I’m going to be slowly watching every video you’ve put out. I just want to leave a comment on this one and tell you how grateful I am for you and your content. Lost my uncle this past year and he was a big fam of yours. So in some subtle way, watching your videos is a peaceful way of remembering him.
@@MuttnchopPiper Hi! Here in Norway, 50 g pipe tobacco costs $ 35, so I buy the tobacco when I am in USA. One time, on Route 4 in NJ, i came over an old, beat rusty tin box: Solani (Virginia,Burley,Sweet perique) Premium Quality. Fantastic tobacco! Have you ever heard of this make?
I believe Cornell And Diehl blends age exceptionally well. I've had their stuff between 5 and 15 years, and the stuff is almost always intoxicating when popping the top on the aged stuff. Just incredible dried fruit and tangy and savory notes and loads of sugar crystals on their tobaccos. I suspect Bijou will age into something very very special.
I always envy the fantastic choice you guys in the States have. And the prices! Hope the FDA don't ruin it for you. Have a happy Christmas Chris, Stephen
Well, I bought my first pipe tobacco and a Chacom pipe kit four days ago. The tobacco was Savinelli Black Cavendish 50 grams which cost almost $31, it seems that around $30 is the average price as far as I have seen here in Sweden for what I guess is premium tobacco. But we have very high taxes on tobacco and alcohol here. The rest of EU I guess have lower taxes...
like Piffilus said, it's depend of the country, for exemple Dunhill night cap 50g cost around $16 in Belgium, $21 in France , $18 in Danemark, $12 in Spain, etc...
I’m new to pipe smoking and I must say I find your videos very enjoyable to watch and very helpful in regards to this new hobby I have taken up, so thank you sir!

I think pipe smokers have a calm about them , I love the smell of pipe tobacco, even though I don't smoke , I used too , smoked cigarettes, cigars , and smoked a pipe whatever my mood was , but out of all I always enjoyed smoking a pipe , it makes you think things out , and you always come out with an answer. But I gave up about 38 years ago .but still like the idea . Nice interesting video and love the way your shelves are set out. Thank you 😊
Hello friend Muttnchop Piper. Congratulations on the video. I've watched it several times. So I decided to try Plum Pudding. Arrived today. I can't wait to open the can and smoke.
I would like to stay a year in the states just to smell and taste as many of it's tobaccos as I can! :D Fortunately we have very good blends here in Germany, too!
I Hail from the United Kingdom (Edinburgh) and as said have never seen any of these tobaccos however over here we still have Samuel Gawith who makes great English blends along with a few others wish we had the diversity of the U.S smokers though great video.
I just subscribed and enjoy your knowledge sharing of the simple pleasures of pipe smoking. Thanks for sharing the hobby and saving tradition. Looking forward to working through all your videos.
Hey Muttonchop, I know this may be a little long, but really wanted to say I am very happy I found your channel. I started pipe smoking back in May. My grandfather passed on early this year and I requested one his pipes. He stopped smoking the pipe in the 90s. But I have many found memories of the smell. Cannot stand cigarettes but the pipe tobacco is completely different. Well in his memory I bought his go to tobacco Sir Walter Raleigh and smoked one of his pipes in memory of him. I have never smoked a cigarette, do not like cigars. Well... I loved the zen experience, feeling and now have a bowl 1-2 a week. There is so much to learn...especially all the tobacco options can be overwhelming. Did find The Brair Shoppe in Houston (well known) and bought a few different ounces of their house blends. But still learning. Completely off topic, at 8:45 in this video, I hear chimes from a clock. Well loved those chimes that all brings back a memory. Could you tell me what type of clock you have. Maybe a photo. I was smoking a pipe watching this video and those chimes were very pleasant. Thanks again for all your videos! Very helpful to a new pipe smoker.
BuffaloWanderer1836 - lets start at the beginning concerning the clock chimes you hear. When I was little my parents would send me to my grandparents house in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky for a week, and I absolutely loved it, in their house they had a Sears & Roebuck’s wall clock that would chime every hour, and the ticking of the pendulum was so loud it would rock me to sleep. Fast forward to 2012, I purchased my first Android phone and at some point while owning that phone I wondered if there was an app that would simulate the chiming of a grandfather, or wall clock, and sure enough there was. So the chimes you hear in this video are actually coming from my phone.....how cool is that. 👍👍👍
I am truly enjoying the Maltese Falcon....great morning ...lunch ...or evening pipe blend. Its just a good relaxing flavorful blend. My favorite is Pete S... 306 English Oriental....that's my island blend...but this is right behind it... puffing on it right now....damn good stuff.
Hi Mutt, is always a pleasure to watch at your tutorials. I’m from Italy and it’s a regret not to be able to have these tobaccos you are reviewing. In particular Would be very interested in trying the Plum Pudding. Thanks have a good day Mutt!
Thanks a lot for the vid my friend, thank god I have friends in the U.S. who can provide me with these wonderful blends you talk about. Gonna try to buy the Falcon! Salud!
Thank you for the recommendations. I watched your video on the “right” tobacco and you recommended getting a premium blend for my first time. I’m new and never smoked out of a pipe, but my pipe is in the Mail and just ordered a couple of blends from the list you provided. P.S. your chops are awesome!
I purchased both CAO Eileen's Dream and Maltese Falcon. I am trying to like the Maltese Falcon. The aroma when you pack it is nice, but the taste is like a pack of crayons...hard to explain. On the other hand the CAO Eileen's Dream is my new favorite next to Watch City's Aromatic #7. Thank you for your videos.
Back to the pipe after a 30 year hiatus. Love your channel. I have two different tobacco's that aren't supposed to bite, they do. Probably just me. I tried your Ilene's Dream. Very nice, burns quite well, and no bite. Thanks for the guidance!
I now need to go and get some Central Park Stroll, Stonehaven, and Eileen's Dream. I am mainly a black cavendish smoker who is beginning to branch out into aromatics, so this video is very helpful. Thanks for posting!
I have access to the solani aged Burley from your list and that's all I need, the aged burley is FANTASTIC. Other than that, we have some really talented tobacco blenders in Germany, so we might be locked out of us tobacco, but there is this a lot of good tobacco to choose from 😊

makes great sense reviewing ones favorites by Blend as you can't compare apples and oranges. Have to say my overall star of the show this year was the Solani aged Burley. Happy new year Muttnchop.
Very informative. I've smoked many blends but of your top ten, I have only smoked three of them (plum pudding, Frog Morton OTT, and Eileen's dream). I guess I will be trying several more blends. Thank you.
Thanks Chris here in the uk we can get no where near as many tobaccos and we have only a few good tobacconists but we still have some marvellous blends to try so all is not lost “ yet”
Thanks for introducing me to Maltese Falcon! I put Falcon and Plum Pudding on the same top level with each other. Very similar, but each distinctive enough in their own right to crave one or the other. However, my all-time fav, above these other two, is Cornell & Diehl’s ‘Pirate Kake.’ It is so rich, smooth and contains a ton (75%) of rich Latakia which is like tobacco aromatherapy for me! Really enjoy your videos, Mutton chop.
Great video, sir. Now I'm watching your video and smoking a bowl of Maltese Falcon, that I bought due to your previous recommendations. Thank you for that!
Nathan Heller - when you pop that 6 year old tin, you need to give me a detail taste profile of it so I can compare it with the taste of a new tin. 👍👍👍
Hey MC, I finally got to try Maltese Falcon and its a winner for sure. Smokey, sweet bread and very mild with a low heat. Just love it man, thanks for the excellent recommendations.
Dear Sir, It seems to me, you have great selection of tobaccos based on your experience - i will get some of them to try as well. Thank you for valuable description of the blends!
What would be a good flake did me to try. Sweet a little bit a medium to strong as well. I'm still learning what different tobaccos have to offer as far as taste. Thank you. From Longbottom Ohio. Ryan
Just got a tin of Eileen's Dream. Very tasty! The room note was so nice that my wife even took a few puffs off my cob! Excellent recommendation Mutton Chop, thanks again!!!
Hi Chris, thanks for thinking about the european viewers. I have some good news. GL Pease blends are imported by a company in Swiss so Maltese Falcon should be available in most countries in Europe. Esoterica tobacco's are made by JF Germains and sons on the island of Jersey between Engeland and France. They also produce unter their own name a blend called Rich Dark Flake and it is almost the same or exactly the same as Stonehaven. So there are some options for us pipe-smokers on this side of the Atlantic
Have you ever tried capt black royal? I can't put it down. My everyday all day long smoke. For an OTC I can't believe it. It's so smooth and sweet. Tin and room not is off the chart. I can't find anything to touch it at least with my taste anyways. We are all different. It's gold and black cavendish. 👍👍👍👍👍
hillbilly piper - I have tried it, and you’re right it’s a very good blend, my taste have switched to non-Aromatic blends for now, but every now and again I splash in a little Aromatic, and Capt. Black fills the bill sometimes. 👍👍👍
Great video as always, and this time I'm even happier because I just got Maltese Falcon in my last shipment from 4noggins. I live in Sweden and this is my third order from them that got through with no problems, and it just took a little more than a week!
just ordered Dunhill Early Morning Cornell & Diehl Black Cherry Cornell & Diehl Billy Budd Seattle Pipe Club Plum Pudding Peter Stokkebye 402 Luxury Twist Flake
Hey, Chris, I love your videos, and I've found them incredibly useful as I get more into this hobby. Anyways, I bought a couple tins of Plum Pudding, and I was just curious how you usually prepare a pressed tobacco such as that for smoking, and if you personally prepare the whole tin at once, or if you do it as you use it? Also, I want to cellar a tin of it, but I'm not sure if I should leave it in the tin unopened,or transfer it to a mason jar? Thanks in advance, and keep making great videos!
Ethan C - The way I prepare Plum Pudding I just peel off a portion and break it up as loose as I can get it, then pack it in my pipe loose, the more you press it into the pipe the less air circulates, then you are constantly relighting because it won’t stay lit. If you have the tobacco in the tins, I keep them there, once you open the tin, transfer it to a canning jar. 👍👍👍
There were a few tobaccos I tried when I first picked up a pipe around 10 years ago that I really enjoyed. I put it down for various reasons and completely forgot about it. I recently picked it back up and tried to remember the names of things I'd tried and liked but couldn't remember anything beyond "stone"-something. The moment I heard you mention Stonehaven and Penzance it all came rushing back. I know what to search for now! Also didn't realize Drew Estate's been releasing pipe tobaccos - that Central Park Stroll sounds excellent.
Would love to see an updated version of this video
Diddo. Wonder if anything will change either due to taste or lack of availability due to tobacco company closures.

Smoking some Solanie Aged Burley Flake while watching this video! Great choices of pipe tobaccos! 👍
THE PUFFING ALIEN 👽 AT SPACEMAN TV 📺 - Aaahhh, Aged Burley Flake, delicious, good choice my friend. 👍👍👍
Muttnchop Piper You know it! 😊
Great vid, mutt! Plum pudding is also new to me and I love it! I have a 6 year old tin of the Maltese falcon that I'm going to pop one of these days!
Nathan Heller - when you pop that 6 year old tin, you need to give me a detail taste profile of it so I can compare it with the taste of a new tin. 👍👍👍
Muttnchop Piper will do. Might open it up over the holidays. I've yet to try any Maltese Falcon, so this should be a treat.
Thank you for valuable description of the blends!
poker pot pipe - You bet my friend. 👍👍👍
What would be a good flake did me to try. Sweet a little bit a medium to strong as well. I'm still learning what different tobaccos have to offer as far as taste. Thank you. From Longbottom Ohio. Ryan
Ryan Hawthorne - I would suggest peter Stokkabye luxury twist Flake, or Mac Barren old dark fired, or Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky. 👍👍👍
Muttnchop, another great video my friend! Seasons Greetings from Canada.
Cold Comfort - Same to you my friend. 👍👍👍
Just got a tin of Eileen's Dream. Very tasty! The room note was so nice that my wife even took a few puffs off my cob! Excellent recommendation Mutton Chop, thanks again!!!
Joshua Martin - Awsome isn’t it, reminds me of a caramel, vanilla latte, one of my favorites. 👍👍👍
Ruben Scheer - that's great to hear, I felt for you guys not being able to get a lot of the blends we enjoy here in the states. 👍👍👍
Muttnchop Piper We still miss out on a lot of blends but now and then there's a pleasant exception.
Thanks for the recommendation.
so new to the pipe world and I am smoking a store blend called champagne but want to branch out to some sweet tin blends. this video really helps.
Patrick Connelly - thank you my friend. 👍👍👍
Jimmie Svensson - great to hear my friend, I think you will enjoy the Maltese Falcon. 😃😃😃
Yet another tasty vid with some interesting blends that are now on the must try list. Sweet smokes amigo 🎄🎅🎄☃
Upon AstariKnight - thank you my friend, I always appreciate your comments. 👍👍👍
Wow! A superb selection, if I can get them I will get them all!
Red Coat - You won’t be disappointed. 👍👍👍
Damn, more tins to buy! Another great video!
just ordered Dunhill Early Morning
Cornell & Diehl Black Cherry
Cornell & Diehl Billy Budd
Seattle Pipe Club Plum Pudding
Peter Stokkebye 402 Luxury Twist Flake
Christopher Ramsey - Sounds like a great selection my friend. 👍👍👍
Thank you so much for the video . Hope all is well , best wishes
