for a bit before they stopped with the updates. It's also worth mentioning that NH was such a jump from NL in terms of graphics and features (especially terraforming) which also probably took longer to develop and I'm sure the next game will thus take a bit longer as well.
Actually, New Horizons sales have dropped a lot now. It should also be considered that they started developing New Horizons right as New Leaf came out, and that game had updates too. It’s definitely coming sooner than later.
The one new thing I hope they do when they reveal a new animal crossing is let our characters drive the vehicle and the new animal crossing game and maybe add a couple of new shops then able sister and Tim & Tommy nook shop .
The games that are compatible are games that use the IR blaster from the right joy con like some parts of ring fit, some parts of 1-2 switch, and Nintendo labo.
As long as the next AC game is 60 fps with minimal frame drops, I really won't mind. I would love it if NH ran better on the new console. *Frame drops being near non-existent on islands that aren't city scape would be really nice*
i think its gonna be compatible with acnh becauseon the villager arriving screen, we see the 3 plates [Dal] [Name] [Town]; So maybe for the new title the villagers of that game are gonna use a similar service as to dal something like (hra), so that when new vilalgers go to old towns on acnh they are gonna see the new company instead of dal! Thats just my idea tho
Im honestly not sure if they will make a completely new AC game, I would like to think they are going to find a way to fuse pocket camp complete and ACNH. I think pocket camp was our "every 5 years" release, it just came early. What they SHOULD do is give us more shops, more events, and an updated patch with items available in pocket camp complete. (Oh. And to not have to sit 40 years at treasure islands or a friends island when someone comes or leaves lol.)
Pocket Camp definitely was not that - it’s a spinoff game. They will 100% release a full new Animal Crossing game, they are a business first and foremost and it’s a top selling franchise!
Fingers crossed for a new Animal Crosssing game. Speaking of which, there is a collaboration between Merlin Sealife Centers and Animal Crossing. So maybe the Aquarium tour is finally coming to the UK
Look. I genuinely like it. Would I have liked it to be more Neon? Yes. But this is a whole new vibe and new color styles that I can totally work with and I’m excited for it.
When I went to see the first look trailer my thought was "Get me hyped Nintendo, bring it on!" and I think they succeeded. I'm not as hyped as I've been before, or as much as I would be if they showed a new Animal Crossing (AC), but I am excited to see more in April! My main thought with a Switch successor has been that it'll probably have to have a new Mario Kart and AC for me to fork over the money to buy it. I simply don't have the time or interest to play as many games as I did in 2017. I suppose the timing of game announcements and pricing could change when exactly I get it, but asssuming there will be AC, I likely will get a Switch 2. If a new AC has been announced, I could get a Switch 2 before then, and be able to make a 2nd island in AC:NH. The price and availability of Switch 2 will probably determine when I get it, and/or how soon an AC releases after the Switch 2 does. I'll be excited for April 2nd to see if they announce an AC and what else Nintendo has to offer!
Im fortunate enough to have 2 switch consoles, one for me and one for my partner when we travel, but i really don't think i need a 3rd one lol! I would at least wait for a good while to see if they release some cute console looks, as we have the boring red and blue and gray ones.. I also mostly play on it connected to a TV, and our TV is just a super cheap whatever model from the bigger supermarket haha! We don't have 4K and i only use hand held mode when i travel so it really doesn't matter to me 😅
I totally agree with what you said ‘don’t fix something that isn’t broken’ the switch is great and something crazy out of the box isn’t needed at the moment. A new AC will definitely come to the switch 2
I never played the 2.0 update for New Horizons, and I deleted my save years ago. New Horizons will be like a brand new experince for me on my Switch 2!
I might grab myself one of these (tho depend on how much it is it may take me abit to save up most of my money is be saved for a new computer right now) but its super exsiting and it be fun to have one of these to go with my normal switch
Also the red looks more orange with reminds me of the portal games with the blue aswell so yay hehe (also yay I can play animal crossing on the switch 2! I been wanting to start a second island but can't on my normal switch so switch 2 is good for that)
I‘m actually kinda scared about the new way the joy cons are going to be connected to the console itself. I‘m sensing that might become the new joy con drift. 🤷🏼♀️
I'm excited for island dreaming to run faster, why not improve the current ACNH game rather than release a new one? There's a lot of things they could still add and improve for the current one.
Bob’s Gang❤ I prefer only handheld and hope they have a “Switch2Lite”. However, the battery life on my Lite has been quite poor since I first bought it. I hope they can fix that with the new handheld.
The battery life is supposed to be “poor” on the lite. That was the entire point of the lite. You bought a cheaper console to get a cheaper product. Nothing to “fix,” it’s by design.
I hope so! I loved NH but got bored of it pretty quickly. We need one that has features from past games all put together. Like the city from city folk for example
Bob's Gang! Here's a list of games I want on Switch 2: 1. New Animal Crossing Game 2. New Mario Game 3. Mario Kart 9 4. Tomodachi Life 5. New Pokemon games 6. New Rhythm Heaven game 7. Nintendogs port or new Nintendogs game 8. Sims game (maybe) As for features...the only features I can think of that I really want back are the themes and music on home screen and menu screens and streetpass
I’ll only get a switch 2 once there’s either a Zelda or Animal Crossing edition. Unless the exclusive lineup is really intense right away, then I may be convince to get it early and sell it once there’s an edition I like better
Honestly, I think the Switch 2 will just be made compatible with New Horizons. It seems to literally just be a Switch with better specs, and Animal Crossing isn't really the sort of hardcore game which needs to be updated to take advantage of it. I've had no problems using a Switch Lite. But then, I also think that a console so similar to one that already exists would be hard to sell if it didn't have its own games, so there is hope there.
You could say the same about Mario Kart, yet we’re getting a new one. The Switch 2 is an upgrade yes, but like the Playstation 2 it is an entirely new console as well. Profits matter to a company like Nintendo, they won’t gain any by just improving New Horizons, a game that millions already own. They will definitely release a new one, as they’ve done with every console since GameCube almost.
I'm excited cause New Leaf was my first animal crossing game, I got it not long after my brother probably around the time the switch came out I wanted to get the wii U before the switch since my cousins had it and I loved nintendoland, so we got it the year the switch came out (or maybe the year after?) We then got a switch for Christmas 2020 or 21- But now I'm older and have my own money, so I can buy switch 2 when it's released *or* when the next animal crossing is confirmed, so yeah, yay! I've never felt what it's like to start a new animal crossing with everyone, so they better release it soon!! lol
They will definitely fave a new animal crossing because they just finished pocket camp and ALSO it would make sense if they made a new game to implement the mobile games features into the game
My guess is the non compatible ones are third party. So indie games and the such, as they usually don’t update as often, if at all after they’re released.
A new animal crossing would be awesome!! I rly hope they make tomodachi life for switch, i feel like thatd be rly popular. Or for something even more nostalgic, nintendogs!!
The games not compatible are probably the ones that used the infra-red sensors, since the new ones don't have them, games like LABO or 1,2 switch and wario ware might be incompatible because of that. Animal Crossing is safe tho!
Unfortunately, unless it has a really good exclusive launch title, I won't be rushing to get one immediately. I can't really afford to right now. But I at least have a big backlog of games that will keep me occupied.
The switch 2 does not have the sensor on the right joycon like the og had, more than likely the games that utilize that function probably will be the games that wo t work on switch 2 , a theory
I'm really excited for the nintendo switch 2, I was going to buy a switch, but decided to wait to get it instead of the standard wher I heard the rumor about the retrocompatibility. Though I'm not so sure now with how nintendo have been acting for the last months specially withe the whole pallworld thing, but will see, maybe I'll buy it. If, big if, I have the money for it XD
Question: if I put my current animal crossing game card in the switch 2 will it load a new island or load my existing island? I just want to play on a new save without deleting my current island on my switch
I'll only buy this thing once the new AC game comes out. I hope we'll get it soon, I'm excited! Switch 2 looks nice and sleek. I hope it comes in white too or have an animal crossing version like last time, that'd be cute
Same! I have been burned with new consoles in the past, so I am going to wait until they announce more games (especially AC)
Realistically it will probably be another 3-4 years unless they decide to launch with a new game which seems unlikely. I’m hoping NH will still work on the switch 2 though so I can have 2 islands lol

We don't have 4K and i only use hand held mode when i travel so it really doesn't matter to me 😅
I am excited for both that are coming out
I like the color being behind the joysticks, it looks nice in my opinion
I totally agree with what you said ‘don’t fix something that isn’t broken’ the switch is great and something crazy out of the box isn’t needed at the moment. A new AC will definitely come to the switch 2
Animal Crossing is my home away from all the stress and craziness of the real world.
The Nintendo clap looks fire
2025 is the year of gaming with these revolutionary announcements
I really hope if we get a new game they make multiplayer split screen it was such a pain in new horizons
I'm excited for island dreaming to run faster, why not improve the current ACNH game rather than release a new one? There's a lot of things they could still add and improve for the current one.
im kinda surprised you didn't mention the uk aquarium dates
This one is just focussed on the Switch 2 news, but when I do my next news recap video I’ll be mention this for sure!
So excited for this!! Thanks for the update!
My theory on switch games that won’t work are specifically the Nintendo Labo kits since they were built with the original switch and Joy cons in mind
Bob’s Gang❤ I prefer only handheld and hope they have a “Switch2Lite”. However, the battery life on my Lite has been quite poor since I first bought it. I hope they can fix that with the new handheld.
Same as I don't have a TV so I just carry it around if I'm going for coffee or travel on travel bus rides or in room lol
The battery life is supposed to be “poor” on the lite. That was the entire point of the lite. You bought a cheaper console to get a cheaper product. Nothing to “fix,” it’s by design.
@@ExcludedShadow Boo…Hisssss…I just figured I wouldn’t get all the bells and whistles of the Switch. Messing with the battery was just cruel.
It'll come out with Joycon drift 2, right?
was that a good joke?
I mean the Joycons were literally drifting in the trailer
2:20 Probably just games using Nintendo Labo or Ring-Fit, since the new Joy-Cons don’t fit in those. That’s what I’m hoping, anyway
oh man
maybe you’ll be able to connect original joycons to switch 2
I think we’ll get a new AC in 2026!
I hope so! I loved NH but got bored of it pretty quickly. We need one that has features from past games all put together. Like the city from city folk for example
I'll be grabbing it when the next Fire emblem game gets released. As well as Pokemon but we'll have to see.
So excitedddd I saved my Christmas gift so I can get the new console once it’s out (prop near my bd from what I heardd)
Bob's Gang! Here's a list of games I want on Switch 2:
1. New Animal Crossing Game
2. New Mario Game
3. Mario Kart 9
4. Tomodachi Life
5. New Pokemon games
6. New Rhythm Heaven game
7. Nintendogs port or new Nintendogs game
8. Sims game (maybe)
As for features...the only features I can think of that I really want back are the themes and music on home screen and menu screens and streetpass
OMG I JUST REMEMBERED ABOUT NINTENDOGS. All the dogs on the ds are rotting. Go dig ur ds up and pet ur dogs. They never forgot the happy times.
I’ll only get a switch 2 once there’s either a Zelda or Animal Crossing edition. Unless the exclusive lineup is really intense right away, then I may be convince to get it early and sell it once there’s an edition I like better
maybe motion controled games won't be compatible?
I can't wait.... I am so going to get my hands on the Switch 2
Can’t be April fast enough. Please announce a new AC game then, please please please 🙏🏼
I'm excited cause New Leaf was my first animal crossing game, I got it not long after my brother probably around the time the switch came out
I wanted to get the wii U before the switch since my cousins had it and I loved nintendoland, so we got it the year the switch came out (or maybe the year after?)
We then got a switch for Christmas 2020 or 21-
But now I'm older and have my own money, so I can buy switch 2 when it's released *or* when the next animal crossing is confirmed, so yeah, yay! I've never felt what it's like to start a new animal crossing with everyone, so they better release it soon!! lol
Incompatibility is likely stuff like Labo
They will definitely fave a new animal crossing because they just finished pocket camp and ALSO it would make sense if they made a new game to implement the mobile games features into the game
Wait so the games in switch 1 u can play in the second one??
Honestly I like my switch fine, I hope they don't stop supporting it for a while.
Dang. I just got the other one for Christmas.
Any news on a new switch lite. I love it's smaller size, more portable.
With the success of NH I’m pretty sure that a new game is coming.
My guess is the non compatible ones are third party. So indie games and the such, as they usually don’t update as often, if at all after they’re released.
New Horizons: *what about me?*
A new animal crossing would be awesome!! I rly hope they make tomodachi life for switch, i feel like thatd be rly popular. Or for something even more nostalgic, nintendogs!!
can’t wait for the direct in april
I prefer handheld. But this gives me a bit of hope for a new animal crossing game.
I will be getting the Nintendo switch 2. I love that I can play on a Tv.
I'm sure they will continue adding games to have backwards compatible with the two switches
I'll get the Switch 2 only if they release a new - and improved - version of AC
only shame since I probably won't be getting it for awhile....it usually takes me a year or two to get the next console
"Bob's Gang" Thank you !!!
If, big if, I have the money for it XD
im so excited for thiss
Looks like an OLED. I do hope they fix the stick drift. Cos freakin hell. Lol
I don't exclusively play Animal Crossing, but even if I did, I would probably buy it day one because my switch is in very bad condition.
Bobs gang!!! I hope Rover is in the new game. I am so excited for the new switch
I’m glad it’s not something completely different this time
I do wonder if it is cross platformable between the old switch and the new one
Lol. Also:pretty sure New Horizons was delayed cos it was due to the big thing in 2020.
Wtf that was quick!
Bobs gang ✌️✨️ whenever we do get a new animal crossing, i hope we get gracie grace and more shops back.
Question: if I put my current animal crossing game card in the switch 2 will it load a new island or load my existing island? I just want to play on a new save without deleting my current island on my switch
