First time I've ever seen someone cut a flat surface on a lathe or cut a slot. Nicely done. Learned something new about them. And it's a nice drill to be added to your work bench.
This is what engineers do, we find a way. And if he had had a four jaw chuck for his lathe, the piece would have run central and save extra slide travel. My horrible step mother sold my lathe and tools, while I was in the Army. That was a nice little project, and I am sure you enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Fantástico! Vou tentar construir uma parecida, para uso em minha oficina de relógios de parede. Se ficar boa mostro o resultado. Agradeço pela inspiração.
Yeah! That will do nicely. A lot more power than I had guessed. I liked the way you basically made it a kit you put together at the end instead of having it built out over the course of the video. Very COoL. p.s. I wonder if adding a small "flywheel weight" just above the chuck- at the brass coupling, would smooth it out even more. Blaw blaw. I shouldn't mess with perfection. Cheers from So.CA.USA 3rd House On the Right. SUBBED!
You just have to think a little. The use of the lathe was completely unnecessary if you have a drill. I would guess it would be easier and faster without the lathe. * The feet could have been 4 nuts. * The two clamps could have been metal blocks with holes drilled in them a slot hand-sawed into them. Starting from round stock was actually weird andd wasteful if you have square stock. You could make them from hardwood, too. * The large wooden block could have just been drilled and sawn/chiseled. * The gear axle, which they didn't show being made, could be any rod.
WOW that is quite amazing, in no way do I 1) have the tools to make that 2) have the skill to make that but I would buy one if they were for sale. Good job.

Para construir las herramientas que proponen, se requiere de un taller muy completo con máquinas-herramientas de valor. Si se tiene ese taller seguro que podes comprar esa herramienta en vez de fabricarla.
I wonder how it would have gone, if you had just used the lathe to cut off the screw heads of the feet, once secured in them, before cutting off the feet? Might have given a cleaner end, that oh could have also slightly chamfered. Ideas for the future.

Not what I would call DIY, when I need a lathe to make most of the parts for the Mini Drill......
lmao, good point... nevertheless this guy is very talented
I think this is stil diy, because for most part are self made not store bought ready that need little assembly like Ikea
Next video: making DIY lathe with lathe

Хорошая идея. Отверстия я специально не стал делать. Подразумевалось сверлить на подкладке. Но отверстие всегда можно сделать

Nice one, but screwing directly into MDF, probably won't last too long…
This is not MDF. this is textolite. Material impregnated with resin, very strong. No worse than aluminum in strength.
It just looks porous, as for the sawdust from it. I somewhat doubt an M3 screw will get a good grip there. @@serengytech
